Stitches laughed. "Well, you drove a car down the highway on top speeds.....and crashed...."

 

Shadow looked at the mirror he just smashed. A bit of blood tricked from the wound on his head. He felt a bit better though. The question still rang loud and clear. "Why not just do what you do best? being bad!? there is nothing left for you here!"

"I know that!" ten huffed, wincing as he found yet another pain in his body. He looked down and saw all the stitches covering his body, making him look like frankenstein's monster. "Celestia... How bad was I?"

The Egotist looked down on the city below. His cape flapped behind him as the wind began to pick up again. The sky was dark and the air smelled as if it might rain.

 

The Egotist was standing perfectly balanced on a radio antenna atop the tallest building around. He ran his gloved hand over his mask. The cool metal rang as the hand carefully removed it from his face.

 

The Egotist chuckled. Much like himself, the city below was far from average. According to his research, it was home to a plethora of other beings defined as ‘super’ by the common people. To him, they were not just super but superior.

 

The Egotist dropped the mask and it fell towards the ground. He jumped after it.

 

It’s time to meet the locals, he thought to himself.

 

Egotist’s boots suddenly flared to life and his fall sped up, now boosted by rockets. He caught up the mask then, in one fluid movement, he snatched it out of the sky and placed it securely onto his face.

 

Egotist continued his fall until he was only a few feet from the pavement. He spun around, his feet now facing the ground, and landed with a boom. The sidewalk cracked at his feet and he straightened up.

Dakota was walking down the street. He was getting irritated, Being Shadow's errand boy was getting boring. But, being head of the guard always made up for it. "I swear to god if he forgot something off this list and asks me to go back out im going to punch him in his face"

Dakota saw some guy with a rather funny looking getup land on the ground and shrugged him off. He needed to get back to the club.

Shadow began to think about it, Every little thing. "Everything is wrong.....it's all wrong...." he muttered. Something began to sink in. It was always on his mind from the time Rain picked him over Six till now. Now he was finally accepting it, believing it.

Egotist turned toward the voice. Upon seeing the character he tipped his hat.

 

"My friend, some is an understatement. That little stunt I just pulled? A poor performance on my part, and not much of one to start with. Though I digress, the name is the Egotist. It's not the world's most flattering name, but why lie? I am what my name makes me out to be."

 

The Egotist looked towards the sky and sighed.

 

"A beautiful sky, perfect atmosphere for some chaos, no?"

It was the mans talking that turned Dakota's attention. "Maybe, maybe not." he said, blatantly interrupting their conversation.

Egotist turned toward the voice. Upon seeing the character he tipped his hat.

"This city has had enough Chaos to last a lifetime." *King said looking out at the street that was still littered with the bodies of humans and those who the shadows had devoured and possessed.*

"I think it deserves a break."

Dakota muttered "The fashion queen must be a villain, and the one with the coin fetish must be a hero" he assumed.

Egotist turned to the newcomer then back to the first.

 

"Oh! Ha ha!" the Egotist laughed. "I see, I see. You don't quite know what I mean do you? No! Clearly not! You see, chaos is not always bad. It through chaos the very universe exists! When I said chaos, I assume you took me for your average villain."

 

Egotist threw his arm up in a flourish, a grin slowly spreading across his face.

 

"You will soon see, that I am not, average and villain that is."

 

A compartment slid open on the raised arm's bracer. As it did, a small missile shot from the opening and flew into the sky.

The missile exploded when it reached the cloud layer, parting the clouds and revealing the sun.

 

"I am an agent of balance, I bring about chaos and order," Egotist said in almost a bored tone. "And when I'm not doing that, I do whatever I want. My actions have no weight. I am not evil nor am I good, I simple am..."

"Yeah that's pretty rad Lady Gaga" he replied a rather irritated tone, he was quite amused with the show he just put on though.

*King glared at him.*

"This golden coin is the crest of my family. It was the last thing my parents gave me before they were murdered."
