To Kill A Mockingbird and MLP?

Now, TKAMB (to kill a mockingbird) was huge hit in adult novels back in their day and one of the reasons why because it had a dramatic but realistic moral which shows the passion and energy that Harper Lee put into it. Now after watching MLP, do ya think that MLP should have an episode or a two parter based off this novel? Except the ya know the R-a-p-i-n-g part and the slight language?

I think Atticus Finch would make a great pony. We need more male characters to look up to. Maybe call him Attacolt Finch or something. I'd be interested in exactly how you think the book's plot could be adapted for ponies, though.

References to perhaps, but not a based on. Based on episodes in any show are usually pretty weak, just like the clip-show episode and the groundhog day episode. In this case it's hard enough to write an engaging story for a wide age range in today's market. Attempting to lift entire storylines from specific novels for one age-group and yet fit it into the ongoing series for another is asking a bit much of the writers.

If they pull it off, then props to them, but it's not something I would wish on them.

So, basically what you're asking for is an MLP episode addressing racism?

Because that's essentially what the story revolves around.

Still though, it'd be nice to see the pony equivalent of Boo Radley.

To kill a mockingbird is about racism but I want MLP to make a reference or a based on or some elements from the book. Cause the book is about innocence, courage, the dark side of humanity, prejudice and etc. Having an episode about these particular elements will be good in MLP. Now I didn't mean a racist MLP episode but does the same way in Bridle Gossip as in never judge a book by its cover, which is, once ya get down to it, is racism itself.

I understand about MLP not having a based on episode but a reference or element would be nice cause the book and MLP have so much and it would be really cool in my opinion! ;)

I love reading classic novels and To Kill a Mocking Bird is one of my favorites.  MLP would never have an episode devoted to it, but if it made a reference to it in a future episode, that would be great.

I don't think TKAM needs any sort of remake or alternate twist. I think it's best left alone. It's one of the greatest novels ever written, plus there's a movie for non-book people. Also, Atticus Finch is probably the greatest role model ever, so I recommend people show the original to children. Yeah, there's rape and slight language, but I think it is acceptable to show in the context of such an incredible story and moral.

I'd find this very interesting, but I don't see it happening. There hasn't been much racism to date against ponies. HOWEVER, if we were to create a society of unicorns where they felt Earth ponies were lesser in nature akin to the African Americans in To Kill a Mockingbird, that would be interesting.
