Caramel smiled and nodded, grabbing a blanket and draping it over Starburst just as Stephan burst in. "Everyone's fine Stephan, Stephan kept us safe" she said with a smile. "Be we'll have to do something about the roof"

 

Grand nodded as she began picking up rubble and placing it where it was supposed to be. "This shouldn't take long with all if us here" she said, placing the rubble carefully

Stephan picked up Glint and held her in his arms. He then looked over to Starburst and smiled.

"Don't worry, Starburst. Everypony is fine. We even convinced Chrysalis to turn over a new leaf." He said happily. He then turned to Caramel. "I'm just glad everypony else is alright down here, though I can't exactly say the same for the rest of Ponyville. Do you two think you can handle things while I check on the rest of the town?"

"That's good, we should go and see what we can do to help, you know, and assess the damage, make sure nopony got hurt." Starburst said, gesturing for Stephan to follow.

 

"We should definitely go do something after this is all over, Grand. Been meaning to for a while." Missy said as she put a piece of the wall back together.

Stephan began following his nephew out of the house and into the town of Ponyville. The bodies of ponies were lying on the ground, either unconscious or dead. Some were just simply cowering in the corner. The small town would take time to rebuild, but not as much time as when they first arrived. Just then, a memory returned to him.

"Oh no... Rainbow Dash!" Stephan began to run to Dash's house, hoping he wasn't too late.

Starburst searched through the town, dead bodies on the streets and crying families. He was looking for Twilight, just then he saw Fluttershy, tears streaming down her face, she had burn marks on her, where spells had hit. She was carrying a body. Starburst ran over to her.

"Oh no." Starburst exclaimed. "What happened?"

"She....she protected me. And......an....." Fluttershy stammered for words. Starburst simply put his arms around her in a hug.

Stephan made his way to Rainbow Dash's house, where the entire complex was conveniently left intact. He did a few jumps off of the trees and landed on the cloud holding her house in the air. He then ran into the door and busted it down. Nopony was there. This left the stallion utterly terrified. He then left the house and searched for Starburst, hoping that he had some leads.

Twilight was flying around, co-ordinating all the pegasi to put out the fires, the damage would be felt by this attack for weeks, if not forever by some.

 

Fluttershy continued to cry, she had just witnessed the death of one of her best friends.

"She.....she killed......all but one of the.....the ch..changelings, I've never killed anypony before!" Fluttershy said.

"It's not something you ever get used to, and I'm sorry you had to do it." Starburst said.

After running around through town frantically, Stephan saw Twilight flying through the air with a group of pegasai.

"Oh my gosh, Twilight. I've never been so relieved to see somepony such as you." He said, bowing on the ground. "I'm looking around for Rainbow Dash. Have you seen her?"

Twilight noticed Stephan calling to her.

"Right, you two go and put out the fire at the library." Twilight said, then flying down to Stephan. "We all got seperated when the attack began. I've been worrying about them too. And there's really no need to bow like that in these times."

Stephan got back up to his hooves.

"Whatever you say, Twi." He said to the Princess. "I need to find Rainbow Dash as soon as I possibly can. I checked inside her house, but nopony was there. It's getting me worried. I can only hope that she's found somewhere safe."

Fluttershy then attempted to get Rainbow onto the floor and started to do CPR.

"Fluttershy. What are you doing?" Starburst asked.

"She has to be alive, she can't die. She can't. She just can't." Fluttershy whimpered.

"Fluttershy." Starburst said, putting his hoof on her shoulder. She then hugged onto Starburst and began to cry.

 

Twilight heard crying coming from somewhere, distinctly sounding like.....Fluttershy.

"I hear one of them, come on." Twilight said, flying in the direction of the sound but stopped dead at what she saw. "Oh no."

The sight that was just placed in front of Stephan was all too horrifying. Rainbow Dash was going to die right in front of him. He walked over to Rainbow Dash's body and knelt down to her.

"No... Dashie... you can't die, you just can't!" He said, beginning to frantically perform CPR.

