Sun, moon, replace a unicorn

Maybe there was an event in which the sun and the moon were taken in by something much bigger. Think like how the Everfree Forest operates on its own.

 

There could always be another explanantion of course..

 

Twilght was actually an alicorn the whole time but lost her abilities when their spaceship crashed in Equestria, so they disguised it as the tree of harmony (that why it as their cutie marks) and Celestia hid her wings until she regained enough ability to be seen among them so not to ruin the super-power rep of the alicorn race?

Unicorns for the most part are lazy because the have the advantage of magic but even that can cause strain. When you all of the sudden have ponies that can raise the sun and moon for you there's no need for you to step in and help since they've got that covered. I'm sure that there is some faction of unicorns that believe they should resort back to such ways but they're equal to the amount of people in the state of Texas who want to secede.

The analyst Dr. Wolf has a theory that Clover the Clever was actually a disguised Princess Twilight. She coved her wings with the outfit she wore. A fun theory if nothing else.

Y'know in that Land before Time sequel, where the sauropods thought they were saving the earth by holding the moon with their necks, and it turns out it's just an eclipse? Like that, ponies do not move the sun, they just think they do. Celestia is so powerful she can control the planet's orbit, she just tells the ponies the can move the sun to keep them superstitious.

 

(Also, we all know Hearth's Warming as shown in the show is downplayed and bowdlerized for the kiddies.)

It would actually take millions of years with each generation of constant training to reach that certainb levels.
