"Such as myself"… hai, Star-chan's guess was right. Star Rain told her and North Shine to expect ponies out for nothing fame and fortune, but they suspected that it was just her cynicism speaking. I should play my cards carefully. "The letter was sent out by chain mail, so any pony could've come. If you want to get to know my other companion, North-chan is over there," she said, pointing to her friend who was chatting up the lone stallion. "Just a warning, she's a little feisty and she can cut. Just saying, Dorado-san," she said with a wink and a grin.

 

I'd hate to get North-chan involved with him, but I've got to deal with every pony else. She may be a little lacking in social skills, but she has street-smarts.

At that moment, Kanon heard the arrogant voice of the stallion who had entered and felt the watchful eye of the mare who came with him. What a duo. I'd better get them settled down before North-chan decides to try anything. She trotted over to them and gave the mare a nervous smile. "You may be looking for me and the light blue pegasus. I'm Kanon and she is North Shine. Star-chan is running a little late for the meeting," she said. Her accent-riddled tone was usually prim and proper and wasn't much different now, but there was a drop of poison in her voice.

He bowed and set his coat on the table. “I am Lord Noble Persona and this is Ice, my guard. We received your letter about an expedition, and we came to hear your proposal. Make your case, and I will look into providing funding for this adventure.”

Upon being introduced Ice just nods at Kanon and shuffles her tail away from the doorway so nopony steps on it. "Hello Miss Kanon. I believe that i'm already familiar with your friend... She decided that it was a good idea to fly by our carriage at night in a rather hasty manner, it would be most appreciated if she wouldn't make a habit of it."

"What would a lord such as yourself be doing here?" Kanon wondered out loud. "And it is a generous offer, but we never asked for funding of any kind." And I was the one who provided it. It was best, North Shine said, to keep her wealth a secret. According to her, she met many ponies who showed their wealth to the public in all its glory. It never ended well for them, she said.

“As I said, I received the letter and I came to hear your proposition. You need not ask for funding, Kanon-sama. If you are planning an expedition, I shall provide a generous sum of bits to get it started.” He says with an innocent smile, though his eyes showed he was anything but.

 

He turned to Ice for a moment. "Shall we order something while waiting for Miss Star Rain?"

Ice eyes Noble for a moment before her attention flickers to Dorado's crossbows, North's wingblades, and Kanon's naginata before answering. "No thank you Sir, i'll eat later."  *'Preferably around less armed ponies.'*  "Though i suppose i could go for some tea if you insist on pleasantries."

Kanon noticed the look in his eyes and struggled to remain calm and composed. "Hai, arigato gozaimasu," she said without correcting herself. "Please acquaint yourself with the other volunteers, as well as North Shine," she said warmly and flatly. She decided to sit herself down next to Myopia.

While waiting for an answer, North's eyes had been flickering over to Kanon and the volunteers. She began to take Star's warning to heart and made a mental note on who to trust and who to keep an eye on. Just like Kanon, she felt the watchful gaze of the mare who had arrived with the one who claimed to be a lord. Her shivering was visible to all.

Monkshood tried to take little notice of the other ponies entering. Granted, some of the more boisterous ones arriving made him roll his eyes and sigh with a look of exasperation upon his face. Instead, his attention was focused on the mare in front of him. Gazing at her with a look of indifference for a few moments before speaking. "I'm sure they will spot me eventually, after all you found me here. Besides, I'm really not the type for socializing in larger groups. Though if you would like to sit and talk, I'm sure the company would be enjoyable". Looking towards the mare he awaited her response.

Ice noticed North and Kanon's unease and looked faintly amused.  *'Its like i just murdered somepony in cold blood... Oh well i can work with fear and suspicion, and it has the added benefit of keeping their attention off of my employer..... Still though i'm just eyeing their weapons, they would do the same in my position.'*

Dorado returned the grin to Kanon as she got up to go speak with the two new arrivals. It was at that moment Dorado examined the two of them. When he heard the Noble one say he wanted to donate some money, Dorado couldn't help but perk up his ears. He then began to think that he could probably get some extra money out of this expedition, now that he knows somepony here has some. 

 

 

Eternity

 

'Ponyville' The orange coated unicorn thought. 'What has it been now? 8 Years? And you still look the same.' 

