when analyzing is too much

Speaking as something of a Brony Analyst myself (I'm more a character analyst rather than an episode analyst though) I think that there's plenty of value to be offered in analysis. In doing analysis you provide clarity to your own thoughts- it allows you to better understand why you feel the way you feel, and maybe you even discover insights that you didn't realize at first.

It also allows you to create a dialog with others, exchange each other's opinions and get some perspective yourself. For instance, I never really liked Rainbow Dash, I kinda thought she was just a jerk. But through reading why her fans like her, sometimes in great detail, I really got a better appreciation for the character. I still don't like her that much, but I think I have a better insight on her and respect her more as a result.

I kind of analyze the show from both aspects, but I agree that analysis is generally a good thing. Every bit of media can be criticized from literature to shows to movies, etc. I think it's important to be in tune with why you feel the way you do about a form of media.

For an example within the show: I really like "Magical Mystery Cure", "Three's a Crowd", and "Flight to the Finish" despite the awful pacing of the episodes, but why? The answer is simple to me, wonky pacing has little to no effect on my opinion of the media at hand as long as I'm entertained. I admit the fault is there, but the character dynamics, character insight, humor, and/or emotional portrayals within the episode not only entertained me, but more than made up for the odd pacing in said episodes in my opinion.

Most of the episodes I dislike like "Owls Well That Ends Well", "One Bad Apple", and "Rainbow Falls" bother me because in my opinion they have a lack of emotion and importance put on the characters and plot, along with humor that I personally think fell flat.

If you like any of the episodes I mentioned as disliking, that's fine. I want you to enjoy them I'm not going to tell you otherwise, and vice-versa (though I may debate with you about it, especially in the latter scenario).

"No matter how many times others tell you you're great, all the praise in the world means nothing if you don't feel it inside.......Sometimes to feel good about yourself, you gotta let go of the past. That way, when the time comes to let your greatness fly, you'll be able to light up the whole sky." -Cathy Weseluck as Spike
