planning MLP Text Adventure (Story Details/Rules/Suggestions) Come Help!

Hello Everypony,

Today i would like to talk to ya'll about an idea that me and some people have been thinking about. The Idea is to have a user based story that once a day, people post on a thread about what should happen next in the story, like an text adventure (If you've ever played one). So, what would happen is that people would converse in the thread/post their ideas, and later that day I would log on and Brohoof whoever's suggestion i like the most. After this, i would write the next part of the story, based on the action that i liked the most, or one of the most brohoofed comments. This idea is still and the works and i would like to dedicate this topic to finish the planning and start this adventure up. I can't start this thing until some people have posted on this topic and i have decided on how im going to run this. So please, if you have the time, post your response to the questions below or if not just post that your interested, every bit counts towards making this a successful, long term project. This is not going to be a very fast paced/rapidly changing story, be one that will be played out in a way that there will always be something to add. I don't expect to crank out a short story, so don't expect this to be something that will be finish anytime within the next few months. I will try to be as dedicated as i can, and you can count on me not to lose interest after a few short weeks.


**If you dont know what a text adventure is, look it up, and imagine it on a forum**

After taking with friends outside of the forum, we have concluded that the story will be launched on a designated site. If you do not like this, feel free to make a post against it within the next few days, as it will be official at the turn of the week. We felt like having a separate page for each post is the best way to organize the story, will be open to the public, and can eventually direct more attention to this forum in the future (Don't be afraid to spread the word)

 

Unless we have objection/rules that will change our minds, the website will be posted shortly, and discussions on the next topics will start

So far about 20 people are involved in the creation of this project, so we will not fail to at least get this up n' running.

As always, follow and post to this thread so we can get even more people to prepare for the story

Feel free to private message me at anytime, and i will respond be the end of the day

• Where the story will be posted, most likely a dedicated website, so that the official posts aren't lost in the thread
• Brohoofs or my choice...or both
• Picture for each post?    Artists will be needed
• List of characters
• This subforum or roleplaying one

 

Remember that this story will be open to everypony and will never be close... everyone will get a shot to change the lives of our future cast.

 

Nothing is certain right now, the earlier you help the better i will get to know you, and the greater chance that when i need a character, i'll come to you

 

If any artists would like to be a sort of co-creator on this story, anypony who can make decent pictures of a scene in a small amount of time, just mention it in a post/ send me some art and i'll try to fit you in to this equation

You can use My OC Chain Mail if you want. I've always loved this sort of adventure, mostly because I had like 20 of their books.

As for where, a private thread so that only you can update in it with a second thread for ideas

ya, more or less. Once we figure everything out we'll have our own forum page where we can decide each day what i'll write on next, and basically general discussion on the development of the story. Its a hard concept to grasp, but once we get more people, it will be a pretty cool experience. One of the problems other people had is that it felt like they would have a role, but its fun to have your idea change the way the story turns out the next day

 

Once we get all the rules/logistics worked out we will be able to start so keep in touch

That's a bad way of wording it but I can't describe what I mean any better than that. Regardless, love the idea and I'd love to help out. I'm decent at story's and pacing, and I can throw together pretty much any kind of characters you might need.

Yes, in a way. The idea is to to be a story where people in the forum can vote on a simplistic idea about the next paragraph or so, and I will write a more or less informal response and a picture. If anyone has any doubts about following the thread, just do it because it takes no commitment to be involved, just a well liked idea

By the way, I think the first thing we should decide is the name. Seeing the it can be about anything, make it general.

Just an update

In order to get thing started and interest in it raised, The adventure will start as soon as we complete the site sometime this week

So i would like to invite you all to start the discussion about the start of the story below, as this thread will no longer be used for figuring out the logistics of this all.