 

Eternity. He was unicorn scholar and mage from Canterlot. He had been studying magic all his life. Though much of it has been self taught ever since he lost his brother. He hasn't really left Canterlot since then. Only a few times on a few occasions. And this was one of them. He always loved magic and was always great at at it too. But he isn't the kind to show off. In fact he's the complete opposite. For much of his life he just kept to himself and his books. Rarely seeing many different ponies and just staying in his home up in Canterlot. But like I said, he loved magic more than anything. So when he got the invitation, it intrigued him so. He became very curious about a so-called 'wishing scroll' but what was more interesting was a city of ponies just going away. He also realized though that if the scroll were true, he could wish for his brother to be back again. It was then he realized he had to go on the expedition, even if he hated it the very idea of it.

 

He had just gotten off the train from Canterlot. Saddle bags full of different books and supplies and on his back was a magical staff. He was to look for a coffee shop so he began to trot quickly around two to look for it. He already knew he was pretty late so he tried to rush himself to find it which didn't really help. He was relieved once he did find it. 'Oh please let there not be many ponies...' When he opened the door, he froze at the sight of all the ponies there for the expedition. 'Of course there is are ton of them here... Just my luck'

"Uhhh.... Uhhh..." He couldn't speak on the count of all the eyes currently looking at him. "Uhhh Hello. I'm Uhhh Eternity. I'm here for the uhhh expedition? I-I do have the right place right? 'Cause there are many coffee places here..." He looked at all of them. Some with weapons, some looked powerful. He was even more nervous now. "Considering you all have a large amount of supplies among other things... I-I think I'm just gonna go sit down now..." He proceed to move on over away from most of the ponies and sat by the pony was Nomadic.

The offer of a strawberry flavored sweet was politely turned down with a shake of the head and a raised hoof to gently turn the sweet down. "Thank you for the offer good sir, but maybe later." Myopia offered with the same respectful tone as always. If one was to look closer at the horseshoe on his hoof, while it was a respectable, fashionable black one might notice the fact that there appeared to be several sharp points discreetly and strategically placed around the metal item.

The arrival of the Spanish stallion ( The weird stallion from Thunder's point of view, who had never encountered a Spanish pony before) caused both the green clad business unicorn and the currently bare weather pegasus to facehoof. For much the same reason, they both just knew that all this meant was the new arrival was just going to make this whole venture as fun as hammering your head against a wall.

As Kanon came and sat next to him, Myopia offered her a small, encouraging smile. "Happy you're playing hostess to such a diverse number of ponies?" He asked with the minimum of teasing. Nothing like holding a meeting with so many different kinds of ponies to make you reconsider what it was you were trying to do.

Having recovered from introducing his hoof to his face, Thunder offered the coffee mare a small shrug. "From the sounds of how things are coming along, me and you are going to be the weird ones here tonight on account of neither of us being insane. " He offered the mare a warm little smile as he asked "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name?"

Kinetic shrugged when Myopia turned down the offer. But Noble Persona’s name was familiar. Kanon’s reaction confirmed his suspicions. They’d met before, but Kinetic couldn’t remember where. “I take it you’ve noticed Lord Persona’s villainous stare? No need to worry, Miss Kanon. He unsettles everypony on first meeting. Strawberry sweet?” He asked, offering the bag to Kanon.

Noble smirked. Satisfied that they wouldn’t call him out at night (or possibly ever again), he stood next to Ice and scanned the room again. “Anything we should watch out for?” He asked, out of curiosity rather than worry.

Seeing how Kanon was busy with the others, North Shine nodded and sat across from Monkshood. She then proceeded to ask,"So I'm just curious. How come you're here? Do you have a wish or something?" She kept on an energetic smile as she started the conversation.

Kanon gave a light laugh as her response to Myopia's question. "Oh I'm used to it. I've done it many times and it helps that I specialize in diplomacy most of the time," she said, failing to stop herself from bragging a little. She then turned toward Kinetic and accepted the sweet with an,"Arigato!" and a bow.

 

She didn't notice the last stallion who had walked in.

 

To Thunder, the coffee mare simply said,"Chocolate Wish" while covering up what appeared to be a star tattoo on her collarbone.

As the one with the sharp eye however, North Shine waved to him and offered him a seat. "Hello there! I'm North Shine, one of the leaders on this mission! You're here for the mission, right?" she asked, pulling a chair over for him.

A unicorn mare stepped into the shop very quietly, though not on purpose. It was just part of her nature to be invisible. She wore a blue cloak that shadowed her face and she carried saddlebags of her own supplies, books, art supplies, sketchpad, and maps. There was also what appeared to be a staff on her back, except the end was strangely indigo and metallic. 

