Non Brony Kid Fans - Here and Then

So this interesting thought came up to me recently. When we talk about this show, we often talk about it as bronies and mature adult or teenage fans.

Of course its inescapable, through Hasbro's marketing, media and societal perception, and otherwise, that the show was originally meant for "little girls" and by extension there parents and perhaps young boys too. This was definitely true for older generations. Honestly, we bronies and admirers of the show otherwise, are just the periphery audience and demographic. Sure we may get our own large conventions, shout outs and fan and nonfan made products like T-Shirts, toy figures and the comics, but the focus is always the main target audience the little kids and their parents.

So my question is, did anyone here grow up watching any of the MLP series as kids or as parents or relatives who took care of such kids? Better yet anyone grew up watching MLP:FiM? I know its asking a bit much from the teens who did, since many would not be able to post here and most would be no older than 18-19 since watching the show.

What was the show like to you and how did you view it? Was it enjoyable, inspiring or just another phase of your life you grew out of?

My little sisters love the show, I watch it with them all the time, but I do not consider them to be bronies, because they are of the target audience.

Well as a matter of fact, I did watch the early generations of My Little Pony since I did watch a lot of cartoons in my childhood. So, the G3 of the show was pretty colorful to me and I viewed it as a pretty bad early stage of a show not really judging it as much.

Well, I grew up watching My Little Pony generations 1-3; it was mainly due to watching with my little sister, but I still grew up watching it. It actually wasn't that bad, so I guess you can say I enjoyed it. Generation 1 was pretty good, along with Generation 3. I can't really say I grew up watching Friendship is Magic though, as I was 14 when I started watching it, and I'm still 14.
