Hello everypony,

I noticed someone mentioned liking gundam in the Anime thread. So I wanted to know if any of you like watching the anime, playing the games, building the models. Do you like a universe in particular? What got you into it? (lemme guess... Wing ;) )

For me, I was asked by a friend to bring him a kit from Japan and when I saw him building it I was sad not to have picked up one for myself. He was nice enough to bring me one back from China. I built it, was intrigued by the story and so I watched the 00 series.

feel free to discuss favorite character, mobile suit, serie.

I only ever watched G Gundam to completion, but I own all 3 Dynasty Warriors Gundam games, so I at least know most of the main characters and Gundams. My favorite Gundam and pilot has always been Duo Maxwell and the Deathscythe. I never watched Wing, but I've seen enough clips to know that the Deathscythe is one kickass machine! I was so excited when I found out that it was in DWG 3.

yay,

It's nice to see there are a few gundam fans here.

My personal favorite series is 00. it was my first and the fact that it was based in our world made even more involving.

Super Muffin Derpy 506 : G is one of the few ones I haven't watched (yet). I haven't found it subbed and I'm afraid the plot is too over the top for me...

BeanOfTheSoy : I totally dig Seed too (a little too much "ATHRUN! / KIRA!" :P )

Legendary Emerald : I liked Wing OK, though the story didn't compel me as much as 00, Seed, Zeta or Age presently.

anyway, what do you ponies think of the ideas behind gundam. war and peace, mutual understanding, revenge?

I think Kira and Setsuna would totally dig the brony values^^

I grew up watching Gundam Wing! I would stay up EVERY night to watch it on Toonami Midnight Run, so much awesome in one show and the movie Endless Waltz blew my mind when I was 13! My favorite since has been Gundam Seed, it's a little preachy about pacifism but it is still awesome! My least favorite is G gundam, I don't know why but I never got into that series, other than that I like them all. Has anyone seen any more of Gundam: Unicorn? I watched the first two episodes that came out and I have not been able to find anymore!

From what experience I have with the SEED pilots, Athrun is my favorite(Infinite Justice is awesome) and Shinn(Destiny is my backup melee based suit on DWG 2 and 3) is a close second. Setsuna and the 00 are my favorite balanced suit(TRANS-AM...RAISER!!!). Milliardo and the Epyon are my second favorite suit from Wing(behind the one and only Duo and Deathscythe combo). My friend loves Heero and the Wing Zero, but he is a little too shot based for my liking. Edited by super muffin derpy506

Larko : gundam Unicorn is up to episode 4 on Animefreak (just google it). If you watched Seed or Zeta some stuff is going to look familiar

SMD506 : my best friend has DWG2 and I saw him play. it looks just awsome. My only knock on it is that you fight 10x the amount of enemies that they fight in the anime. don't you find you got to destroy BOATLOADS of grunts?

Anyway, anypony has built any of the kits?

I have built about a dozen now and it's a hobby I enjoy because you just sit down, model away and relax.

I have a model kit for the Deathscythe that I got as a gift years ago, but I'm not that good at model building, so I've just left it in the box.

Sad to hear that it's just sitting in a box... is it a Master Grade or a High Grade? if it's a MG then I understand. I got frustrated with my first MG and it was already my tenth model, it took me a whole three days to put together. Are you good with paints? if you are, SD kits are a breeze to put together and look pretty cool without taking much space.

The only Gundam I'm familiar with is "War in the Pocket" and "8th MS Team". I have both series on DVD. I thought both were very good. I haven't seem much of any other Gundam though.