 

She spotted North Shine conversing with two other stallions, one of which also had a staff(which she could see was a magical one unlike her own). She had to make sure they were with them, so she walked up to them and said in a rather aloof tone(which is quite a change from the warm greetings given by Kanon and North),"North Shine, are these two with us?"

Not even responding to Noble, Ice continues to monitor the ponies in the room. Delectably at least, as a very faint grey glow sticks close to her horn and she casts an illusion spell on Noble that causes a sound only Noble can hear. (Originally meant to terrify ponies but it works ok for communication too.) (I don't know if anypony would notice it as its the same color as her and not using much magic.) "The merk perked up at the mention of money so hes liable to try and get your bits out of you in some form. Kanon is armed and looks like a very diplomatic sort... Be careful of her, that's the type of leader that can pull everypony else's strings. North Shine has a nice pair of wingblades and can move at fast speeds so watch your step with her. The new mare that just walked in looks paranoid... That's never a good sign. The businesspony has strikers embedded in his hooves and while he probably still wont be much in a fight their still sharp. And i haven't noticed any irregularities on the others yet... i'll have to look at my notebook later to give you a complete summary. Anything else Sir?"

He shook his head, but he assumed the latest arrival was the one they had been waiting for. Now that Ice had warned him about the merc, he made a mental note to keep a hold of his bits. Regardless, he'd had his fun scaring everypony and dropped the pretense, adopting a calmer, less intimidating presence.

 

"I'll get us some tea. Do you want anything else, Ice?" He asked, sounding like one friend to another, rather than an employer addresing an underling.

Offering the now named Chocolate Wish a slightly warmer smile then before, he rather kindly said "It's nice to meet you Chocolate Wish, I'm Thunder King. I would ask if you wanted to go grab a cup of coffee or something after this but considering where you work that would be really hit or miss since you either really love coffee or you hate it with a passion only those who work in jobs that require dealing with the public can understand. So how about we get dinner sometime instead?" While he didn't consider himself a womanizer by any means, Thunder couldn't help but ask if the pretty mare wanted to go out sometime. After all, the worse she could say was no.

Nodding his head at the statement, Myopia took a moment to rest his hat on the table in front of him carefully. "Fair enough Lady Kanon. Out of curiosity, how many  ponies will be coming to this meeting?" He asked, his tone somewhat professional.

Monkshood raised his brow at the question. Why was he here? Truthfully, he had been asking himself if he was even going to come since the arrival of the note. His business had been rather slow, but he had survived off of times when it was down to nothing more than a trickle. He thought further. Was the idea of having a single wish granted really that compelling to him, or was it just his rabid sense of inquiry that had plagued him for most of his life. Either way, it probably really didn't matter to the mare sitting across from him. "Honestly, I'm unsure myself. I would assume that it's more my own curiosity than anything else, but the possibility of some form of wealth would allow me to continue my own studies", he told the mare his voice rang of some fleeting form of fondness just as he seemingly abruptly stopped talking.

Another pony approached him as he finished talking with the mare. This one seemed to be equipped more for a research trip, not entirely dissimilar to himself, instead of an actual journey. Intriguing, such invitations, from his limited experience with them, often attracted nothing more than sellswords and cut-throats. Maybe he wouldn't be forced to talk to simple-minded ponies who could care less about the intricacies and nuances of his craft. Giving this newcomer a slight smile, hopefully signifying that he was more than welcome at this table. 

 

Like clockwork another approached the table. These interactions often seemed to be the bane of Monkshood's existence, despite the necessity of them. He glanced up at her she seemed to more care about questioning the mare, North Shine. He would let her answer the questions for him. He preferred nothing more then to observe the conversation unfold.

"Don't worry, I've had my fun. As for seating, I'll be happy anywhere as long as you're beside me. Oh and one favour, make sure that merc doesn't take my coat. I don't want to order another one after getting the last one shredded." Noble said in a perfectly casual tone, making his way to the counter. 

 

"Excuse me, Miss? Could I get two teas and some chocolate chip cookies, per favore?" He asked the mare at the counter. 'Please don't ask if I'm foreign...' He thought.

 

 

Kinetic Energy

"Who knows. Mr Myopia, was it? What is it you do for a living, sir?" Kinetic asked, setting his bag of sweets on the table. He levitated a small cigarette lighter out of his pocket and absent-mindedly fiddled with it, accidentally breaking the hinge with a soft 'snap'. "Whoops... Broke my lighter."

