Grand woke up from her bed and stretched before styling her mane. She walked downstairs and grabbed the cake from the fridge. She looked over to see Moon calling for her. "I'm right over here Moon, do you need anything?"

 

Caramel sat up and yawned before turning to Starburst and hugged him. "Happy birthday! Today's gonna be awesome!" She said excitedly

Stephan rolled his eyes a bit and walked outside with Fire. 

"I told you that you were drinking too much, man. But, nope. Never listen to the stallion that barely reads..." He said, throwing up his hood. "How old is your son today, Fire? Sixteen? Seventeen? I first met him eight or nine years ago."

 

"He's sixteen years old, that's how old Missy was when she had him. Or was it?" Fire couldn't think straight and his brain wasn't working.

 

Missy woke up happily. She remembered it was Starburst's birthday, a couple of doctors came in and gave her a check-up, she was free to go. So she took Glint and went to Starburst's room.

"Hey, Starburst." Missy said.

"Thanks Caramel, just you being here is enough to make my birthday great." Starburst said.

Grand woke up from her bed and stretched before styling her mane. She walked downstairs and grabbed the cake from the fridge. She looked over to see Moon calling for her. "I'm right over here Moon, do you need anything?"

 

Caramel sat up and yawned before turning to Starburst and hugged him. "Happy birthday! Today's gonna be awesome!" She said excitedly

She nodded happily. "I've heard a while back that they were gonna install new mail systems again, and I think today is the first day that they start to deliver. Could you do me a beautiful favor and check it? I have a feeling, a strange feeling that there's a letter in there for me.."

Stephan was blown back a bit. Missy was sixteen when she had Starburst? That would mean that she had a child when she hasn't even reached college. He tried to let go of the thought and the two trotted into the hospital and to Starburst's room. Stephan then knocked on the door to the room.

Fire opened the door.

"Hello everypony. Happy Birthday, son." Fire said. "Wow, it's crowded in here."

"Mine isn't as good as your dad's might be, but I tried to get you something from my adventuring days." Stephan reached into his saddlebags and took out an old, dusty hat. "I used to wear this whenever I'd go adventuring. I was gonna give it to you on the island, but... things happened. I was gonna let Zeta have it, but I thought I might as well give my new nephew something from when I wasn't an old coot. I'll make him another one. So, here. Take it."

Grand smiled. " I guess we have time, though we need to hurry" she said, putting the cake down. She went to the mailbox and grabbed a handful of letters. " huh, there's one from Zeta here, that's odd.." She said as she read it. She squinted her eyes and pulled out the cheque. She gasped and let an "oh my..." Before promptly fainting

Starburst was speechless. All he could do was kiss Caramel, maybe words would come to him.

"Thank you...I, thank you so much!" Starburst said.

 

"I got you this." Fire put a bottle of whiskey down. "It's the best stuff I could find, I'm surprised I didn't drink it last night."

"Really? I can drink this?" Starburst eyed up the bottle.

"Sure. You're old enough." Fire replied.

Moon heard a little thud, then ran over to Grand who was on the floor. She noticed that she had passed out and brought her inside, while Siri who had woken up from the thud collected the mail, the cake, and the check for like, 23 million bits.

"Well, it seems like.. This money, is for everypony actually mommy. Which means you, me, Grand, Stephan, mister Fire, Missy, her daughter, Starburst, Caramel, and Steel all get to share! Isnt that- huh?" Then she reached down and picked up a letter, this one from Moon's wife. "Mommy, daddy sent us a letter!"

 

"Well then read it Siri, what are we waiting for?"

So she began to read as best as possible, here's what the letter said.

 

To Moon Wave.

This is, your husband. You know that you and I haven't talked much or anything, which this letter is about.

I know that things have changed between you and I, knowing that you go out with other stallions while i'm on Guard duty. And I understood for the first year until it became a habit, like you've been forgetting about me. That's why, i'm going to be making a decision I know you and Sirius wont like.

I know the times we've been together have been very good. You and I used to go out into the lake almost every day and swim until the sun set, and raise our little child up from a baby until now. But what really messed me up, was that you had another child.. From a different stallion. That's something that can be punished by a few years in jail, but i'm not like that.

Because of this, i'm sorry to say Moon.. But we have to call it off. It's been long enough to where I've become independent on my own from you and every time you go out I feel lonely and sad. It's only going to get worse with us being married, so this is for the best.

I'm sorry, but we're getting divorced.

Moon was instantly shocked, dead silent as her face went pale from the end of the sentence. She couldn't say anything anymore, only standing at the thought of what had just happened there.

"H-h-h... He's.. Wanting, a.... That's insane, Siri. You know not to trick your mother like that!"

"But mommy, that's word for word what it says. What's a divorce?"

"A.... I-it's, nothing darling. Just, I need some time alone.."

