Did we truly take the show's lessons to heart?

Well I know I have.

I can't count the number of times I actually took a step back and actually asked myself, "what would the Mane Six do?"

Whether it was learning to appreciate my brothers from the example set by Rarity and Sweetie Belle, or trying NOT to be Gilda and ostracize a possible new friend because he's dating my ex.

It's part of the reason I love this show and fandom so much. I've become a better person from this wonderful experience!

OP, I'm sorry about your personal experience, but I can assure you that many in fact HAVE taken the lessons to heart.  :)

I feel like it's only natural that as the fandom got larger, bronies started to be more hypocritical, ignorant of the lessons, etc. As more people joined the fandom, more TYPES of people were introduced: some having the morals of the show fly over their heads, some choosing to ignore it because it was stupid, etc.

I can't speak from experience, but I honestly believe that the fandom was truer to the show's morals when it was smaller/new. I believe there's many people that do still take the lessons to heart, but they're outnumbered by the vast majority of others who well... don't.

Personally, I haven't been taking the lessons to heart too well. I'm pretty prone to anger, but I have been working on it and I can say I've gotten better. I've done some thinking about how I act and it's pretty awful sometimes, and I really do want to learn from this show. Everybody could use a reminder on how to be a good person in general, which is why I love the lessons.
