Grand was perplexed. "This day started out so well" she huffed, putting her coffee on the table. She grabbed her scarf before leaving the house and walking to the fountain. She kept calm as she walked to the fountain, and once she got there she looked Zeta in the eyes. "Now what in equestria has gotten you all worked up?"

Stephan soon woke up, feeling absolutely sick to his stomach.

"Ugh... the hell happened..." Stephan got up to see Moon and Sirius. "What... what are you two doing *murph.* Excuse me." Stephan ran into the nearest bathroom and vomited in the toilet. He then walked back to the room. "Don't worry. I'll clean that up."

Zeta looked up to Grand. He had a stern face on just then, and met eye to eye. "Stephan, that's who. He's been making me unsure, of our relationship, telling me thing that I don't want to believe... So I would want to ask, Grand.. Do you, really love me? I know i'm 41, and you're 29 which is a decent gap in age, and on some occasions it just feel's, wrong.. But I want to love you, because you're somepony who I really love. I just don't want to be in a relationship, where you don't care..."

 

Moon listened to everything, comforting Stephan back to the bed and handed him the glass of milk. "Drink this, i'll help you from your hangover. I think you may have passed out from having one too many drinks, how much did you have? Can you remember darling?" She urged him to drink it while talking.

"Well of course I do. Age isnt an issue, and it never was" She said, looking at him. "I hope you know that" She said, sitting on the edge of the fountain. "as the saying goes, age is but a number" She said, looking down at her hooves. "Age was never an issue..." She said again, still looking at her hooves

"It wouldn't be just that either, Grand..." Zeta sighed again, holding back any tears as he looked away. "I know you're a healer, a caretaker, so i'd want to ask you this.. You knew if I was alone, I would of died by cancer. By now, I already figured you never wanted me gone, because I was a friend of yours. So after that passed, why did you commit to me in a relationship? Are you just doing it, so I wouldn't be alone...?"

Grand looked up at him. "No, not at all I...well.... no, certainly not" She said, turning to look straight ahead. "Why must you insist on asking such questions?" She said, keeping her eyes trained to whatever was in front of her. "What time is it? I was supposed to check on the theatre sometime today..." She said, looking up at the sky

Zeta just sighed again. "Because Grand... First of all, if you and I are in a relationship because you want me to live, then just, stop. I don't ever want to do this if we're not truly together, alright? I know if you and I leave each other, then there's not much I can really live for, but... I just, I don't know.. I love you a lot, and I want to have a family with you. But right now, i'm just too unsure.."

"Zeta I told you, the chances of me being able to concieve, let alone carry a child is nearly impossible" She said, turning back to face him. "I know thats what you want more than anything. Well, I cant give that to you, and I'm sorry" She said, looking at him seriously.

Zeta looked over as well, but shook his head. He pulled her in for a hug and nuzzled her gently, trying to soothe her. "It's alright if you can't provide us with a family, but... I'm still just so skeptical about each other. If you really love me, and maybe it could be vice versa too.. I'm becoming unsure if i'm meant for you Grand.. Really, I am.." He then let one small tear drop from his left eye, as it fell and hit Grand's leg.

"What makes you say that? She said, looking at him. "Whats gotten into you? Why is it you doubt me now, over any other time?" She said, looking at him. "It seems like you always go through these... moments of uncertainty and I dont understand why" She said quietly

"Stephan has questioned me on it, he's been making me feel, unsure.. I don't want to feel unsure anymore, I just need.. I just need to know, that you love me, and that we can be committed to a relationship, without breaking up.. Maybe without divorcing either.." Zeta replied in a sorrowful manner. He let go of her and looked to her straight in the eyes again. "I'm sorry if it's always at the wrong time, but, it's stuck in my head, always bothering me... Grand, i've faked sleeping well for the past few days now because of how much doubt that's been inside me. I don't know what is happening to me anymore, am... Am I going insane..? Please, tell me..." He began to tear up and cry a little bit.

Grand smiled. "Zeta, we've been through hell and back in more ways than one. If anything I would be concerned if you werent going crazy" She said warmly. "Lets be honest, we've all gone a little mad, some to more extreme measures than others" She said, the slightest bit of pain in her voice. "But it makes us who we are. It tells us we are survivors"

Zeta nodded, tears still rolling down him. "So it's, not insane... But i'm just so filled, with doubt.. You need to help me Grand.. I, I can't do this alone.. I can't sleep at night, I can't concentrate, and now.. I'm wondering if our relationship is even real... Please, just, help me realize that you and I are together.. That.. You'd deeply care for me, no matter what, please....."

Starburst was listening in on their conversation, he had stumbled upon them on his pursuit of Steel, it truly perplexed him how Grand could be fine with all this. He flew quickly over to them.

