Nightmare Night 151 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 This a wireless controller that was returned at walmart. We put these tags on merchandise that is returned stating the reason why. I don't know who to feel worse for, the person who returned it or the associate who put this tag on it and sent it to the claims department.

Frith is Magick 1,471 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 I know someone who used to work at Walmart (in claims, interestingly enough), and some of the stories are hilarious. Walmart customers are certainly not the cream of the crop. 1 Keep flyin'

Treble Bolt 1,122 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 Well, a lot of people buy something, expecting it to work EXACTLY how they want it to, without looking at instructions or having really any in depth knowledge about said thing. That's what we get in this throw-away society of ours 2 "In fire iron is born, by fire it is tamed"

I admit freely that I don't know everything. I do not know the in-depth, technical details about how wireless controllers work, and on many occasions I do not read instructions in their entirety, yet something like this has never happened to me. This did not occur because of a lack of information, this happened because of pure idiocy. Any three year old can tell that the the words "Xbox 360" and "PS3" are not the same. I don't mean to nit-pick like that. I am coming from this as a tech support person. I get a lot of people buying new computers and such, can't figure out how they work, and bring them back saying they are broken when in actuality they have idea what they are doing. And that's just computers, don't get me started on household appliances (facepalm). The most often thing I hear is, "where is the ON button?" >insert massive sigh< 1 "In fire iron is born, by fire it is tamed"

Bad part is, many older people cannot. Its really sad, but its true. Many older people, that know little or nothing of modern technology and mostly out of ignorance, would not know the difference between the two. To them a console is a console. At best they may have known it had a "3" in the title and was black, so they assumed this was the right controller. I have seen this happen a multitude of times with game returns alone, and hardware is no different. The PC front often suffers a lot from it as well due to the severe incompatibility between Mac and PC. Or just people thinking they can upgrade one part, but in fact are so out of date (or have a pre-built system that is designed to be non-upgradable) they just can't take the part/program. Frith is Magick 1,471 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 (edited) He who knows naught and knows that knows naught knows more than he who knows naught and knows not that he knows naught. People want to save face by blaming the problems on the devices, not the users, but they make themselves look like bigger idiots. I know and admit freely that I am an idiot, which allows me to get help. I would rather sound like a bit of a fool than look like a huge one. This is getting off topic, but my point is that it requires either illiteracy or pure idiocy to not be able to tell the word "Xbox 360" from "PS3". They can at least try to count the characters or ask someone if it is compatible. Edited December 6, 2013 by Frith is Magik Keep flyin'
GrimCW 658 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 (edited) They can at least try to count the characters or ask someone if it is compatible. Gotta say it.. This only works if you know the whole thing, some (as I said above) don't. It also only works when the store person isn't just a sales person who knows less than you. Best Buy prides itself in its geek squad, yet I can run circles around them when it comes to computer tech. And I'll be the first to say I'm an idiot when it comes down to computers. But even I know a good system when I see it at a good price, vs a rip off at a higher price. (I.E. They "lemoned" my Asus laptop I had gotten for $800, then told me I could pick a new model off the floor and only need pay the difference... that $800 Asus whomped every laptop out there except one... Sort of... That one.. $1200, with less memory but a bigger screen... Why should I pay more for less than I had?! Their managers jaw nearly hit the floor when I told her the specs (forget them now) on my $800. Yet they still tried to pawn off the over prices HP/Dell models with far less. Took me 40 minutes to explain why the system was so good, not one of their reps understood what specs are, or how that affected using the laptop. They all seemed to think music, internet, and a big screen, were all that mattered.) I've even been there listening them try to convince someone that the extra $200 is worth less memory, no vid card aside from integrated, but all for a slightly bigger HDD, vs one with a slightly smaller HDD and all the rest of the bells and whistles... Frith is Magick 1,471 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 Gotta say it.. This only works if you know the whole thing You're right, it may have been purchased by someone who was unfamiliar with the technology. My assumption, based on the wording of the tag, was that the owner of the console purchased the controller, legitimately expecting it to work. Because we do not know the full story, it is entirely possible that the wording of the tag does not match the actual scenario. 1 Keep flyin'
FoxyCryptid 4,330 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 (edited) Oh dear God, that's almost as bad as someone I new that picked up a rifle controller for a Wii(the one that with Cabela's Big Game Hunter) and said it was something that came with Halo 3. I'd excuse him for age, but I think he's only in his 30s. That's what we get in this throw-away society of ours In most cases I agree but this didn't really need any knowledge past looking at the giant label reading 'Made by Xbox'.
