Grand was beginning to struggle, but she persevered. She dug her hooves in every step she took, occasionally faltering when using her back hoof, and was slowly making her way up. "You don't suppose this mountain will be scaled in a day, do you?" She said, looking at the towering mountain

He took a look back to Grand for a moment, then focused on climbing again. "If we tried hard enough we could, but honestly I would stop to take a rest before ever entering the shrine. We need all the energy we can get to surpass everything, even if it means taking a delay to prepare."

Fire Horn looked up at Grand.

"Well, we probably could, like Zeta said, if we reach the summit then we have to rest outside the shrine before we go anywhere." Fire said. "Missy, go and check out how big the mountain actually is, it'll a breeze flying up there i'd bet." Missy saluted sarcastically and said. "Aye,  aye captain." Before flying up  out of sight, there was a thick layer of clouds moving in and snow was starting to appear beneath Fire's hooves.

Since no pony wanted help on carrying their stuff, Ink caught up with with Fire Horn and asked him quietly, "Have you told her? Don't tell me you told her?" Ink was worried that if the truth fell on Missy's ears, it would devastate her. Ink's intention was not to guide the group to the Shrine since the very first beginning he met them at the docks of Baltimare. He purposely was trying to steer away anypony that had the same intention -- to go to the Shrine and look for some kind of cure -- He knew about the Shrine, perhaps he had known too much.

"Such viral outbreak, why the Shrine if I might ask? Why all the trouble to look for a cure there, why not a vaccine?" Ink asked Fire Horn.

"I haven't told her anything about it, i don't think i could do that to her, i mean..." Fire Horn got a little closer to Ink. "...Star Swirl is actually Missy's father, that would be really bad, maybe it's best she finds out on her own." Fire Horn whispered. "A friend of ours, name was Carrick Murphy, he believed that the answer was with books and myth rather than science."

As the snow began to form around grands hooves, she began having a harder time keeping her balance. Suddenly she slipped on a patch of ice and began to slip down. She managed to catch herself on a small ledge, but she couldn't climb any further. "A bit of help might be necessary" she squeaked, looking down the steep mountain

Missy came back down at that moment and noticed that Grand had slipped on some ice.

"Here, take my hoof, i'll help you up." Missy said, smiling.

 

"This journey is taking it's toll on all of us, sooner or later, we're all going to go mad." Fire Horn said.

Grand smiled a bit as she dangled in the air, though she was shivering. "I hope you have a good grip" she said, looking At the mountain below. "It's a shame we all don't have wings, it would have made this whole journey much easier" she said, realizing how much colder it suddenly got

Zeta watched as Grand slipped a bit, but Missy was there to aid her. At least somepony who would be better then him was there for her at the time, so he shook his head and kept climbing.

The snow did make it harder for Zeta to walk up, being uneasy about finding the sturdy rocks in the soil as he went up higher. He turned to Fire who seemed to be having the same problem, also hearing his words.

"I would agree with you. This trip, is so mind breaking. But whoever finishes will be confident enough to do practically anything."

"This journey is taking it's toll on all of us, sooner or later, we're all going to go mad." Fire Horn said.

Ink saw that the group was slowing down, he turned back toward Fire Horn and said, "Reach for my satchel, there is a bolt of parachute cord, take it out and tie it's end to you and thrown the other end down to the others," he said as he held on to his soil axe, "the higher we go, the greater the wind blows!"

"Having wings is great, just get onto my back and ii'll fly you up there, just be careful you don't poke your eye out on one of my feathers." Missy said, giggling a bit. 

"I make me laugh." Missy thought.

Missy lowered herself for Grand to get on her. "Just hold on tightly is all, it's a steep mountain."

 

"Alright, good idea Ink, we tie this to our strongest member which is obviously Stephan." Fire said. "Here, Stephan tie this around yourself." Fire said, throwing the start of the cord to him.

" you should also tie it to me and Missy in case you guys fall we can take some of the load of everypony else" steel said as he flew along watching for anypony to fall or slip, he would be the one to save them since Missy had grand -if somepony dies because they fell its all on me-

The rocks had gotten a lot more unstable, despite the hard soil that had kept them in place. They were falling off easier, nearly making him slip a few times.

But of course, it didn't take him another moment after that to lose grip and fall down the mountain. Which when Zeta did, he showed no fear, and no emotion to it whatsoever.

