Rambler smiled as he stepped off the ship. He had a good feeling about this trip, although any time you win a free vacation, it should probably warrant a good feeling, really. But more importantly, he was going to get to spend time with Minath, and it was pretty rare that she could find time for him with her job keeping her so busy. He didn't know how she'd been able to make time for this trip, but he wasn't going to question it. He would just make the most out of their time together.

Blazing stepped off of the ship, unsure of what to think. He still wasn't too good with talking to other ponies, but he still thought this was going to be helpful in some way. "Might as well see if I can meet anypony here I guess..." He said to himself. He doubted he would meet anypony who was like him, but he could at least try.

Dog Ears stepped off the ship as well. He had slept the entire time, for he had been awake all night the night before due to several animals he had to care for. He now walked onto the dock with a smile on his face. He saw another pony and trotted over to him. "Um, hey! That boat ride was pretty boring huh?"

Blazing jumped a bit when he heard the other pony. "U-uh... Y-yeah, I guess." He stuttered. Off to a great start already... He thought sarcastically. He had already seemed weird talking to the first pony he met, so he was almost sure he had no chance of making friends here either. "Well... it was worth a try at least." He said under his breath.

Dog Ears arched an eyebrow. "What do you mean? Anyway I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Dog Ears." He smiled at the pony, who seemed to be very shy. Dog Ears wanted to get as many friends as possible. Maybe even a special some pony... But he didn't see any mares yet so he ignored that thought for now.

Dog Ears arched an eyebrow. "What do you mean? Anyway I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Dog Ears." He smiled at the pony, who seemed to be very shy. Dog Ears wanted to get as many friends as possible. Maybe even a special some pony... But he didn't see any mares yet so he ignored that thought for now.

Dog Ears' smile grew wider. But he was genuinely surprised that this pony hadn't made a remark on his appearance. Granted Dog Ears didn't mind when ponies did so, it was just that most ponies did. "Nice meeting you Blazing! So uh... hmmm... Do you have any pets? I don't really know what else to ask..." Dog Ears grinned sheepishly at the orange unicorn.

I have plenty of animals that need owners. I like to think you'll recognize me. I kind of stick out a bit." Dog Ears flipped up one of his ears, which folded back down. He had said the last sentence in a casual and joking tone.

Blazing fell silent after that, not sure of what else to say. Well... At least I made some conversation... It's a start... He thought. He did notice something though. Dog Ears had what looked like, well, dog ears. Maybe I'm not the only different one here... He thought. He wasn't going to mention it yet, but he couldn't use magic, and was treated differently then everypony else because of it.

Esme trotted happily off the cruise ship, and gasped in surprise at the resort. To be honest, when she got the letter, she thought it was a scam, until the raffle she entered crossed her mind. She was so excited that she started flying around the small apartment she lived in. Since the cruise first started four days ago, it's been nothing but excitement and anticipation that comes with a trip. And now, seeing this tropical island, it just put her over the edge. Palm trees littered the area around a large... Beach. Oh boy. Nothing else was going to get done as long as there was a beach here. She abandoned her saddlebags, which she had packed all her stuff in, and ran towards the water. Esme didn't stop running when the water hit her hooves, until the thickness of the liquid made it nearly impossible to continue. Her wings unfolded from their respectful places on her sides, and she dove right in. The water flowed past her light blue coat, ruffling her mane. It was just a short dip, though, and she pulled back up to the surface. She climbed to the shore, feathers soaking and mane messed up. "Well, I see the beach's pretty awesome."

Dog Ears didn't know what else to say to the pony. "Um, I think I'll go find where I'm staying. I hope I'll see you around sometime!" Dog Ears gave the unicorn one last smile before trotting in a different direction, not sure if it was the right direction. He eventually stumbled upon a beach and saw another pony getting out of the water. He waved in greeting. "Hi there!"

Esme slightly shook her head to swipe her mane out of her eyes without raising a hoof. Her wet wings drooped lamely at her sides, unable to be used until they were dried. The separate strands of her feathers were spread apart, and her mane was sopping and tangled as well. Despite how wet she was, her appearance didn't suffer much, some could even call her attractive in an offhand sort of way. She noticed somepony talking to her, looked over, and saw the stallion in question. He was a little on the abnormal side, Esme could see that his ears were similar to a dog's. Even so, she raised her front right hoof as a friendly gesture towards him, then slowly trotted up.

"Hey, there, I'm Esme."

