Bass rolled his eyes with a smile at the the loosely dressed unicorn. He then looked around the room and realized he didn't have anything to wear. "Oh, uh... Oh well. All I need is my shades anyway." The stallion then proceeded to go throw on his saddlebag and levitate a bunch of disks into it, going over his planned set in his head. "I'm about ready! Hurry up, now babe!" He added a laugh to his command to show it was playful, and sat down to wait for his partner to finish dressing.

"Sorry I took so long!" Kaz exclaimed as he pulled the loose shirt tighter. "Right, I'm all ready I think... Is there anything I need?" Kaz looked puzzled as he felt he had forgotten something important. "You really should show off your eyes more, they're gorgeous." He lifted up the brown eyed stallions glasses and kissed him on the snout. "Let's go, shall we?"

"Hmm... I don't think you'll need anything.. You should be fine just like that." Bass replied as he stood back up. Then, when the white unicorn kissed him and remarked about his eyes, he blushed. "Oh.. uh.. Well, it's uh a stage thing. A theme type thing I guess." He added an awkward smile to his blush, and turned back to the door. As an aura overtook his horn, the door opened, and Bass headed through. "This gig's gonna be awesome." he proclaimed, looking back at the stallion now following him out the apartment.

"It should be, you're playing." Kaz said with a grin. He followed behind Bass as they exited the apartment onto the street and slap of noticeably colder air struck them both. "How long does it usually take you to set up? I suppose I could help a bit saying I'm supposed to be your 'assistant.'"

"Well, I don't go on until 7, and I believe this club already has most of the equipment I need on their stage... I'd say it'll take about 45 minutes to get everything put in place, tested, and leveled. Not too long. One time, we had this really young stallion who was just getting into music as a stage hand, and he wound up knocking over the halfstacks.. That took 2 and a half hours to fix and re-setup. It was lucky I'd gotten there early to meet with my manager, otherwise that show wouldn't have happened, heh." Bass continued his way down the sidewalk, and his excitement was rather apparent.

"Ooh, I'm gonna get so many bits from this show with my new label! It's gonna be so awesome! Hey, you know, come to think of it... I don't know if I ever asked what you've been doing for a living. Where do you work?" Bass turned and raised a brow at his unicorn partner as they walked.

"I urm... I used to be a paralegal at this firm that Filthy Rich owns but I lost my... job." Kaz kept his head down as he trotted along the pavement. "It was quite funny actually, it was that morning I met you at the cafe and I was late. I hated it anyway, I want to be a musician." Kaz quickly looked to Bass in the hopes of compassion.

Bass slowed a bit, now somewhat concerned. "So wait, you lost your job.... then later that night came to me, and got all lovey.. and you knew I had a decent financial standing?" At this point he completely stopped his motion, barely holding on to his disposition. He couldn't help but worry about a possibility that he'd been used. He turned away from the white unicorn now in front of him. "Isn't that a coincidence?" He scoffed. "So, what, was this all fake, just so you could have some support?" He almost broke into tears, but held a sharp tone to disguise it.

"No, that's not what I meant, Bass. Do you really think I'd do all of this just for money?! My Celestia, I didn't even realize you had a record deal." Kaz was almost in tears himself trying to reason with this resilient stallion. "I came to watch your show that night as a fan, nothing more. What happened was not planned for me either, I didn't even... I didn't even think you were like this. You always seemed like such a mare's man in the interviews. Bass, I don't need financial support, I don't even need my apartment or my things. I just need you." Kaz was flooding the streets now with the essence of his sadness, he had no idea how he would even convince Bass that his love was all that mattered to him.

"Well... well, why shou-" At this point he turned back to the stallion, and broke. Tears welled up, and streamed down his face. He looked over the stallion in front of him, and could tell he was about to break as well. "I- Kaz... You know how-" He continued to mutter, not able to formulate full sentences still. It seemed like 50 different forces were pulling on him at that one moment. He wanted to run, cry, scream, collapse, and die all at once. After moments of continued muttering he finally formulated a single sentence, "I just don't know!" he stammered, still full of tears. Luckily they were on the back street behind the apartment block, otherwise everypony in the city could've probably heard his exclamation. He finally gave in, and collapsed to the ground underneath him. All the stress got to him, and for the first time in his life, he really, truly broke. He just lay there, practically a puddle of emotion. Nopony had ever, or probably would ever again see him like this.

@@Spiritual Nightmare,

"Well... It isn't always this expensive. And I don't eat out all the time." She explained to Pondah with a grin. "And going out to eat isn't the only way to have fun, you just said you were hungry!"

Beaming, she nudged the two of them.

"I already paid while the two of you were... Y'know..."

She dropped her head to the table and made a loud snoring sound before tooling back up at them.

"... so we can go whenever you're ready."

"BASS!" Kaz plummeted to the ground next to his coltfriend. "Sweetheart, you need to stand up, you can't let people see you like this. Not in public. Not now." Kaz tried to plead with him but he was very stubborn. "Darling, look at... look at me!" Kaz raised Bass' chin and stared deep into his eyes and said "I love you, you. Not your money, not your fame. I love you. I don't care where we end up or what we have as long as we have each other. Now get up and kiss me."

"Hey... I wasn't sleeping!" Pondah argued. "I was daydreaming. I knew what was going on around me. Sort of. Slightly. A bit..."  Pondah jumped as Bubble nudged him, causing him to bump Lightning.

