Opinions on this OC?

So this was pretty much my first MLP oc that I really loved, and he was also my first and only male pony for awhile cx For awhile I let him sit on the sidelines but after joining the forums and picking up OCs again I want to build up his character.

 

This is all his original info, sort of the short and sweet version of him. I still like him and the idea that Earth ponies can make everything unicorns can but without magic. So I guess I want to hear people's opinions and what you might think would make his character more complete or interesting? XD Sometimes I don't trust my own OCs.

 

- Maybe metal accessories?

- More personality

- How hold hammer and such?

I did a quick sketch of him with more accessories to him. Just simple metal rings

and then he wear an old type of bit around his neck <3 Because old coins are awesome...

I added colors because I just couldn't help myself cx He looks so cute and chubs sitting

down like that, and it makes me like the metal.
 

 

 

Personality:
Forge has a pride streak nearly a mile wide, pride for Earth ponies and his family in general. When his father and grandfather started to teach him the family trade he couldn't have been a more excited young colt. He soon found his gift with metal work of all kinds. His pride is balanced out by his helpful nature, and a rather soft heart for those in need of help. He has been known to lend a hand where it is needed around his home town even if he can't give away a project or commission without charge. Forge is in general friendly but can get on the loud side, his mother often calling him a small whirlwind of fire when he gets passionate about something.

Honestly, I actually rather like him. The color scheme is fine and not eye-bleeding while his description is nice as well. It says he forges different items from metals, and for some reason, I'm imaging some type of metal necklace around his neck area or metal bracelets around his hooves. Maybe some type of jewelry other than his bandanna possibly? I actually like him, and I'm not used to not being able to think of a way to better an OC.

I like the idea of having a character from the past, I also really like the way he looks, and the name that fits the character description!
My favorite part is the cutie mark though. It looks so cool and matches the rest of the character! :DD

You probably had this before condensing it but personality and a bit of personal history would make this a great oc instead of just a good one, at least in my opinion. I really like it, mostly because of its simplicity. I generally don't like huge complex characters with really deep ridiculously long backgrounds. But I must point out that he should probably get a good dentist if he's gonna be holding the hammer with his mouth.

Forgot to really say anything about the appearance... I absolutely love it. Perfectly done color scheme, hair and tail that fit pretty well along with the fact that the cutie mark looks anazing. I'm not sure what it is about the cutie mark,but it looks really nice. Actually kinda wish I had this guy in one of my canceled fanfics. Might have been able to keep it going... But, oh well.

Something like that could possibly work. The regular metal cuffs and then some type of leather necklace with either his cutie mark, a coin, or a jewel. Whatever works best for you.

Unless the hammer has a grip molded like his teeth, lol. 

Still would hurt like heck to hammer metal but it would lessen the hurt.

Thank you c: His hair was fun, and I didn't really want to go with completely tractional colors.

I also normally wouldn't sneak anything close to pure white in a color scheme, but when fire is close to burning

at its hottest point it is white or a shade of light blue. I forget which one, but I got close enough XD;

I can't fix things yet because I won't have my tablet until maybe tomorrow so...

More ideas anyone? XD I will probably do multiple sketches to test out things.

I like him.  His color scheme is excellent, and I really like the cutie mark design.  The only thing about it that might be worth changing would be to make it look more like an F than a P.  If that were my artwork, it would have taken me forever to achieve that level of quality, but since it's you, and you can churn out stuff like that pretty quickly and with apparent ease, you might contemplate making him more big and buff like Big Macintosh, since he's a blacksmith.  But he looks great as he is.

I'm picturing a steel collar, hoof-bracelets, or "arm" cuffs wrought in Viking-style knotwork.  Uber-manly, but also shows off his skill and craftsmanship (craftsponyship?).   Along the lines of this in terms of design aesthetic and levels of skill and craftsmanship, but (probably) not sword-related.

 

If you're planning to post him to the Character Database (i.e., have more room for writing than that nifty "trading card" style portrayal allows), I think it would be good to see more of his personal back-story in addition to the family back-story given, along with some personality attributes, flaws, quirks, and so on.

 

Anyway, I think he's a great OC, and I'd be delighted to be in an RP with him.

Ooh kinda like the Andrew Carnegie of MLP. I like it. The design is really awesome, the style is amazing, the backstory...the everything about this OC is just plain awesome.

He has an interesting backstory and color scheme as well. (the concept you see here is probably more original than 70% of all the ocs in this fandom)

 

The reference sheet itself is also very well done although the pony neck seems to be a bit off....

 

P.S. He has a VERY similar color scheme to my OC, which is actually pretty cool xD

Forge is a character that lives in present day but his family still keeps old traditions, like the way they still finish winter without magic.

Orange/Yellow ponies are best ponies cx

Ok guys I'm not really sure what to write for his backstory, I mean I have the short description up there of is old bio.
That isn't really a backstory though just a short snippet of why he has the cutie mark he does and all that. I suppose
I could go more in depth as to who his family is, and their accomplishments.
