To anticipate where Caramel would've gone, he had to think like she did. Where would a banished citizen try to find refuge?
"In the nearest available settlement." Starburst said as he trudged through the snow. The weather was starting to become bad.

"Caramel? Where are you?" Starburst's vision was becoming limited, the snow picking up.

 

"Well, let's not let this stop us from life." Missy said. "It's Starburst's birthday, and it's been the worst one so far."

Stephan and company walked through the plains of Equestria with Light Streak tagging along. Stephan couldn't help but feel... different. He felt fresh and ready for anything. It made him wonder. He then turned around to his companions.

"Guys, what exactly happened? All I remember is blacking out in the middle of the field and waking up to see that... thing. Plus, why is the sword back? I thought I melted it in the volcano."

"Don't ask, I was never here." Zeta replied while pulling the sword out of the sheath that steel had on and looked at it. It was feeling very dark, almost like it was trying to take over just by touching it but wouldn't let it. "Tell me, the story. Why are you back here again?"

Steel had donned his cloak then turned to stephan "you died that thing came out of you and starburstwent back In time to get the sword so he would revive you" steel said as he felt a searing pain in his side he barely winced in pain he knew that out was coming...

Stephan nearly choked on his own words. He couldn't believe it.

"I-I.... died?"

 

Dread laughed from inside the sword. "Oh, I don't know. I was planning on coming back and unleashing chaos worse than Discord ever could, but I'm a reasonable demon stallion. I'm giving you one chance to save your homeland by returning me to Zycrin."

"Horse feathers" grand coughed, following behind grumpily. She tightened her scarf and kept her head down on the ground

 

Caramel had finally made it to a small village that was thrown together during the rebuilding. She walked into a tiny coffee shop and got a cup if tea, never removing the good from her face

Starburst found a village, it was rather badly built, most likely make-shift during reconstruction.

He was walking through the village when he suddenly lost balance and almost fell.
"You okay?" A stallion asked, helping him back up.

"I'm fine. thank you." Starburst got up again.

 

Fire was now sitting in the room where Starburst's birthday was meant to be with Glint.

"Things aren't going as planned Glint." Fire said.

"..." Glint said, she's one year old, she can't speak.

"Good, i'm glad then. I know you're a very formal stallion and I respect that, but are you really saying that you wont try to spread any chaos anymore?" Zeta said, starting to have a slightly hard time keeping the sword steady in his hands. "I'm willing to sacrifice my life just so you don't, for the safety of everypony here."

He had to sit down against a wall.

"Are you sure you're OK?" The stallion asked.

"I am." Starburst panted a few times as the blood started showing through the bandages,

"I'll take you back to my place." The stallion said. "I'll help you."

"One thing, I'm looking for a mare, she'll be wearing a ripped cape and a hood." Starburst said.

"I'll keep an eye out for her." The stallion said, picking him up,

Caramel finished up her tea and dropped a few bits on the table. "You havent seen an alicorn stallion walking around have you?" She asked the cafe owner

"No sweetie, aint nothing like that in this little rinky dink town"

Caramel sighed. "Alright, thanks." She said before swinging off the chair and heading back outside

Once the stallion had brought Starburst to a small house, he began to noticed details about him.

He was green, an earth pony, with brown hair.
"So, this yellow mare you're after. She important to you?" He asked.
"Yes, very, nothing more important to me in the world." Starburst replied. "What's your name?"
"Ponies call me Critic, or they used to, I rarely talk to anyone." He replied. The stallion helped Starburst with his wounds.

 

Starburst yelled out in pain at the stitching.

"Why couldn't I be unconscous for this?" Starburst asked.

"Pain builds character, besides I lost my wife the day of the outbreak, I know how it feels to lose somepony." Critic said.

Stephan just held his hooves over his head. Memories of before were coming back.

"How could I... I hurt Sirius... and Caramel..."
Light flew up to Stephan and put his hoof on his shoulder. "Calm down, bro. It's okay."

