"F-f-feed off...e-emotions?" Maya asked as she started to quiver again. She thought that Meadow would feed off her happiness and eventually take it away. She thus curled up into a ball and was near crying point. She was scared, that Meadow may be hiding an evil side of her.

Meadow hugged her tight "Yes darling, but like I said, I am half pegasus, so I don't need to do to that to any pony. Besides, even if I was full changeling, I would still rather starve to death than feed off of another pony's emotions, especially one as cute as you"

Maya blushed a tiny little bit. She then stared at her cutie mark. "I wonder what else I can do..." She thought to herself. She then looked at the house she created from just sticks, logs and leaves. She then looked at Meadow's wings. "Maybe...my ability can enable me...to fly just like you mommy." Maya suddenly stated.

Meadowlark smiles, "well maybe darling, but if we're going to try something like that, I want you to try it from a safe height, ok love? I wouldn't want you to get hurt or anything," She snuggles Maya, "I only know a bit of basic first aid, and I'm not sure I can afford to take you the hospital"

Maya still wanted to fly like Meadow. She then had an idea. "If I coud make wings with my ability, then I'll be able to fly...just like mommy!" She thought to herself. She then focused her energy. A green aura was surrounding her. Somehow, leaflike wings appeared. "Mommy! Look! I have wings just like you!" She said jumping for joy.

Meadowlark claps her hooves and laughs in joy, "That is wonderful sweety" she then opens her wings and starts to gently flap them, "Try doing this for a while love, and see if you can lift yourself off the ground" She slowly lifts herself off the ground "like so"

Maya focused and tried to flap her leaflike wings. They started to flap slowly. She increased the speed of her flaps as she attempted to gain lift. She slowly started to rise into the air. "Wh-whoa!" She stated trying to gain some balance. She flailed her little limbs so she could stay balanced but ended up losing it and landing on the ground with a thud. She shook herself off and got back up. "Wh-what happened?" Maya asked.

Meadowlark hugs her, "you went a little too fast there sweetheart, try again, but try slower" She opens her wings again and shows her, "slowly, like this"  she slowly flaps her wings, "and once you're off the ground, just stay where you are and try to keep your balance, flailing about doesn't really help either love"

"O-okay..." Maya stated as she focused her energy to her new leaflike wings. She slowly flapped them. As she did this, she slowly rose into the air, and stayed perfectly balanced. "Look mommy! I'm doing it! I'm flying!" Maya exclaimed happily as she giggled several times.

Meadowlark smiles at Maya Flower "You're doing wonderfully dear, now just focus going around in a circle at that speed, and when you feel ready, you can speed up just a little." She says with a smile, "She's so precious, I just hope that one day she will trust me enough to tell me what is giving her these nightmares." she thinks to herself

Maya continued to hover in the air. She then started to fly forward slowly. She sort of flailed her limbs to keep herself balanced. "Wh-whoa!" She said almost wobbling out of control. She then made a wide circle as she still stopped flailing her little limbs.

"That's it Maya, sweetheart, keep doing that for a while, then start to flap your wings a little faster" Meadowlark couldn't be prouder of her litltle filly, first she discovered her talent and got her cutie mark, by building the house all by herself and now she is flying.

Maya kept on flapping her wings. She soon started to flap a little faster, and when she tried to turn, she ended up doing a full barrel roll and pulled up. "Wow! Mommy did you see that?!" Maya asked with both surprise and joy in her tone. She was still in the air.

Meadowlark nods and smiles, "I did, that was amazing darling."  She says, "D...darling. m..mummy's feeling s..." she covers her mouth to stifle a yawn, "s..sleepy. Would you mind if mummy had a..." she couldn't finish her sentence, her eyelids forced themselves closed and she collapsed to the ground.

"M-m-mommy?" Maya asked as she came down with a small thud and her wings disappeared like leaves blowing away. She then tried to unfold her wing and wedge herself under it. She too, found herself yawning and soon she fell asleep. The temperature dropped a little bit, and Maya started to shiver a bit. She tried burrowing herself deeper into Meadow's fur. "M-mommy...I-I'm...c-cold..." She stated as she stirred a little to try to keep herself warm.

Meadodlark didn't respond, not even to Maya trying to snuggle underneath her wing. She was in a deep sleep, almost like a coma. Not even Maya's sweet voice could wake her. Inside of her mind, she could feel an ever growing darkness, and then she heard an unfamiliar voice, however the words being spoken were ver familiar to her, "Freak, Half-Breed, Loser" Those were the names she was called as a little filly, then the unfamiliar voice said something that really scared her, "You will never amount to anything, you will never be good enough, and that filly of yours will die!" Meadowlark woke with a start and nearly screamed, "NO! My baby!" she looks around and finds Maya snuggled under wing, she sighs in relief, and whispers to Maya as she gently strokes her mane and fur, "My baby, I love you so much" She kisses her on the head and lays there awake, not wanting to wake Maya up.

Maya stirred a little bit before waking up. "M-mommy? Wh-what happened?" She asked as tears started to well up in her eyes. Although she was in a very deep sleep, she still heard Meadow's scream and thought that something had happened to Meadowlark. She started to quiver.

Maya stirred a little bit before waking up. "M-mommy? Wh-what happened?" She asked as tears started to well up in her eyes. Although she was in a very deep sleep, she still heard Meadow's scream and thought that something had happened to Meadowlark. She started to quiver.

 

Meadowlark kissed Maya on the head again, "ahh darling, mummy's here. I just had a really terrible bad dream." She gently wipes Maya's tears away. Then strokes her fur, "please don't cry my baby, it's ok now" she pulls Maya in closer to her and gently puts her head near her heart, and strokes her mane, soothingly.

"Y-you have bad dreams...too?" Maya asked. She thought she was the only one who had bad dreams. "I-I thought I was the only one ho had bad dreams." Maya stated as she stopped quivering and burrowed herself into Meadow's warm and fuzzy fur. She certainly didn't want anything to happen to her only mother.

Meadowlark smiled, "Yes dear, everypony has bad dreams from time to time. Mine was.." she stops and thinks if she should tell her, "It was scary, it made me think....made me think that I'm a bad mother and that you deserve better than me." She says, snuggling Maya close to her.

"That's, that's terrible..." Maya stated as tears started to well up in her eyes. She wanted Meadowlark to stay with her forever. "You're a good mommy, not bad." Maya stated as she snuggled into Meadow's fur. "And you will never change..." Maya added as she felt the warmth of Meadow's fur.

Meadowlark snuggles Maya closer to her, "thank you sweetheart, that means a lot coming from you" she kisses Maya on the cheek and closes her eyes to try to get back to sleep, then realizes they are still outside, "It's getting cold and dark out here, how about we go inside, where it's more comfortable?"

"Ok then." Maya stated as she got up and walked into the house. She then found a pile of hay, which was made during the construction. She then walked over to the hay. "Come here mommy, it's a warm pile of...of...what is this stuff anyway?" Maya asked as she spread herself across the pile of hay.

Meadowlark smiles, Maya sure was a sweet, cute little filly, "It's hay darling. You can either sleep on it or eat it, I'll get work on a more comfortable bed in the morning" she says as she lays down next to Maya, wrapping a wing around her and snuggling her, "I'm sorry sweetheart, I didn't mean to make you cry before"

Maya got comfortable and soon fell asleep. However, in the middle of the night, her stomach growled. She suddenly woke up. "M-mommy?" She asked as she looked around. She had a small cramp in her stomach. "I'm hungry..." She stated as she touched her cramping stomach.
