I absolutely adore The Fifth Element. It was one of my childhood movies and one of the reasons Bruce Willis became one of my favorite actors.

Hm. I am not sure how it would do in today's era. Some movies are fantastic because of the era they came out in. 5th Element was  funny, actiony, and cheesy which fit the 90s beautifully. I feel they will CGI the heck out of it and then make it more serious D:

Although you gotta admit for not having the new effects technology (he said that the movie was made just before new stuff came out) that movie looked absolutely amazing. The scene where they were rebuilding Leelu was probably the most amazing special effects I'd ever seen and it still stands up to today's standards.

I 100% agree. Movies today are WAY too serious. People seem to forget that movies can be silly and cheesey. I mean, look at Street Fighter. Terrible movie, yes, but the cheese and humor really makes it a fun movie to watch. Same with Mario Brothers or Richie Rich.

 

This is why I loved Abe Lincoln Vampire hunter. It was over-the top awesomeness!

I haven't seen the Abe Lincoln one. I'm not much of a movie watcher so there's a lot of movies that I don't even notice exist but that's one I kinda wanted to see. D:

 

I hate the fact that people act like being cheesy means it shouldn't be taken seriously anymore though. Cheese helps add personality but it shouldn't necessarily be seen as any less serious than something without cheese imo.

That is why I loved the 90s so much. It didn't take itself very seriously in terms of films. Flintstones movie was a perfect example of this. It is probably one of the best live action movies based off a a cartoon ever made.

 

I highly recommend Vampire Hunter. it's VERY over the top (there is a scene where a vampire throws a horse and Abe catches it, spins it around and rides it!). But in a very good way

Another is the Korean version of Volcano High. The story makes zero sense but all you need to know is that it is basically Live Action Dragon ball - shooting energy balls at each other!

 

Versus is also amazing. Mafia Zombies that use guns and are super powered!

Man, Asians really know how to make a great fight scene whether it's animated or live action. Both of those videos are super amazing. I knew there was a reason I was a big anime fan.

That they do. The guy who did VERSUS also did a few other actiony movies. One of them is ALIVE which only has action at the end of the film, but the who film is about suspense. Very good if you can get past the slow opening

If I can get past Wall-E's slow opening I'm sure I can get past any movie that is slow to start but ends on a high note.

 

Although nowadays I just skip to the good parts of Wall-E when I do watch it.
