Stephan sighed and put his arms behind his head.

"Who cares, Moon?" He said. "They don't need my help. None of them do. If they think they can take care of themselves, who am I to stop them?" He said, not really caring. "Starburst knocked out Missy. She threw a huge fit in the bar when Caramel tried to help her."

"Starburst knocked out Missy?" She said, concerned now. "Well why didn't you bring her back here to let her rest? You can't just abandon her like that.. That's not like you Stephan." Then Moon thought a bit before thinking of stuff. "Have you been drinking too much?"

"No, Moon, I haven't been drinking. I've only drank one apple ale today. They just didn't need my help. They said it themselves, so I'm not going to help them." Stephan got back on his chair and sighed. "I'm sick of helping ungrateful ponies like Missy. She almost threw a shot glass at my head..."

"That's probably because you guys need to leave her alone for a bit." She said a bit sternly, but sat next beside Stephan. "Tell me, what happened with Zeta? Did he happen to run away, and you went to find and talk to him? Would that be one reason why he snapped a lot of your bones and almost killed you?"

Fire found Moon and walked over to her and put a hoof on her shoulder.

"Are you OK? You don't seem very well. I'm not sure if it's the pregnancy but your temperature is really high." Fire said.

 

"Whatever is happening. I have a feeling we're being specifically targeted." Starburst said.

Before getting a chance to reply to Stephan, Fire was there, so she stood up and walked away to talk to him. "I, I don't know.. Is my temperature high? I thought it was just sickness from everything happening now..." Moon sighed and decided to go up the stairs into the room to talk, but she started to have a very tough time getting up since her body started to drain. "Urr... Fire, help me."

"Come on, lean on me, I promised to help you with this and I'm going to keep it." Fire said, slight smile.

 

Starburst picked Missy up and put her on his back, she was a small margin bigger than he was so her hooves were just kind of dragging across the ground. "Wow, she's heavier than I thought." Starburst said. "But alicorns have a larger bone structure due to being part earth pony."

Moon nodded and leaned on Fire, going up the stairs into the spare bedroom. There, she slowly crawled into bed and sighed. "Fire... What's happening? Where's Missy, why did she leave?" Then she moaned as another surge of weakness went over her body. She began to sweat as her temperature became slightly hotter. "I don't want us to be like this.."

"Don't worry about Missy dear, she decided she was going to leave, and if you know her like I do, she's not gonna be gone for long." Fire said. "I'm sure she'll be back soon, but right now, I have to find out what's causing this change in temperature, it can't just be normal sickness."

"Well..." Moon coughed a bit and sighed, holding Fire's hoof. It felt cold but that was because she was burning hot. "Maybe, maybe it's from depression.. Missy and I are the best of friends, and I let her down by getting pregnant. If none of this were to happen, then... We would of all been living peacefully, ish.."

Sooner or later, two pieces of mail shown up in the house. They magically appeared and landed on the table, in Stephan's sight.

Caramel nodded. "We need to go find Grand. It's inly a matter of time with how she's been acting. I can't even imagine what her polar opposite would be" she said, looking at Missy's head. "When she comes to, she's gonna be pissed"

 

Grand was carrying Glint around upstairs when the letters appeared. She figured Stephan wouldn't get it, he looked like he wasn't going to do anything anytime soon, so she picked up the one addressed to her and read it. She sighed, placing it down. "Love..." she sighed, dropping the letter

"Oh, I don't doubt she will be." Starburst said, just then Missy came to and rolled off of Starburst onto her hooves.

"Don't touch me, you... it seems my own son is betraying me too." Missy yelled.

 

"Look, mum, you need to cal...." Starburst began but Missy shot him in the chest with a beam of magic, causing him to stagger back to a kneeling position. "What.......what's gotten into you?" Starburst tried to ask.

 

"I'm free now, I'm free of Fire and his cruel ways, now I can leave without feeling any guilt. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got somewhere to be." Missy snapped before levitating herself and flying in a random direction.

Zeta looked out to the sunset sky, feeling a funny breeze of wind as the moon was slowly going to rise. It felt odd to him, so he slid down and came inside quietly. He then looked to Luna. "Princess Luna, something feels really weirrRRDdd.. Um.." He blushed hard as he turned around to look away.

"Oh come on, Zeta, I'm sure you've had encounters with these kinds of situations before." Luna said before going out to the balcony. "This might be something you want to see." Luna's horn began to glow as she took hold of the moon, it slowly began to rise into the night sky as the sun set. "So, anyway, what were we talking about?"

