Has anyon else been looking forward to this lovely little sprite-based gem?  I have had a love of this series for a LONG time and was curious if there were any fellow bronies who like it too!

Yes! Yes! So much Yes! I'm honestly surprised that anyone would mention this game at all here though, being such a niche series and all. I'm going to pick up a copy this weekend yay.png.

I'm going to wait for the portable adaptation just so save a couple of buck of DLC and get exclusive goodies XD. I'm curious about the redesign of the male healer class, yeah, disgaea they looked ambiguous, but they looked like preteen boys, disgaea 3 were obviously male, but delicate, but here............. OMG, WHY THE HELL DID THAT MADE THEM SOOOOOOOO CUTE AND ADORABLE, THEY EVEN HAVE CUTE FANGIES GOOD GOD

I had thought about waiting for it, but...  I CAN'T!!  I HAVE A PROBLEM< I ADMIT IT!!  WAAAAAAAHHH!!!!  *sniffles*

Actually, I just got it because I don't know if there WILL be a handheld one.  Disgaea 3 handheld didn't sell so well and I haven't heard anything about D4 yet. :(

So of course I picked up my copy today and played like all day. I don't know if I'll ever make a female healer, the male healer is just too irresistible! I'm liking the new evilities system so far but having to check the enemies evilities constantly is going to take a little getting used to.

Have you seen the martial artists' normal attack going up to like 4 hit combos and what not, it's crazy ohmy.png

And I love how they remixed the old theme Welcome to the Overlord's Castle in Devil Pop Star. Speaking of soundtracks, I love it when developers include the OST with the game; I wish more would do that.

And there's absolutely no way I could wait for a handheld version that may or may not be coming. Heck, it takes a lot of effort just to resist importing the JP version, but I really like the english voice acting in the Disgaea series, it's worth the wait.

I know, this game is just amazing!  I just wish that I had more time to play it, but between filming this, playing Pokemon Y, and filming my WWE 13 and Saints Row series, it's just hard to sit and enjoy it. XD

So I've poured pretty much all of my time into this game and have gotten to the final boss... and I was promptly wrecked, wiped out pretty much instantly. I guess it's time to come up with a strategy; I would go grind out some levels but I'm already pretty close to the final boss' level for most of my team, I don't want to overlevel my way through the story. I'll just get everyone up to acceptable levels, buy some recent gear and then try again, I guess. I think I got behind on the weapon mastery levels too, only two of my characters have learned their 4th weapon skill, and yet the enemies have been using them on me for quite a while now huh.png.

I feel like this Disgaea is a little more challenging than the others because of the evility changes and the defense stat being more effective. I've had more than my fair share of game overs so far :X

It's a game series that's caught my eye, I have Hour of Darkness over here but I'm having a little trouble getting past the somewhat "creepy" direction in character design if you catch my drift.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Etna is as bad as it gets, none of the other characters come close to that level. Of course, it doesn't help that, in Hour of Darkness and Dimension 2, you'll be seeing Etna all the time... But it's a T rated series, I swear! img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png

It's more the unfortunate implications of the head artists style and character design choices that creep me out, the cover of his artbook doesn't help matters any, either.

Yeah, I agree the art style's not for everyone, but it strikes me as Burton-esque.  Cute and twisted all the same.

Also, one of the best strategies I've found for defeating Disgaea end bosses is to level up a thief and let them steal their equipment, then slap it on your best character and use it against them.

Now if they have no equipment?  Keep your distance from them and use ranged attacks, then send one of your little grunt characters in to lift them and end your turn.  The grunt will die on the enemy turn, but the enemy won't get to move or attack. Cheap, but effective. XD

Well this guy annihilated me before I could even try. It was kinda funny really, to see the bulk of my fighting force erased just after I finished off the boss' minions. He probably could've destroyed me without having a weapon equipped too; tera wind (pretty much the only attack I got to use on the boss in the battle) did so little damage, I'd probably have to buy 40 turns worth of time to kill the boss with just that move. I don't know if this is a difficulty spike or if I just managed to work my way through to the end while underleveled/equipped/etc. like I tend to do in most RPG.

But I remember having a strategy in the past games where I would have a prinny equipped with the bulkiest muscles I could get/make just so I could throw him. Admittedly, I did it more for fun than the effectiveness, but one one of their evilities in this game could make that even more effective ( and fun, of course img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png).

And I just remembered throwing some of my members that magichanged with a prinny back in Disgaea 3. Woops...

I think disgaea 4 portable was announced, and disgaea 3 absence of detention low sales it's because the PS Vita has low sales overall. It's worrying, I know the PSP wasn't as successful as the DS, but the vita is three steps backwards, and I haven't heard of any good games for it as of late

I can't find anything recent on Disgaea 4 Portable..  I soooo wish I could.  I love these games in portable format!  The stages are just the right lngth for a short ride and the item world is good for a long train or plane ride. :)

So I beat the story yesterday. I had decided to grind all my main characters up until the point where they learned their 3rd unique skill; it just didn't feel right trying to beat the boss without Laharl dropping meteors on everyone's head img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png. Anyway, I managed to strategy my way through the final boss, and let me tell you it was a long and drawn out battle (I even had to turn of the attack animations which I rarely do for any story related battle whether it's post game or not), with lots of protects and heals and meteor impacts.

And now I'm off to find that topic about games you've just beaten, to post some of my end game stats.