Ice takes one look at the table and instantly decides that she doesn't want to sit there. So she looks at the others and picks a table close enough to be part of the group but far enough that she has line of sight on every other pony, and levitates two chairs onto the far side of it before sitting down and continuing to keep an eye on Noble and the others.

Sonnet loitered for a moment - slipping quietly into a free seat as she remained quiet and listened: eyes wide in aparant awe at the ponies around her.

 

You could learn a lot by listening to other ponies: sometimes they let slip big things but usually, the really important details were the small ones... little quirks and slips of the tongue and such. Being aware of what was going on and keeping an ear on the idle chit-chat and formal pleasantries: that was when you picked up things that could be used...

 

'Vengeful Celestia, how long am I going to have to keep this up? This isn't even worth it for the game... It's...'

 

'It's thrilling sweetie! Something quite different from the usual monotony... loosen up and try to enjoy yourself!'

 

She smiled somewhat vacantly and nodded slightly is if agreeing with somepony or another. It wasn't easy: some of these seemed even more stuck up than the usual moronic breed of nobility.

 

And so rather than speak, she simply sat on the border of the group - quiet and well mannered. And she listened.

Eternity glanced over at the Stallion beside him. He tried to return the smile but only gave a sheepish one and then looked away. Soon the two mares spoke and asked if he was in the expedition. 

 

"Yes... I am coming along too. And nice to meet you North Shine. My name is Eternity. Though you probably already knew that..." He said to her after the other Mare approached the table and muttering the last sentence.  He then took more noticed of the knew arrived Mare who approached our table. She was a unicorn with a cloak and books in her bags. Along with a strange item that almost seemed like a unique staff. She also seemed to be magically inclined, Eternity can sense it. He wondered if she was a mage too. At least there could be a pony like him that was there. "You wouldn't uhh... happen to-"

 

@EVERYPONY

 

"¡Muy bien! Dorado cut off Eternity with his outburst. He flew up into the air to address everypony. He didn't feel like waiting much longer. "Everypony is here now sí? If not, too bad I say we have enough ponies. If we are going to..." Dorado sighed. "work together... we are going to need to introduce ourselves. I'll start. I am EL DORADO! I am a chivalrous knight, pony for hire, adventurer, treasure hunter and Master of La Ballesta." He said taking the crossbow off his back, unfolded it, pulled back the string, and took aim at Kanon. He pressed the trigger only to fire nothing at her. "Now who wants to introduce themselves next?"

"Control yourself, sir!" Kinetic shouted at Dorado. He was not particularly happy about this so-called 'chivalrous knight' acting in such a manner. "What kind of knight goes around pointing weapons at their hostess? And besides, it is our hostess' place to say when we are ready. Have some patience, why don't you?"

 

 

Noble Persona

 

Noble regarded the situation with his usual look of bored disinterest, silently judging the other ponies. Ice often teased him about playing the critic, and she was right. Noble was a serious and critically-minded pony, even during his not-so-serious moments. All he could say for sure was that Dorado was impatient and possibly reckless. 'Enough ponies? Isn't this just a meeting to discuss the endeavour?'

Ice looked at Dorado’s… Display, with distaste.  *’This is exactly the kind of pony that makes me embarrassed to be from Esponia. Un codicioso, engreído, presumido, mocoso de un comerciante. He even shot at his potential employer… I’d better get paid extra if I’m expected to work with that imbécil.’*  She then decided to add her own opinion to Kinetic’s words. (In her usual monotone voice.) “I think that you forgot ‘humble’ Señor Dorado…”

North Shine seemed overjoyed at the mare's arrival, and startled at the same time. "Star Rain! When did you get here?!" she exclaimed. Star only gave a small smile and a light laugh at her friend's excitement, as if amused by it(It's always amusing whenever she surprises ponies just by being "invisible" so to speak). She then heard the unicorn stallion try to say something to her, but it was quickly drowned out by the boisterous Dorado. "North, I am very sorry I left you and Kanon alone here," she said in an exasperated voice. He has good looks, I'll give him that. The two mares then gasped when they saw the weapon being pointed at Kanon.

 

Star tried to say something, but North was faster and so was Kanon. In a flash, North's wing blades and the unsheathed blade of Kanon's naginata were at Dorado's throat and barely touching. "How true karma is," Kanon commented dryly, mostly to herself.

 

(OOC: I'm only communicating with Dorado, but I imagine that all of you would see the two leaders pointing blades at him.)