Blazing noticed the other two ponies talking, and decided to leave them to their own conversation. "Wow... That's helpful... First mare here and she's already getting to know the other guy first..." He said quietly to himself. He had always had a bad habit of expecting the worst, even though he tried not to. "Well, there will be other mares, right?" He asked himself. Other ponies would most likely think he was crazy if they saw him like this.

I suppose being the captain of the weather team isn't exactly a minimum wage job, but I have an unemployed little dragon to support at home... Ya know, I wonder how Eldrich is, all alone. Oh, that's right, she went back to Clawsington to visit her family. Well, I hope she's having fun there. Oh, crap, I was rambling again, huh? I'm sorry about that... So, do you have any pets?"

Dog Ears had been listening intently to everything the mare had been saying. She seemed pretty interesting, and when she asked him if he had any pets, his eyes lit up. "Yea! I have tons! Well I really only have one, but I take care of a ton. I have a dog named Nestle. I helped him when he was a puppy and adopted him."

Esme's wet mane shifted a bit as she moved her head upward in pride.

"Well, let's just say I've been supporting another living being who eats almost twice as expensively as the average pony, you know, with the gems, and all. And you know how I've been doing that? I control the ponies who control the weather. That's right, every sunny day, every nice sun shower, every chilly winter night is all thanks to me. Because I'm the wether team captain! Everypony looks up to me! And not bad pay, either. Ya know, my mom always told me that someday the world would know the name Esmerelda Green! Well, ok, really only the wether pegasi really know my name, but, still!" Esme calmed down a bit, and panted a little. It seemed that she hadn't taken a breath during the entire thing. She looked back down slightly, and blushed a little. "Dear Celestia... Sorry for bragging, and everything. My dragon is trying to teach me to be more considerate... But sometimes I just get so pumped up just thinking about my job!"

Dog Ears laughed. "Yea don't worry. I get passionate about my job too. I take care of animals for a living. Either pets that ponies bring to me when they go on vacation or when the pet is hurt, or if me and Nestle find an injured animal in a forest I'll take them in as well." I wonder what a baby dragon looks like... I mean I saw Spike when I took Nestle to Fluttershy's but... Do they all look like that? It would be interesting to see other dragons.

Esme was combing through her now almost dry mane with her still slightly damp wings, and looked down a little to get a good angle.

"That's pretty cool. I was never very good with animals, though. I mean, sometimes I see Fluttershy in town with all of those little pets of hers, and I kinda mentally freak. I wouldn't be able to live like that." She finished fixing her mane and moved on to preening her feathers.

"Sho, where do you liv? I hve an aprtment in dwntwn Chicaclt, but shinsh it'sh near Pnyville, I mainly shpend mosht of my time ther."

Dog Ears chuckled a little. "Fillydelphia. Nice place. So you know Fluttershy? She's taking care Nestle while I'm here. Now that I think about it... I'm basically the Fluttershy of Fillydelphia. Maybe that should be my new title. Dog Ears: The Fluttershy of Fillydelphia." He grinned at the idea.

Esme chuckled and let go of the wing she was preening. She sat there for a moment with a funny look on her face, then turned to the side and spit out a bit of feather. She wiped her mouth, and turned back towards Dog Ears. Esme opened her mouth slightly to say something, then a coconut from the tree above them fell on her head. It hit the top, sat there for a bit, then slowly started to roll down her forehead. After it did a small jump off her snout, she quickly caught it with her wings. She gingerly rubbed her head, then, after a minute, started laughing.

"C'mon, let's crack this baby open. You like coconut?"

"I know what to do while I wait for other ponies!" Blazing said to himself. He laid down in the sand, away from the others that were already there. He was usually happiest when he was asleep, so he decided to lay there and sleep while he had the chance, no matter how stupid it was going to make him look.

Dog Ears laughed at what had happened. He nodded eagerly at Esme's question. "Yea I like coconut. I don't really know how I would go about breaking it open, but I'm sure you know how." Dog Ears smiled at the pegasus. She was nice, if not a little hyperactive. Dog Ears wondered how any other ponies he would befriend here.

Esme smiled. "Watch." She trotted closer to the beach house they were staying in and tried to crack it on a nearby bench. When it didn't work, she looked astounded at it, her eyes wide. "Wha? But, but, this always works...." She sighed, and set it on the ground. Esme raised her back hoof and brought it down hard upon the coconut's brown outer shell. It made a little noise, and cracked just a bit. She repeated the motion until the fruit was visibly cracked. She turned, scooped it up with her right wing, and tore it on the crack so the white was showing. She gave one half to Dog Ears and showed a small smile. "These are the wings of somepony who mixes rainbows and creates tornados."