So she stood up. Then walked over and grabbed the paper which Moon bundled up and threw away while shaking up the stairs. She had gone cold, too cold to even cry.

Grand woke up quickly. She grabbed the letter again and read it. She sat down and sighed. "Well... I suppose he's gone then" she said, putting the cheque on the table, suddenly she looked over to the cake and groaned. "Oh, I'm late, Caramels going to be mad" she said, picking the cake up

Stephan simply rolled his eyes. On Earth, you couldn't drink when you were sixteen. You couldn't even get into a bar when you were sixteen. But, look at him being Mr. Concerned Parent over here.

"Well, while you and Starburst share his first drink, I'm gonna go check on Dash." Stephan left the room and went upstairs to Dash's room. "Knock, knock." He said, upon opening the door.

Siri noticed Grand picked up the cake and jumped under her. "Hey, Miss Grand! I can carry that cake for you with my magic! Don't worry, my mom said that even when I was a baby I could lift heavy things with it, so there's no need to worry about dropping it~"

 

Meanwhile upstairs, Moon had struggled to get into Zeta's old room and sat in a corner. Her eyes became slightly bloodshot, as she tried to take everything in.

"No.. Steel.. Steel, no, NO!!"

Then she started to scream loudly, crying at the same time.

"A cake, well, my birthday was already great, what with me being with Caramel, but it's even better, thanks guys." Starburst said.

Fire poured a glass of it for Starburst.

"Happy birthday." Fire said, both raising glasses. Missy cleared her throat.

"You can't drink alcohol. Not while you've got her to feed." Fire said.
"Ah! CELESTIA DAMMIT!" Missy yelled. Starburst and Fire both laughed and drank.

"That's some powerful stuff." Starburst said.

"It is, it most certainly is." Fire responded, chuckling a bit.

 

Missy took her gift and gave the smaller one to Glint, who was now awake.

Missy opened hers, it was a magical charm, meant to bring good luck.
"Thank you, Steel." Missy said, not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Glint was chewing on the edge of hers.

 

Dash was sleeping, she heard someone speak and woke up suddenly.

"Stephan? Good morning, is it noon? I slept in again didn't I?" Dash asked.

Grand heard someone screaming. "You can carry it huh? Do you mind taking it to the hospital for me?" She said sweetly, giving her the cake. "Tell everyone I'll be there shortly" she said before heading upstairs. She opened the door quietly. "Moon? Are you alright? Would you like to talk about it?"

 

Caramel rolled her eyes. "Great, youre gonna be hammered for your big day" she said with a laugh

"Nah. You should get as much rest as you can." He said, smiling. He walked up to her and sat beside her bed. "Starburst's birthday is today. We're having it in the room across the hall, since he can't come back to the house for it. You weren't there, so I decided to come and check up on you."

Starburst laughed at Caramel's comment, he would have to be hammered for what he was planning on doing later that day.

"Maybe it'll make the next few days tolerable being in this hospital bed." Starburst said, putting on the cloak, he looked like a real adventurer, or maybe Sherclop Holmes. "Don't I just look awesome." Starburst stood up on his bed and let the cape flow behind him.

 

"This is gonna sound crazy, but you were in my dream." Dash said, kissing him on the cheek. "I left my present for him back at my house, only a pegasus can get in."

Meanwhile, she had slowly stopped crying and was wrapped up in a ball again. But, there was some blood on the floor and a sharp mirror peace along with it. Slowly Moon turned around, showing the gash mark all the way down from her hoof to the stomach which was cut pretty much open.

It was obvious, wasn't it?

She was trying to commit suicide.

"Ohh, Grandn... You've, come.. Just in time, heheh.." She said with red eyes and a small smile. "Why spend a life of pain, when you.. Can, just end it?"

"Don't you have a front door to enter from?" Stephan asked. "If there is, I could get it to him for you. At least to just let him know you remembered to get him a gift." He insisted. "I just hope you're out of here soon. Perhaps once you are, maybe we could um... you know... go... out?"

"Oh my celestia, Moon what are you doing!?!?" She cried, pulling the sheet from the bed and wrapping it tightly around th wound. There was fear in Grand eyes. "We need to get you to the hospital, don't you try to stop me" she said, picking her up with her magic and running out the door, careful not to run into Sirius

 

Caramel laughed. "Sure, mr. Holmes, you look quite dapper indeed" she said in a cheesy accent

Glint was now able to stand on her hooves, but was unable to walk anywhere, she began giggling at Starburst.

"Why thank you, Hastings." Starburst responded, then laughing and lying back down in his bed. His mind drifted back to his plans to propose to Caramel and he took another drink of the whiskey, maybe being plastered would clear his mind of that.

 

"Yeah, but my house is in the sky Stephan, come to think of it, how did you manage to get up there?" Dash wondered. "Best not to think of things too far and too much."
