Okay, so here are the extreme basics.

 

Whenever you want to say something in the forums, just click on the button that says "Reply" and a text box will appear. Just type your message (50 characters or more) and hit "Add Reply".

 

You can also quote things people say, as I did up there. All you have to do is click on the text of their post and a button that says "Quote" will show up. Just click it and their text will show up automatically! It's very useful for one on one conversation!

 

You should have a PM (Private/Personal Message) from Mailmare. Open it and it'll explain pretty much everything. Don't mind the little bits of HTML code in the message, I'm almost positive that it's a mistake. But anyway, there will be links to the rules, guides, and specific forums in the message that'll explain the place. Now of course, there are some things that I don't know too much about, so please excuse me.

 

I'm assuming you are using a computer? If you ever access the site on a mobile device and you want to edit something on your profile, go to "Full Version" at the very bottom of the screen and you'll be taken to the "computer version".

 

I can't think of much else right now, but I hope this helps you out! Have fun in the herd!

This minimum actually differs depending on what part of the forums you're posting in. (Generally the minimum is 100.) You'll know from the green text in the lower right of your post window whether you're golden or not. Just don't try to add jibberish like "lksalkflkg" to your posts to try and outsmart the limit. (Apparently it's against the rules. The more you know!) If you're grasping for words just add more elaboration to something. (Or be weird and add little things like this... maybe I do that too often.)

 

But with that it seems like everyone else has pretty much gotcha covered as far as rules and the basics. EXCEPT! I noticed no one has offered you brotherly service? Well, well, well! Hello there, fellow Fluttershy fan. It seems You have same problem as I had when I joined this forum. It's quite big, isn't it? Well, I'd recommend checking every section and finding threads that might interest You. If You're looking for some random fun check out forum games sections (lol, most of my post are from there xD). I really have no idea what exactly should I explain. Maybe You can specify what exactly needs to be explained?

One thing I must say; learn and follow all the rules, as they are enforced pretty strictly. I was punished (slightly) for intentionally spamming a post I needed deleted. I double posted in the RP section (a place I must recommend) and wanted it removed but I didn't make that clear so the mods called me out on it. I only received a warning but my friend was banned for a week because the mods had a problem with a story he wrote. They decided it was too dark (A reason to rethink a few of my OCs...) so he was banned for a week with no warning, no chance to remove it, and he made sure to label it appropriately and everything.

 

The moral of my buzzkill is have fun, but make sure your following the rules too.