Caramel sighed, trying hard to control her temper when she noticed Grand. She smiled, noticing her colours haven't changed. "Oh good Grand, your still normal" she said relieved. "You need to help us find Missy" she said worriedly.

 

Grand turned to her. "Help you find Missy? Well I don't know if that's in my things to do, it's not my responsibility" she said, looking down at Glint. "You know what, she isn't my responsibility either" she said, stuffing Glint into Caramels arms

 

"Oh no" caramel said, looking over to Starburst

 

"In fact, none of this is my responsibility! I'm sick of doing everything for everyone, I'm not you mother, or your chef, or your maid but that's all I'm treated like! I'm done with all that, I'm going to go have fun, because you have been doing nothing but holding me down!" She said, her colours draining with every word before sauntering out.

 

Caramels ears were pinned back as she turned to Starburst. "One sentence, that's all it took!"

Luckily, Luna surpressed it well and so did Zeta after she. Then he followed her out to the balcony to watch the sun rise. "Wow.. That's beautiful... Anyways, um.. I felt a little odd about the ponies in Ponyville. Like, something strange is going on, and it's not bandits. I may not have any magic power, but to be honest my senses are just feeling strange."

Starburst struggled to get up for a moment, but regained his composure.

"Alright, this situation is bad, but we've dealt with worse." Starburst said. "All that's left is me, my dad and Zeta and....."

Starburst put a hoof to his mouth, he ran inside and found Fire.

"Dad, Mum is gone." Starburst said.

"She won't be gone long, I know her." Fire said.

"I don't think she will....dad, I think she'll stay gone. She attacked me." Starburst gestured to the burn mark on his chest.

Fire then turned to Starburst.

"No, she'll be back." Fire muttered to himself over and over again, the color draining from his coat and mane.

"Dad, are you OK?" Starburst asked.

"Yes. Of course I am." Fire said, then looking away innocently.

 

"In what way, Hyperion?" Luna asked.

Moon looked to Starburst and Fire, seeing the colors drain. She wanted to get up, but couldn't from being sick. "Fire, no... You didn't fail, she's still with you.. She just, needs some time to breathe, and all..."

 

Zeta looked back out again, cocking a head. "Well... I can't say it, but.. Sadness. Depression, too.. It wasn't just from me, I was the building block of it, but.... It almost seems like something else has happened, which has then put it all into effect.."

Stephan took the letter and read it over slowly. After reading it, he simply tore the letter in half.

"Who the heck needs friends? All I'm looking out for is number one!" Stephan said, throwing the shreds of paper all over the ground. At that moment, there wasn't a shred of color left on him. He might as well be a character from an old black and white television show.

Caramel sighed and walked up to Starbyrst. "Are you okay? That burn doesn't hurt too bad does it?" She asked, worried about what was going on. "We have to figure out what's causing it before it's too late" she said, looking at Fire

 

Grand meanwhile had walked into the bar. "Give me your strongest drink, I'm getting drunk tonight because guess what? I don't have to take care of anyone!" She said with a wide smile. The bartender just stared at her, very confused

(Sorry if I'm sounding a bit forced while saying this.)

"Starburst, Starburst, Starburst! At least that burn will go away! I almost died today!" He shouted, showing the cast on his hind hoof. "Nothing can cure death, Caramel." He said. Stephan knew something wasn't right with him. Why was he acting like this? The real him would help Starburst with his wound.

Starburst walked away from  everypony, trying to think, just think about what they were going to do. His mind was running blank, he turned round to Stephan.

"Well, look at it this way, you weren't attacked by your own mother, just suck it up." Starburst said. "We have to fix this, and you are going to help."

"At least you have a mother here, Starburst. Mine is thirty moons away from here!" Stephan then raised his head up at Starburst and grunted at him. "Nah, I think I'm gonna stay behind. You guys can take care of yourselves. I mean, you're pegasai and unicorns. I'm just a worthless earth pony." He said. "Besides, why should I help you?"

Starburst turned to him in disbelief, or anger, one of those two.

"Because Stephan, because friends are important, friends are the ponies you can rely on to be there for you when you're down, they will try to help as best they can and friends always, always, come back for each other, but if the meaning of that is lost on you then. Maybe you should just go back to your own world, because you clearly don't understand how this one works." Starburst said, trying to push thoughts of Grand and everypony out of his mind.

"That's not what today has shown me, Starburst." Stephan replied. "I've been beaten to a pulp today, Missy threw a ginormous fit directed to me, and now everypony is going haywire! I'm suppost to be the element of loyalty, but I've been showing it for too long!" Stephan took a few deep breaths and calmed down. "What do you need...?"