Starburst just watched as Stephan worked, he knew that no matter how hard Stephan tried, he wouldn't get anywhere.

"Please stop Stephan." Fluttershy whispered. "You can't save her, it happened about 10 minutes ago, you....nopony can save her now."
"I'm sorry, Stephan." Starburst said.

Stephan frantically stopped. He then planted one last kiss on Dash's head before falling into a frantic breakdown of tears.
"Dash..." He began speaking in between tears. "I promised I'd always be there for you, to help you whenever you were in need... but I wasn't there this time. I'm so sorry, Dash."

Twilight felt like she was going to cry, but she had to keep level-headed. So she walked slowly over to the group.

"I'm sorry, but we have to get her body someplace safe, so she's not just left out in the dirt. Get her to the hospital, they'll do something." Twilight said, taking deep breaths.

Fluttershy nodded and put a hoof on Stephan's shoulder.

"I'm going to take her to the hospital. I have yet to say my final goodbyes. She was pretty much my everything... and I let it slip by." Stephan began walking over to the hospital, which was also completely left intact.

After a bit of cleaning, Zeta took a nice deep breath and looked over to Grand. It felt nice to see her again, even being separated for about a few days but that's still plenty enough. So he walked over to her, giving a tap on the shoulder. "How is the theatre going Grand?"

Starburst looked over to see Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash walking next to each other.

"Thank goodness you two are alright, Stephan is gonna be happy when he sees you." Starburst said.

"I bet he is, I've been looking for him, we got jumped by a couple of changelings but they couldn't take me on." Dash said, smugly.

After running around for a bit, Stephan and Twilight found Starburst, Fluttershy, And Rainbow Dash all walking together. The sight filled Stephan's heart with a great feeling of relief.

"Oh, thank goodness you're all okay!" Stephan said, going over to Dash and kissing her cheek and hugging Fluttershy. "Are either of you hurt at all?"

"Meh, they got in a few shots on me, but Flutters here is fine, all thanks to me." Dash said. "You have no idea how good it is to see you, Stephan. Even if it's only been a little while since we last spoke." Dash went up and kissed him, much to the surprise of Fluttershy.

"Um.....I don't mean to be rude, but are you two....um.....together or something?"

Stephan looked to Fluttershy and smiled and nodded at her.

"You're correct, Fluttershy. After nearly thirteen years, me and Dashie are finally together again." Stephan was happy to see the two ponies left alright and well, despite a large chunk of Ponyville in shambles. "There isn't anything wrong with that, right Shy?"

"Um, no, there's nothing....um....wrong with that....." Fluttershy backed away a little. "I think it's great that you've found somepont like him, Dashie." Dash then pulled Fluttershy into a big hug.

"You are alright aren't you?" Dash asked.

"Of course I am, thanks to you." Fluttershy said.

 

"Yeah, I told Flutters here to hide while I took out these changelings who were chasing us." Dash said. "I couldn't make her kill anypony."

Stephan hugged both of the mares tightly.

"I'm just glad that both of you are okay. Though, I don't expect the changelings to attack again after this." The stallion said assuringly. "We got Chrysalis to turn over a new leaf. She agreed to stop this war if we're willing to help their society grow again."

"I don't know, seems kinda fishy to me, I mean, the changelings, one of the most evil species in Equestria just up and turns good?" Dash said. "It just doesn't sit right with me, doesn't sit right at all." Fluttershy smiled and nudged her. "But if you believe they can change then....uh, I do too." Dash grinned awkwardly.

Twilight flew down to them.

"Fluttershy, you're needed to contain fires. Come on!" Twilight said, then flying off.

"Well, I have to go, we'll catch up later, when the town isn't in danger." Fluttershy said before following Twilight.

Stephan watched as Fluttershy flew off with Twilight to the fires. A sad expression came to his face as he turned to Rainbow Dash. 

"Don't you ever miss flying around like that, Dash?" Stephan asked her. "I remember when we were teenagers. It was your favorite thing in the entire world."
