Many years have passed from the time when the last of the Elements of Harmony have died out, Princess Twilight committing suicide after all of her friends had passed. Now under the threat of a takeover by the alicorn known as Lilith, the Elements of Harmony have been reforged into all new elements, ones that need new bearers to stop this threat. You have been called to the palace to receive these new elements, for Celestia has been watching your movements from her planar realm. You are the new heroes of Equestria.

A letter arrives for you. This, in itself, seems unsurprising. But the insignia makes the letter special. It is from your Princess of the Sun, Celestia.

 

Dear (insert OC name here),

 

I have summoned you to Canterlot under urgent business. Meet me in the highest tower in exactly three days time. We have much to discuss.

Minath awoke in her house in Canterlot, the place she only ever stayed when Rambler was in town. She had to go in to work today, but for some reason Celestia had a meeting planned that Minath was to personally guard, with Rambler there also. The two set out for the tallest tower of the palace.

 

When they reached the top, Celestia was yet to arrive. But other ponies seemed to be coming into the tower. Four ponies, it seemed.

Rambler stayed close by Minath's side as they waited for the princess to arrive. He didn't know what this was all about, but he couldn't help being nervous. It wasn't technically his first time meeting her, but he knew his place, and the idea of royalty wanting to meet with him made him more uncomfortable than anything else. But if he was needed for something important, then he would do his duty as best he could.

 

"Do you have any idea what this meeting is supposed to be about, Minath?"

Shyla had never been to Canterlot before, much less up the tower of the royal princess. Hallows and she preferred to stay to their small town home and rarely traveled unless on business for the former, and even then Shyla usually stood there silently or remained in the inn room that they would rent.

 

She slowly made her way up the stairs, considering. Had Celestia discovered her? It was only a matter of time; golems were pretty much gone these days as few practiced the dark magics required to create one. If the princess did know, her imminent destruction awaited her at the top of the stairs.

 

Though she didn't want to die, some dogged thing made her continue. This was both the gift and the curse of the freed golem; a mind of their own but a body that was used to obeying, and a royal summons was a close second to the summons of a master. Since she lacked one now, this was the closest thing she had.

 

As she reached the top, Shyla's heart (or lack of one) sank. She heard voices behind the door. However, if there was one thing she hated, it was a task incomplete, and she braced herself. Despite the climb she was not out of breath, and she put on a determined expression as she pushed open the door.

 

Surprised at the sight of a distinctly non-princess alicorn and a white pony with her, Shyla bowed all the same; it was possible there was a new princess. "I assume you are here to deal with me until the other Princess arrives, your Highness," she said tightly. "I await my fate at your merciful hooves."

Minath frowned.

 

"Normally I know exactly what's going to happen in a meeting, but this one... no idea. I know it's not some foreign dignitary or something of the sort because I would be asked to show them around. It must be somepony from Equestria... and you're somehow involved."

Minath coughed uncomfortably.

 

"Ummm, deal with you? Your highness? I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm the Captain of the Canterlot Guard and this is my special somepony, Rambler."

If Shyla could have blushed, she would have been beetroot right then, but thankfully she wasn't physically even able to and she coughed awkwardly.

"If you'll excuse me," she apologized in a slightly giggly tone, trying to compensate. it had sounded as though she were a criminal or something of the sort, and though she didn't want to make her tower companions suspicious a slip-up in front of the captain of the guard was probably a fatal sort of mistake.

"You just looked so...regal!" continued the golem enthusiastically, now lowering her voices pitch, realizing that made it even worse. "I'm new in this section of Equestria, you see, and I've only ever once seen a picture of the princesses..."

She glanced at the alicorn's "special somepony", who didn't seem of incredible importance, and her face smoothed over a bit more as she returned to her calmer self, the danger passed.

Rambler shrugged dismissively. "Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough. No sense in worrying about it until then."

Rambler chuckled a little bit. "I suppose you're another one of the ponies invited to this mystery meeting? And for the record, yes, I was summoned here, too. I don't normally make a habit of following my marefriend around while she's working."

She knows she's guilty of something. Everything in her posture says so, as if I was reading a freaking book. The changes in voice octaves, the nervous giggling. I'll ask Celestia about it later. It's not in my jurisdiction if one of her guests is a criminal of a sort.

 

"No problem. I go around the palace yelling at ponies and it's a common mistake."

 

Not one that spared me when I was younger, though.

Lila had arrived a bit early. She had time. Enough to take a quick stroll around town, get to know the place. That was until she remembered that she had a meeting to attend and forced herself in the direction of the castle. She did ,however, take time to half-admire the scenery on the way there as she paced herself to the castle, which was a bit further than she had originally thought.

 

She soon found the entrance to the castle, went to the appropriate wing, going through a maze of hallways and corridors before she found herself at a set of stairs. A very large one at that. With a short sigh realizing she'd have to climb up hundreds and hundreds of stairs, Lila began her brisk-pace trot up them. Lila found herself surprised that reaching the top didn't take long and found herself at a set of doors. Behind them she could here a conversation, and not wanting to be rude, she knocked a few time before waiting patiently.

Rambler heard someone knocking at the door, and was about to open it when he paused and turned to Minath. She was the captain of the guard after all, he should probably make sure he wasn't compromising the castle's security or something.

"Of course it is, silly. They had to pass through hundreds of guards I trained myself. They are impeccable at reading even the slightest hints of a threat."

