Hello, this is my new(and first) story on MLP:FiM!

The description:

 

Lightning Chaser is a pegasus that has a rough life. He flew away from his home because his parents couldn't fund for a house, nor any food in Manehatten, his birthplace. He flew to Ponyville, where the ponies, pegasi and unicorns all lived together in Harmony...until the 5th day.

The 5th day of Lightning's stay there, a message mysteriously appears, saying to have come from Princess Celestia, and to meet her at Canterlot as soon as possible. The Princesses sent an assistant to help him get there, as some ponies have been known to murder anyone that tries to get to Canterlot.

When Lightning discovers that the assistant is a changeling, Lightning is shocked but is quickly reassured by Kropto, the Changeling, that Kropto is a good Changeling, and that he saw the "magic of friendship".

Meanwhile, Queen Chrysalis and her Changeling army are marching/flying to Canterlot, where she plans to take the Elements of Harmony and use them to rule Equestria! 

 

Chapter 1: The Becoming

 

Lightning Chaser was silently sitting on his cloud, thinking of his mum and pa in Manehatten. They were living a harsh life, barely making enough to get them an apple or two. Lightning, unable to live there anymore, decided to leave and leave he did. He flew from Manehatten all the way to Ponyville! It was an accomplishment to him, as he never flew that far before in his life. He sighed as he looked up to see more clouds. His cloud was fairly low to the ground, being only 15 feet above the Earth. He saw many different breeds of ponies in the center of Ponyville, ranging from pegasi like him to unicorns to earth ponies. Each pony had a different color, cutie mark, and mane. No two were the same, unless you were twins with another pony. Then you shared the same mane, eye color, and the sorts. Lightning wished he had a brother, or sister, or a friend. His mum and pa always said "We're so happy to have ya, Lightning."

The truth was, his mom was sick with a disease, which only lets her have one child. It's a bad disease, running in her family for generations. He hoped he didn't have the disease, as his pa was worried about him having the disease. "Whatever." Lightning said, kicking his hooves up on the cloud and sighing. "I just wish I had something to do..." Just then, a scroll hit him on the head, causing him to tumble down and hit the ground.

"Oooooow...." He groaned, getting up with the scroll in his mouth. "How am I shupposhed to read shish?" He asked himself with the scroll in his mouth.

He spit out the scroll and sighed. "How am I supposed to read this..." He looked around to find a unicorn coming his way. "E-excuse me, um, Ms.Unicorn?" He asked, getting up and looking towards the unicorn.

"Yes, do you need anything dear?" The unicorn asked, looking behind her then back at Lightning Chaser.

"Um...well, yes, you see, I have this scroll here, but I have no clue whatsoever on how to open it. And..." he looked at her horn. "You can use magic to open it, can't you?" She nodded her head and picked up the scroll with her magic. She gasped and then looked at him.

"Dearie, where did you find this?!" Lightning, surprised at the outcome of the unicorn's response, simply sighed.

"I...didn't really find it, it kind of just fell out of the sky and hit me."

"Was there a dragon? A carriage? Anything?!"

"Calm down, calm down. No, there was just me and my cloud. Why?"

"This scroll...was sent directly from the Princesses!"

Lightning gasped. "You m-mean...Princesses Luna and Celestia?" She nodded and gave him the scroll.

"A-aren't you going to read it?" She shook her head and ran back to Ponyville, where she was bound to tell everyone of her little "discovery". "Better get to reading, then." He told himself, setting the message on the ground and reading it.

Dear Lightning Chaser,

I have an urgent assignment that I believe only you are capable of doing.

But be warned, as the trip to Canterlot will be treacherous, with many dangers on the way that will want to hurt you or kill you. As said before, you MUST come to Canterlot as soon as possible.

There will be an assistant that will guide you to Canterlot.

Your ever faithful Princess,

Princess Celestia.

Taken aback by the message, he looked around for the assistant that Celestia was talking about. "Hmm...Celestia didn't really give me any details based on who the assistant looks like, but..."

"Are you Lightning Chaser?" A voice behind him said. Freaked out, Lightning Chaser shot up for the sky, not looking back.

"I was to escort...you...to Princess...Celestia..." the assistant sighed and looked up. Lightning looked down and saw the pony. He sighed as he saw the pony wave. He gently flew down and asked "Alright, who are you, what do you want with me, and more importantly, what are you?" The 'pony' has holes in his legs, he had weird green wings and a black horn.

"O-oh, pardon me, completely forgot to introduce myself, I am a Changeling, but I am nice, so I won't tear off your head like that one pony did last year-" he breathed in and started again. "So anyways, I am Kropto, and I will be your companion on the way to Canterlot. I sincerely hope you don't find me threatening, but I have no idea why I was sent here. Celestia must really trust me...then again, she did raise me, so th-"

Lightning put a hoof by Kropto's mouth and said "Shhh. There's someone coming."

Kropto looked and saw almost all of Ponyville coming at them. "We will finish introductions later, right now let's just gently fly away." The Changeling said, turning into a brown pegasus with a black circle as his Cutie Mark.

Kropto flapped his wings and, together with Lightning, flew gently up until they were about a mile up. "I doubt they will find us he-"

A scream from above made Kropto rethink his statement. The pony that screamed yelled "THERE THEY ARE!!!" Kropto and Lightning instantly started flying faster forwards, away from the screaming.

"Can you fly really fast, Master Lightning?" Kropto asked, speeding up ahead of the pegasus.

"If it's a race that you're wanting, try me." Lightning said, speeding ahead of Kropto. What will happen to me now... Lightning thought as he raced with Kropto to Canterlot, where the Princesses are.

I plan on getting the next chapter out either today or tomorrow, depends on how I feel about the subject.

The "nice" Changeling came to me when I was thinking about the assistant. The assistant should be somepony special, somepony that could possibly have a strength/weakness against the coming army.

Then the possibility of a tamed Changeling came into mind.