He started to roll from the air going past him. Maybe if Steel didn't notice he was falling, then that would be a good ending for his book.

Steel noticed zeta start falling and went unto a power dive to save him, steel went past zeta as flew directly under him then started flying skyward when steel tired to catch zeta he failed zeta was falling at such speed that steel wasn't able to hold onto him

Grand noticed the rocks beginning to fall where zeta was climbing. "Missy! We need to get zeta out if there!" She shrieked, beginning to panic. " we aren't losing another pony, I won't allow it!" She said, feeling helpless as she watched from Missy's back. "You have to do something!"

Missy had to think of a plan, but she didn't have time to think while staring blankly, she had to act now, so she started flying downwards, towards Zeta as he was tumbling down the rocks.

"Grand, hold on tight!" Missy shouted. "I need you to reach out and grab Zeta, remember what i taught you about levitation!" This would be Zeta's end if Grand could not pull this off. "We need to do it before he dies from injuries from the rocks."

Zeta's fall felt fairly slow, but he was indeed breaking it from his back hitting the air. Looking up, all he could see was the mountain that towered above him, but caught a glimpse of something else.

Wait, no.. That couldn't be.

 

But indeed it was. He saw Missy flying down towards him, with Grand on as well. He almost immediately started to cry, but held back in his tears and watched them come closer and closer.

Maybe Zeta would live through this one it seems, being saved by the one that he cared oh so dearly..

Grand nodded and clenched her eyes. She focused everything she could on levitating zeta, and the moment they were in range a magic enveloped him, slowly bringing him up to where they were. She kept him levitated rather than adding more weight to missy, though she began to grow more tired the longer she levitated him. "We have to put him down or I'm going to drop him" she said between heavy breaths

Missy came to a stop shortly before they hit the ground, she hovered above it.

"I'll take him." Missy wrapped a levitation field around him as Grand's flickered and faded. "I guess i'm just gonna have to carry Zeta too." Missy said, holding Zeta in her hooves and Grand on her back as she flew back up to the group.

It happened all so quick.

First thing he saw was Grand and Missy, then he was levitated down and picked up once more. But why did they do it to him is what Zeta didn't understand. After all, he did tell them that he wasn't worth anything, so why would they still help him?

But in the end, he managed to sucker up a smile and give a "Thank you." to both of them. Seeing as they went off of their own thing to help someone like him really deserved a reward.

Grand smiled as she tried to catch her breath. "We weren't going to let you perish that easily" she said, putting her head down in Missy's back. "Thank you missy, I'm sorry I don't have the strength to to carry him myself" she said, clearly quite exhausted after using her levitation spell for so long

"I figured you weren't, since you all have been to stubborn to listen but.. I guess you guys don't want me to feel bad do you?" Zeta had replied back to Grand. He had felt a little better now, knowing that a pony like her would save him from falling down the side of a mountain. It would be more like a hero saving a princess, only the princess is the hero and the hero is the low life guy.

"Well, it's no problem to us, like i said, we're all one big, albeit dysfunctional, family." Missy said. "It's funny, because i'm holding you in my hooves, the same way a fairytale hero holds his damsel in distress." Missy was about to start laughing but controlled herself, because she had passengers.

"Well this one disturbing fairy tale, isn't it?" She said, laughing tiredly. She was lucky she was a smaller pony, or missy might be struggling much more. "Once I recover, I'll be able to levitate zeta again, I promise" she said, still laying her head down on Missy's back tiredly

Stephan was a gaining a little bit more ground than the others, considering that climbing a mountain with hands is easier than climbing with hooves. He looked down and noticed that Missy and Grand just saved Zeta from certain doom. Stephan gave the mares a thumbs up and continued climbing.

 

 

 

"It's funny, because i'm holding you in my hooves, the same way a fairytale hero holds his damsel in distress." Missy was about to start laughing but controlled herself, because she had passengers.

 

"Weird. I had to do something around those lines at least twice after leaving the city." Stephan snickered at the thought and kept treading the slope.

"Don't worry yourself about Zeta, remember i'm a mother at heart...and in actuality, so there's no need to do anything right now, it's all under control." Missy said in a calming voice, hoping that Grand would go to sleep, she could use the rest, and Missy owed her anyway for helping her, Twice!

"Is everything alright?" Fire asked.

"Yes, everything's under control." Missy simply responded flying past him slowly.
