Flash Sentry and Sunset sitting in a tree

I watched the Movie for the third time today. and It just hit me. Why din't the fact That Flash and Sunset used to date effect the story one way or another.

In this thread we come up with ideas of how it should been important instead of Being a throw away line.

Examples:

1) have Sunset make fun of Twilight having a crush on him and call him names to anger her.

2) Have it that Flash is ignored by the whole school because Sunset turned them all againts him when they broke up.

 

Well that was all I could come up with. Lets see what you could come up with.

The best i could come up with is that sun set was still dating flash and she set up the false break up knowing twilight would fallow her?

 

and she groomed flash to be everything twilight would ever want in a guy.

i mean that would make him the ultimate tool,

 

but at least he'd be embracing that role.

~Flash Sentry being tempted by Sunset. Or having difficulty choosing between them, and Twilight has to actually earn him.

~Flash Sentry turns out to actually still be with Sunset, and he was just meanly teasing Twilight (or using, or spying on her). Heartbreak commences and Twilight decides that who needs teen boyfriends when you're a magical pony princess from an alternate universe that you've been tasked with saving instead of swooning over said teen males.

 

Yep. I think i actually would've liked Flash Sentry if he was a antagonist that is on the fence between good and bad. That would've been far more interesting than what we got.
