Why, you may ask? Because his movies are bloody fantastic, that's why!

 

I've always been a Don Bluth fan and even his less than stellar movies (pebble and the Penguin) are still pretty good visually. What are your favorite Don Bluth films?

All Dogs go to Heaven.

 

Probably the darkest Don Bluth movie ever made (although American Tale comes very close). It has drinking, gambling, smoking, murder, heaven, hell, satan...but it is still a fantastic movie for kids as the moral of the story about giving up things for the one you love on top of changing your heart from selfish to selfless is very strong.

 

 

An American Tale

 

Some beautiful animation in this one with a fantastic ending that scared the hell out of me as a kid. Amazing use of Squash and Stretch animation as well when the mice are walking behind test tubes and the music. OMG the music was great!

 

 

Titan A.E.

 

One of the few animated movies of its time that was able to blend CGI with traditional animation. It was one of the more grown-up Don Bluth movies and it was very intense. Even showed a few on-screen deaths! And it has one kick ass soundtrack to boot!

I actually would say Land Before Time. yes, it's cheesy, yes there are a lot of things that don't make sense, yes, it looked more like a Disney movie.

 

But hey, it was incredibly enjoyable, and so were the so many bad sequels that followed.