 

"Now, I know this is none of my business, and I'm being extremely rude for interrupting a conversation such as this one, but I just have something to say." Starburst sighed. "Zeta, you wanted her to date you, because you would have nothing to live for otherwise, if that's the case, you guilted her into a relationship, how can you possibly expect her to love you the same way you love her?"

Stephan drank the milk and sighed, smacking his lips a few times before speaking.

"Well, I do remember saying something to Zeta about him and Grand. I thought I was helping him, but... is that really what I'm doing?" Stephan asked. "I mean, one of the main reasons I let Zeta have her in the first place was so that he wouldn't kill himself."

Fire was deep in thought, what would happen to the little child if Moon was pregnant now, he would be father to a foal that wasn't with the woman he married. He wasn't an adulterer, would it be adultery if it was with Missy too? He wanted to talk to Stephan about it, after all, Stephan was his best friend. So, he heard Stephan's voice coming from a room and he went there, when he entered, he saw Moon.

"Um, I'll come back another time." Fire said.

Before getting an answer, Zeta looked to Starburst who was there. He quickly wiped the tears from his face before ever replying back. "W-what..? No, no... I never wanted to force her to be in a relationship with me, since, I loved her already.. I don't want it to be something like this Starburst, I don't want to force... Anyone.." He turned back to Grand shortly after. "Grand... Is it true? Did, I force you into this..? If, I did, it's alright, just, say it was and i'll leave.. I won't kill myself or anything, but.. I'll just, go if you want me to.."

 

 "Hm..? You let Zeta have Grand for that reason?" She questioned, raising an eye and took the cup from Stephan after he drank down the milk. "Honey, that's not a good choice at all to let him have her like that. What if Grand doesn't like him at all, and is doing it for the same reason you're thinking of? Then it wouldn't be right at all, and it would just end in more trouble."

Grand had never thought about it before. What was the reason? "I...I dont... I dont know Zeta. Ive always just gone along with it. But if I must be completely honest, Ive never really... Well, I.... I just dont know" She said quietly, looking down at the ground. "I care about you greatly, I really do. I just... I'm so confused"

"Well, I can't do much about it now. I'm with Rainbow Dash, and I love her with all my heart, even though she probably won't be flying again." Stephan lied back down on the bed, thinking about the races him and Dash used to have. It nearly brought tears to his eyes, knowing that there might not be another one. "I just want everypony to be happy, but I can't do that. Either one of the two are gonna be miserable; Grand or Zeta. I can't win either way."

Zeta took a hold of Grand's hoof once more and looked to her. "Grand.... It's alright to be confused at times, but.. I don't ever want us to be in something that's fake. We can still be friends for sure, but... From how things are looking, you and I.. We don't know what to do anymore. Do you really think, really.. We're going to leave eachother..?"

 

Moon shook her head. "Stephan, you can make ponies the happiest they would ever be. But it has to be deep down from the heart if you really want to do something like that. If you really did this just now, then both Grand and Zeta are going to be miserable. You might as well have put him back into depression, and from then on he'll never trust anyone ever again." She sighed just then, looking down and signaled Sirius to leave them in private. So the girl did, going downstairs to sit back on the couch. "You have to realize, Hyperion is a very, very sensitive man. One mistake, and it can put him... It can actually put him in an asylum if it's really bad.."

Grand was quiet for a minute. "Maybe... maybe just until I figure out some things. I dont think our relationship can be sincere until I understand where I stand first. But you promise me something, you cant go back to what you were before, you just cant. Everything thats happening is entirely my fault, and its me who is confused and unsure. You know I care about you with all my heart... I would never deny that"

Zeta nodded and gave her a quick hug. "I know you would never deny that you love and care about me, but we can't live a lie any longer.. When the time comes and you have the answer, then come to me, please. I'll... I actually don't know where i'll be really. Just check all the alleys in ponyville, i'm sure to be in one.."

Then without another word, he stood up, wiping off his tears and left.

Starburst just stood there, maybe if he'd said something different, this wouldn't have happened, no it was the truth, Zeta and Grand weren't going to be anything unless there was some mutual feelings, but there just wasn't.

 

"Well, the thing is, Zeta has to think about what he's doing, he made Grand feel really badly, and a relationship that starts the way theirs did, isn't going to last very long and is going to end in tears, and they're both going to regret it." Fire said.

A wave if guilt crashed over Grand as she watched Zeta walk away. She wanted to tell him she loved him, but would she sincerely mean it? what she really in this relationship to keep Zeta happy? Was she happy? Grand hadnt the slightest idea. Instead she just stared ahead, unsure what to do now.

Steel shuddered "that's enough Grell that's simply revolting " steel said then walked away
