Slice0Pie 815 December 5, 2013 Share December 5, 2013 (edited) I was drawing this and gave up on it Lets face it: I got the colors and cutie mark wrong And everything about the pony is wrong, horribly wrong. the head is the legs stomach ears everything seems wrong. I studied the shapes from the ponies from the shows, drew on paper and practiced, but didn't seem to work out.. Aerodynas 439 December 5, 2013 Share December 5, 2013 (edited) @, Have you ever tried drawing with a reference? It always helps me and it's actually good...compared to mine at least. You should be proud that you're on the right track Edited December 5, 2013 by Aerodynas 2 "You have to establish the horizon. You have to mark the white. A simple enough act, you might say, but any act that re-makes the world is heroic. Or so I've come to believe."
Courageous Thunder Dash 7,824 December 5, 2013 Share December 5, 2013 As Aerodynas stated, a reference pic is a really good resource for honing your drawing. Great effort on the pic by the way. 2 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeWg-TtBRMfqketa1ELyKGg Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/menelik-david-kenneth-cannady 2nd SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/thunder-dash-alternative/tracks Pony.fm: https://pony.fm/thunder-dash
galaxysquid 2,122 December 5, 2013 Share December 5, 2013 (edited) Hey, stop bashing yourself for all of your drawings! I've seen some of your stuff from earlier on, and I believe that you have improved very well so far! Keep a reference next to your picture while drawing. It'll really help. Or, try tracing some ponies first, to get used to the basic idea of what a pony should be drawn like. After some practice from that, you can try free handing it by memory...But referencing is always good anyway. You'll get better I swear. It took me a long time. I'm still improving little by little every day. Edited December 5, 2013 by PrincessOfWub 2 My OC, Starlight. I studied the shapes from the ponies from the shows, drew on paper and practiced, but didn't seem to work out.. I actually think its a pretty good drawing. If your concerned about the color and your drawing digitally you can just use the tool(Forget what its called, maybe color picker or something?) and just copy it from a reference picture. Or else just try your best to get it looking right. If its not digital then sometimes its just not possible, unless you have tons of colors. Overall though its actually a pretty good drawing, there are some bumpy lines around it, the head is also kind of squished looking. But actually the rest of it really isn't that bad! Don't give up on yourself so easy! Believe in yourself! I know you can do it! Just keep practicing! 1 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Aniki 386 December 5, 2013 Share December 5, 2013 (edited) It's honestly not too bad considering but I'd recommend using a reference. Though even before that I'd recommend practicing more with paper and pencil. It's tough just to jump right into digital art until you get the basics of the "analog" down. I'm no pro myself but I drew for quite a long time on paper before I ever dared to try digital. (And even then the first results weren't exactly spectacular) With practice, practice and more practice you'll be right up there with the best of em mate. I believe in you.
