gaming Next-Gen RPG "Lords of the Fallen" to offer Dark Souls-esque challenge

I've yet to see anything but the initial no-gameplay trailer of the game but it definitely got my attention (and not just because it says RPG. )

 

What say you, Dark Souls fans?

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt but I am curious as in terms of story also. Kind of what made Dark Souls the game it is just like Demon's Souls is how perfect the story fitted into everything,not just some random brutal game that had no real story worth learning about.

I think the great thing about them is less story and more the locales and the background stories behind them (though if you wanna be technical that's still story. )

 

My favorite thing about the Souls series is the amazing level designs and the atmosphere that comes with them though I've never beaten a single one cuz I suck at them.

Well the back story/lore is a part of the story, it just give you a bigger idea of what everything was like then, now, who is, who was, and what happened. 

 

The main fear I have with any game is do they answer what this thing/place is, why/how it happened, and so on and so forth so you get a general idea. Especially when you consider the modern day "challenges" are just slapping AI to an annoying health and damage output with god-like precision and call it hard. 

Like I said though, I will give this game the benefit of the doubt.

Indeed. It's because of stuff like high damage output but on change in enemy behavior that I don't play on harder modes. It's more tedious than anything and I don't have the patience to redo something over and over again just because enemies get a lucky shot in that kills me when I could just play the game on normal and destroy it.

I love Dark Souls but this doesn't appeal to me. I prefer to make my own character rather than play as some grizzled, no-neck, meat mass.

I haven't seen much of this game but there's always the possibility it'll allow for character creation. I personally don't care about making characters and prefer there to be preset, fully written ones. Leaves far more room for story and I hate silent protagonists that come with many characters that are created by the player.