 

I wonder where Celestia is. Normally she's here before everypony else, but maybe she's waiting for everypony to arrive first. Curious.

Rambler shrugged. "Well, I don't know. You can never be too careful, right? I don't want you getting fired because I didn't think to ask if it was okay."

He turned and opened the door, giving the mare on the other side a friendly smile. "So, I take it you're another one of the ponies summoned to... whatever this is?"

Lila returned the smile to the stallion who opened the door. "Yes, I am. I'm not late, right?" she inquired as she trotted into the room. There were only two other mares in the room and no sign of the princess. "Or I'm early." Unsure of what to do Lila decided to just sit in the middle of the room.

Rambler shrugged. "I think you're sort of both, actually. I was under the impression that everyone was supposed to be here by now, but if you got here before the princess I'd say that counts as being early. I don't know, this whole thing is really weird. The name's Rambler, by the way."

Lila smiled at Rambler. She stuck a hoof out for him to shake. "I'm Lila. Just wondering, do any of you know why we were called her in the first place? Not that I wouldn't want to pass the chance to do something useful for the princess, but still, the letter I got was very bland."

Rambler shook her hoof and shrugged again. "Well, I don't know, and even Minath here-" he gestured to Minath with his hoof,"-doesn't seem to know what's going on, and since she's the captain of the guard, one would think that if she doesn't know what the princess is planning, nopony does."

About the same height as me... and a unicorn. Purple and white, unusual. Cutie mark: potion. She's a potions master, then. She holds herself... peculiarly, but not as if hiding something or as to show aggression. No threat detected.

 

Minath smiled at Lila, after doing her routine assessment.

 

"Living with the princess has taught me a few things. The main one is she can be very cagey, so often I actually have no idea what's going on. I'm guessing Luna knows, and possibly a few others."

Icarus arrived at the castle of Canterlot's gates. He had been summoned here by a letter signed by Princess Celestia herself.

 

"This had better be worth the effort" He  thought to himself as he approached the Castle. 

 

Icarus entered the castle, and followed the instructions given to him earlier.

 

After navigating his way to the designated tower, Icarus found himself looking into an expansive room, with three ponies in the center, making conversation. Assuming this was the correct room, he was suppost to stay here so he could converse with the princess. He checked his uniform, making sure it was all together, and walked into the room.

Icarus Idled on down into the center of the room, admiring the architecture of the ancient castle as he approached the group of ponies in the center of the room.

 

"Excuse me," he said to the group  "but I believe this is where I am suppost to be according to my summons, may I inquire what is going on?" He asked the group, tilting his head inquisitively.

Pitch gently exited the train, as he now stood in front of the gates of the towering Canterlot. With a pleasant smile mixed with a sense of urgency, he trotted his way toward his destination, with a saddlebag on his flank.

 

(What could this be? The Princess's letter was rather vague, and I didn't even know she knew me... This thought shot through his head continuously as he reached the tower he was supposed to go. He immediately saw others. He wanted to talk to them, but his social awkwardness demanded otherwise.

 

Fortunately, one of the ponies was already asking. He would hear the answer out there. Hopefully, he'd get one. He gently trotted toward the group, stopping a modest distance from them. He wondered if they were here for the same reason he was.

 

Gently blowing a strand of hair of of his feminine muzzle, the pony simply waited and listened.

Rambler nodded. "If you were summoned here, then this is probably the right place. Unfortunately no-one seems to know what we're actually here for. All I know is that the princess seems to be running late for some reason, or maybe she's waiting for something. Either way, if you want to know what the deal is, I guess you'll just have to wait here like the rest of us."

"Hmm, very well then. In the mean time I shall introduce my self." Icarus said, his voice slightly reverberating inside his mask. He turned so all the ponies in the room could see him. "I am doctor Icarus, expert experimental doctor and Plague Doctor" Icarus said, with excitement in his voice.

Minath was instantly suspicious. Plague doctor? And the way that Icarus carried himself gave her the creeps. It wasn't so much as a threat as... total detachment. Ponies like that make Minath's wings twitch and her skin crawl.

 

"So... Icarus. What does a 'plague doctor' do?"

Lila simply nodded in response to the Minath before turning to the new stallion. He seemed interesting, not that she really cared who he was... well... that was only half true. Lila didn't really listen to what the stallion said, something about experimental doctors or scientist. Instead she slipped her saddlebags off her back and pulled out a medium sized book. Her spell book to be precise, which also contained her recipes for potions, most of which she has memorized. Flipping to the page marked with a book mark she settled herself down and began to read where she had last left off.

"Well, exactly that, we help those infected with highly lethal and infectious diseases or "Plagues". Such as the one that struck Stalliongrad many years ago..." Icarus' voice tapered off with a somewhat saddening tone. 

"And as for the Experimental part, as you can see, I am not a unicorn, thus I have no natural healing abilities, forcing me to create various substances that can be applied to accelerate healing process." he explained.

Minath nodded. So he helped people.

 

"I see. So you helped with the Stalliongrad plague? Even if I was alive when that happened, I wouldn't have been much help. You could be basically called an alchemist, correct?"

 

Minath had always had an interest in alchemy, even though she had no talent for it whatsoever.

"Trust me, any help during that plague would have been good"

Icarus then pondered the question put befor him

"And yes I guess you could call me an alchemist if you wish, though all I really make are medical potions and venoms." Icarus tilted his head slightly, as if thinking.