"So, other than the mare you're looking for, is there another reason why you're out here?" Critic asked.
"I killed one of my best friends, I can't ask him for forgiveness, even if I did, I'd never forgive myself so how can I expect others to?" Starburst said. "Either way, my stay here is going to have to be cut short, I must look for her." Starburst put on his cape and hat, which he felt ashamed for wearing and walked out into the cold air.
"Take care, hope you find her." Critic said.

Caramel had been walking around the shambled town, asking ponies about Starburst with no luck. She sighed and kicked the snow, frustrated. She sat down on a nearby bench and clutched the cape to her, thinking about where she would go next. She sighed, having not a clue

"I hope I find her too." Starburst saw Caramel, she was sitting on a bench, looking distressed, he wanted more than anything to run over to her and tell her he was OK, but.....all the same, maybe it was for the best that they stay apart, she could find somepony else, somepony that wouldn't put her through the hell he had. So he backed away and hid from her.

Caramel sat thinking for awhile before getting up. She had no idea where she was going, but she began to walk. She walked through the town, into the forest, and continued. All she knew was she had to find Starburst before something happened to him. She had no destination in mind, and simply hoped she ran into a town on the way

Zeta nodded a bit, then put the demon back into its sheath. But before it happened, he replied back. "Good terms, alright. And I guess I should say sorry for killing Zycrin, though you and him were going to kill someone I deeply loved."

 

Once things cleared up, Moon Wave decided it was time to go. She was getting a little chilly for being outside and didn't like how the pony taking care of her was getting all fiesty'd up. "Grand, it's time to go home now. I think it's for the better honestly, plus it's getting cold outside."

Grand sighed and grumbled as she watched the group leave. "Alright, but what about Sirius? Should we check on her? Celestia knows where Caramel ran off to. I hope she's alright but there just isnt any controlling that mare" She sighed, looking into the distance

"It'll be alright Grand." She said happily to her, trying to do the best she could to cheer her up. "We have other important matters to attend to, like Sirius for example. Thanks for reminding me actually about her, even if it may seem wrong to forget about your own daughter but you guys were all talking about something crazy that made me a little twisted around."

"Alright then, back to the hospital it is. We seem to spend far too much time there" She said, wheeling her into the hospital. She still cringed everytime she entered the hospital but she managed to ignore it. "Yes, Sirius' room please?" She said, more demanding then asking. The nurse pointed her to the room and Grand pushed Moon into it

"Alright then, back to the hospital it is. We seem to spend far too much time there" She said, wheeling her into the hospital. She still cringed everytime she entered the hospital but she managed to ignore it. "Yes, Sirius' room please?" She said, more demanding then asking. The nurse pointed her to the room and Grand pushed Moon into it

When the two arrived, they were met with a small pony who was sleeping in bed. Sirius was drugged up from getting surgery on her arm, since it would hurt too much when she was awake. Luckily they had the arm back in place and movable, though there was a full cast going from shoulder to bottom hoof.

 

From the x-ray, there was more then just 1 bone broken. There was several, including both joints snapped in two and the shoulder blade from dislocating so fast. It was really eerie to look at from the pictures, but it's what happened.

"So Grand, how is she doing?" Moon asked, a bit worried.

Grand examined the graph, seemingly unaffected by it. "Well, from what I can tell its certainly going to take some time to heal. She may need surgery, This might be a bit too severe to mend on its own, but dont worry, its certainly treatable" She said, tapping her chin. "The poor girl must have landed on it in the worst possible way to get damage like this" she said, letting her mouth run on a bit too long.

"Awww. Don't feel sorry. You've moved on, buddy. Celestia knows you can't take your eyes off of that red unicorn mare for two seconds." He said with a laugh, fading away.

Stephan simply sighed. "Good. I thought he'd never shut his trap. Appleoosa is just up ahead. C'mon, guys!" He said, looking forward at the town. Appleoosa looked like it's come a long way since their last visit. Almost as if the outbreak didn't affect them at all.