"As for leaving, I'll go when everyone else goes. I'm not spending any money so I have no say it what happens unless asked for.

Bass couldn't help but continue sobbing. He looked back into the purple eyes of the the stallion holding his face up. Then, he closed his eyes in a futile attempt to shield himself, "I- I." He began, and looked back down before reopening his eyes. "I know..." the tan stallion quivered. "I just.. the stress, I c-can't help it." He continued. Pulling a hoof up to wipe his eyes, he continued to lay there a while longer, trying to regain his strength, but to little avail.

I am here for you, for us." Kaz pulled Bass and held him tightly. "I'm going to have to be your assistant now and drag you to this gig... And hey, maybe I could be your groupie afterwards?" Kaz said with a slight wink at the end.

@,

"We could go find somewhere like a park, or make something, or cause some trouble..." Bubble suggested with a wry smile. "Not like, upsetting ponies trouble though! That's just sad."

Suddenly, Bubble had what she considered a monumentally great idea.

"Oh! I've got an idea! You wanted a job right? Why don't we find you one?!" She said, barely holding in a squeal of delight over having such an amazing idea.

Bass reluctantly and hesitantly stood back up. He continued wiping away his tears. As he stood, the stallion remained quiet. Then when Kaz gripped him, Bass wondered how he would even be able to perform tonight. So much was still going through his head, in a jumbled mess of thought. Finally, as he heard the comment, he looked away. Normally, he'd be the one to make the dirty joke, but right now, he just couldn't feel it. He just returned to walking, without another word. Not that he didn't want to laugh, or smile... he just didn't think he could.

"Oh, okay then." Kaz said annoyed as he raced after Bass. "Bass, what's actually the matter with you... It isn't this, I know it's not. You can tell me anything." He said as he tried to hold Bass' hoof but was rejected by a quick move away from him. "I don't want us to end up falling out."

Bass bit his lower lip as he walked. He wasn't sad, as he had by that point figured out. "Nothing. Like I said, it's just.. stress." The response came out as somewhat of a snap, which he quickly apologized for. "Sorry. I don't mean to sound like a... jerk. I just I'm sorry. I need a few moments, is that okay?" He queried as he continued his walk. Still, inside he had to process some many things that he never had to deal with before. After all, he rarely got anywhere near emotional like this. He almost felt like it was something about the city, but that would've been ridiculous. Instead of saying anything after his question, he just continued a steady pace toward the club.

Kaz stood still and let Bass walk off. "Hopefully some space will make him feel better, I've been all over him recently." Kaz thought to himself. Kaz stayed behind and felt upset at Bass' outburst. "Does he really think I'm a gold bit-digger?" He pondered over and over in his mind as continued to wander towards the club. "Wait up for me a second!" Kaz shouted after Bass.

As Kaz caught up to him, they finally made their way up to the club. As typical for his arrival to his gigs, Bass was greeted by a group of various ponies. Some were stagehands, some were technical assistants, and there was even the occasional fan. He hid his emotions again... the shades really helping this time, and signed approximately 3 autographs before meeting up with his manager. They exchanged a few words, and Bass introduced Kaz, as a temporary stagehand. They then made their way to the back of the club and began setting things up. About 35 minutes in, Bass finally spoke to Kaz directly, when the other ponies were busy with setup.

"Look I'm so sorry about earlier, Kaz. I didn't know what I was thinking.... I probably wasn't thinking at all, actually. I was just worried. Now, I'll try not to let anything like that ever happen again. Are we alright for tonight then?" He spoke sincerely and discreetly, as to not alert anypony who shouldn't hear his words.

Bass finally was returning to his normal attitude. Although he did kind of find the white unicorn's excalamation somewhat unnerving, he couldn't help but blush at it. He really did feel complimented, and his assurance that Kaz would find work helped, too. Just then, he noticed somepony had walked up to him to ask a question about the mixer settings. His blush vanished, and he turned to look at Kaz again, before quickly ushering, "Come on now, kid! We need to get setup, go help with something!" He added a somewhat awkward smile to try a disguise their conversation to the pony that approached them, and then answered the other pony's question.

However, he was struck at the word 'kid' as he was only two years younger but he let it pass. Kaz waited patiently for a response as to not arouse the suspicion of the other pony.

"So where do you want these amps Bass?"

PurpleBit was a bit confused on her first day on the job. She hadn't expected to be contacted to help as a sound technician, but she was more than happy to help out with the gig. She might even have her name somewhere on the program. Other people might call her and hire her! It was very exciting, and she worked with a spring in her trot as she dashed madly around the stage and the back placing amps in the perfect places. She wasn't sure where they were meant to be, so she nervously asked Bass with a timid voice.

However, he was struck at the word 'kid' as he was only two years younger but he let it pass. Kaz waited patiently for a response as to not arouse the suspicion of the other pony.

Bass smiled as the pony obeyed his order, and just responded with a "Cider please. I need to relax for this gig. Lot's of ponies gonna be here tonight."

"At least he's good at acting, heh. That's certainly helpful."

He then turned, and sent the other technician off with some requests, and began to fiddle with his mixing board - the one he just recently purchased. Upon noticing what disks were still in the player, he chuckled and sifted through his bag to find the proper ones for his set.

"So where do you want these amps Bass?"

Bass turned to face the new technician. She seemed eager to help, so he answered with his DJ grin on, "Right to the back of the stage over there should be fine. You new here? I don't recall you being on my crew before?" The DJ queried.
