VanellopeSofia 32 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 Okay, my birthday is this Saturday and she's agreed to watch 22 minutes of MLP as a pseudo-gift. Now I'm faced with the daunting task of choosing 1 of 65 episodes. I'm leaning towards the first episode considering it ends emotionally unconcluded and she may want to watch part 2, I don't want to do the discord episodes because you need to know the characters for it to be funny Any suggestions? Scootalove 10,689 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 You should show your cousin Lesson Zero, Wonderbolts Academy, Hurricane Fluttershy, and maybe the first two episodes of Season One if your cousin has time for that. Dark Qiviut 22,388 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 (edited) You can definitely go with the two-part pilot, for they're responsible for setting the stage for the rest of the series. A couple of other season one episodes that come to my mind are Winter Wrap-Up and Party of One. When it comes to high-quality writing, storytelling, and characterization, they are among the cream of the crop. Party of One has the insane Pinkie Pie antics that demonstrate her serious connection to her friends (and how bipolar she can be, too), while Winter Wrap-Up is much simpler and focuses on Twilight's ability to adapt to the more conservative environment within a tightly knit community in Ponyville. Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 I guess the first episode would be okay but I'd go with an episode that has a lot going on or something no other preschool show would normally have like Dragonshy, Lesson Zero, Return of Harmony, Felling Pinkie Keen, A canterlot wedding or the crystal empire
VanellopeSofia 32 October 1, 2013 Author Share October 1, 2013 I guess the first episode would be okay but I'd go with an episode that has a lot going on or something no other preschool show would normally have like Dragonshy, Lesson Zero, Return of Harmony, Felling Pinkie Keen, A canterlot wedding or the crystal empire I was thinking about a canterlot wedding but the first part is super wedding-y and the second is where it gets epic so I dunno if she'll want to stay around after the first one. After seeing the replies so far I'm thinking to go to Lesson Zero or Party of One to show her that, as you put it, mlp has things no other preschool show would have
FruitRiver 355 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 (edited) You should do Read it or Weep! You know, cause that episode is awesome. Don't do the first episodes, they aren't as interesting and are a bit on the girly side. I would wait until she was into ponies for that. Antismurf9001 1,271 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 (edited) This is always a tough question. On one hand, showing the pilot is great because it is a pretty good introduction to all of the characters and the fact that it is in two parts may convince her to watch the second on her own (like what happened to myself). On the other hand, many don't find it to be particularly interesting and simply stop watching there, even after watching part 2 (again, like what happened to myself (obviously, I continued later, but that wasn't for a couple of months)). My suggestion would honestly be (if you know your cousin well enough) to show her an episode that showcases a character that fits her personality. Emperor Posh 360 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 I got hooked on the first episode, I wanted to find out what happened and ended up watching episode 2 and then so on until I finished all 3 seasons. I really think it's that to be continued that gets people hooked, it sits in the back of their mind and they just have to find out what happens next. Atleast that's how it was for me Random white text!
Denim&Venöm 18,782 October 3, 2013 Share October 3, 2013 Show an episode that has a fair amount of drama and emotional duress to it. -Lesson Zero and Party of One for how Twi & Pinky loose their minds, -Wonderbolt Academy for Dash being forced to question her faith in the Wonderbolts -Suited for Success for Rarity nearly having her fashion career ruined by her friends. -Sleepless in Ponyville for Scootaloo constantly being afraid of disappointing Rainbow Dash Just try to show them why MLP is more than just a kids show.
