Kodiak 431 October 26, 2011 Share October 26, 2011 I was watching Lesson Zero a while ago and started thinking about this. I'm thinking she was constantly harassed by the other ponies since she couldn't use magic that well (got that from the Cutie Mark Chronicles). This lead to her pushing everypony away by using her studies as an excuse. Doctor XFizzle 8,669 October 26, 2011 Share October 26, 2011 That's certainly plausible since Canterlot seems to be a highly magical city/society. Maybe she just had super demanding (yet still loving) parents, like high expectations for magic and since she didn't want to disappoint her parents, she studied 24/7 to meet and beat those expectations. Broniesinarms 34 October 26, 2011 Share October 26, 2011 (edited) she seems younger than the rest of the mane 6. (possibly younger than best pony) I think smarty pants was her closest friend and they spent ages studying together which was because/ the cause of her sociophobic tendencies. It is worth noting she seems to be friends with lyra to some degree, as lyra was friendly towards her in the beginning of episode 1. she was proberbly bullied in school and spent a lot of time reading. Her parents always gave her encouragement in her work. in short I think she was very nerdy. (someone should do a white and nerdy PMV for her) Edited October 26, 2011 by Broniesinarms 1 V-the birth of my bronyhood-V http://www.funnyjunk...r/broniesinarms http://broniesinarms...rt.com/gallery/ will update it nearly everyday
LiquidLove 80 October 26, 2011 Share October 26, 2011 Yes, I also believe she was bullied as a filly. Only someone who had that happen would be so worried about people laughing at her...
LyraHeartstrings 482 October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 She probably began reading very early and fell in love with it. She didn't want to socialize with other fillys, she just wanted to read. Then when she became obsessed with magic, she almost stopped talking to other ponies all together. It may have been her parents, but I think it was her own choices. Maybe her parents had jobs that required a lot of magic or work and their work ethic passed onto Twilight. 2 Why are you dragging your cursor over my signature? Is there a problem here? Do you maybe expect something special? Honestly, that's kind of creepy. Are you trying to get as much information about me as possible? Maybe you're going to copy and paste this into onto your little collage or all things Lyra? (me, not the awesome BG pony...) You seriously have issues dude... I pity you. Octavia2 83 October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 She was probably taught to get things done and get them done right from when she was very young. When you're young, whatever parents tell you has a huge affect on who you will be. Her parents probably had high expectations for Twilight, and so enrolled her in the best magic school in the city. Her studious attitude led to a love for knowledge and reading, and eventually she became almost completely anti - social. The fact she lived in a high class city filled with magic factored into her attitude too.
Lupus 127 October 27, 2011 Share October 27, 2011 Don't forget how powerful the impact of seeing Celestia raise the sun was for her. I think adult ponies generally tolerated any oddities in her - the ones she pushes in front of look affronted, see its a youngster and are fine with it. Her parents seem very supportive to me.
