visual art World tree in knotwork

Recommended Posts

This is a picture I drew for my parents Christmas present 2 years ago.

It's an image of Yggdrasil, the world tree from ancient Norse mythology. It represents the eternal energy of life throughout the universe, branching out to all reaches of time and space. It is also akin to the tree of knowledge, due to Odin's experiences with the tree in the mythology.

This particular piece took me about 3 weeks to complete. It's done in pen and ink on 11X17 bond paper.

That is amazing. I like how you cross Norse lore with Celtic imagery. It looks like something that would be found preserved in a centuries old tome, it has that feel of authenticity. Simple yet intricate, it obviously took time and dedication. The words are lost to me, it is simply an excellent piece. Well done.

That means a lot to me. Thank you biggrin.png

It was actually inspired by the Book of Kells, so it's funny you should compare it to an image from an old tome. happy.png

Although the book of kells puts my work to shame in the amount of detail it contains in it's images.
