Big Shot's mansion was essentially a solid stone fortress of massive size. Its walls were well trimmed of ivy and any other plant that could grow through its cracks. On the inside it was well furnished and decorated with bright colors, paintings and expensive furniture. It rested deep within a forested area of private land south of the main city. All of the land surrounding the mansion was privately owned by him, and most had learned not to trespass on his land.

 

Big Shot was wearing his usual purple overcoat and smoking a fat cigar as he sat at a small dining table in his mansion with two other guests. One guest was an old stallion with a gray mane and a thick mustache. The other was a much younger mare in a lovely red dress.

 

His head butler, Shale, stepped into the room and politely delivered a message. "Excuse me sir," he said, "The mercenaries you contracted have arrived."

 

Big Shot's expression brightened. "Send them in, I want to see them face to face," He ordered.

 

Shale was confused by this unusual request, but he quickly complied. He bowed to his employer then stepped out of the room. When he came back a few minutes later, he brought with him seven new ponies who followed him into the room one at a time.

 

The first to enter was Mason, a small pony of slender build with scraggly black hair.

 

Behind him was Snowstorm, a considerably more well groomed white pegasus with effeminate blue hair.

 

The third to enter the room was Rune, a unicorn with a long red mane and tail, but absolutely no fur on the rest of his body. Instead, he had pale-green skin exposed that was also almost 50% covered in elaborate body tattoos and symbols.

 

Fourth came Roto, another small stallion with a dark green trench coat that covered a majority of his body.

 

After him was Oni, a brutish blue earth pony who was nearly double the size of the other seven.

 

The sixth to enter was Femi, the only female of the group. Her body was covered completely with white rags that obscured her entire body and only left room for her eyes to peek through.

 

Last came Katu, a dark yellow maned pony with a white body.

 

The seven stood across from Big Shot after they entered the room. All of them had a look of confidence on their faces.

 

"Allow me to introduce you to The Yokai Seven!" Big Shot said to his guests, "They may not look like much, but there's more to them than looks I assure you! These seven are the best mercenaries on the market!"

 

"And the most expensive," Roto added with a grin.

 

"Yes, I've heard of them," The female guest added, "But what I heard was that they were supposed to be actual supernatural monsters. These certainly don't look like Demons by any stretch of the word."

 

Mason chuckled, then spoke with a shrill, nasally voice, "Don't worry about us. I assure you, we will meet our reputation."

 

"I love these guys! They got confidence, that's what a lot of this market is missing these days!" Big Shot praised.

Rail looked over the city from the glass window of his estate. It was raining and he loved watching the water pour down on the city.

 

A stallion entered his office and politely waited for Rail to acknowledge him.

 

"Yes?" Rail said without diverting his attention from the window.

 

"They've arrived on schedule, Rail," The stallion said proudly.

 

"Perfect. I'll be down in a moment to greet them," Said Rail.

 

The stallion bowed his head and left the room.

(I've added a couple differences and twists to it, especially near the end. I will be ripping of Yu Yu Hakusho, but not nearly as much as Bleach did <.< Also, pay close attention to the posts I make in the beginning. You may get some clues.)

Rail stepped onto the balcony that overlooked the lobby area where the three guests were standing. There were two flights of stairs to his right and left which lead down to them. He had an unlit cigarette in his mouth and a dull expression on his face. He telekinetically lifted a metal lighter to his cigarette and lit it. The flame briefly illuminated his face, giving a clear image of the scar on his face before he extinguished it and closed the lighter.

 

"That's an awful rude thing for you to say," he stated to Sole in a dull voice. "This is a simple business transaction, no need to be hostile."

All I want is my sister back..." he said, causing the flames of the cigarette to flare and disintegrate it into ash. "Oh, and don't you know? Those things are bad for you health..." he said with a small grin.

sole didn't bother replying as he focused a ball of chaos magic in his talon and threw it at rail. "I'd usually advise against killing you, but no one kidnaps and holds my wife hostage and gets away with it. I'm going of the kill this time." He said coldly, a glare etched on his face as he shot the deadly magic in the hopes of hitting him.

Rail had the same smoking habits as Big Shot. The only differences were that he preferred cigarettes to cigars and had the advantage of a much younger body. He took some time to reach into his coat pocket and pull out a second cigarette. He then went through the same process to light it, and puffed out a haze of smoke.

 

"Smoking is probably the least of the things that might kill me," He said without making eye contact with them. "But I digress. This isn't about my smoking problem. You have all come here voluntarily because I promised you a deal. Sole, Crimson, Mythos, you have all lost somepony whose dear to you and I believe I know where they are. You also all posses exemplary skills, something that I need."

One of Rails bodyguards standing beside him used her own magic to crate a bubble shield around Rail. The energy blast dispersed on impact and Rail was still standing in the same position, smoking his cigarette.

 

"Perhaps I should clarify," he said after signaling his guards to lower their weapons. "I am not the one who napped your wife. On the contrary, it was a rival of mine."

"So distrusting," Rail sighed. He removed his cigarette, then began to explain. "If you know about me, then you certainly know about my former partner, Big Shot. He's the CEO of Manehattan General, and Equestria's most successful crime lord." Rail smothered his cigarette in an ash tray and continued. "We rose to power together as partners many years ago. We took this miserable city and turned it into an empire. But that only lasted so long. I never liked that scum, but I managed to work with him for the most part. That is, until his greed drove him to the lowest form of crime, the capturing and trading of slaves. He began accepting contracts for of-shore clients to capture and sell specific slaves of a certain age, gender, race, and build depending on each client. That's when I left his company, I don't operate in that area of crime. Looking back now, I probably should have killed him."

"I believe we can trust him, for the mere fact he was able to make the connection between me and the one this Big Shot has kidnapped," the grey unicorn says in considering for offering as explaination, "I have told no one Stardream, and based on how we left in such poor terms I doubt she would have talked about me. I didn't even know she lived in Manehatten... and as the stories go, what choice do we have. one we care about has been ponynapped by a villian, a damsel in need of saving. If we don't save them who will?

"If you still don't trust me, I'll explain how I got this information," Said Rail. He pulled out a printed document with a long list of names and locations. After each name was a brief description of the pony's age, gender, and build, then a date. Three names on the list were neatly highlighted, the names of the three missing mares. The date next to the names was fast approaching, only three days in the future. The locations they were being shipped to were various, unrecognizable colonies outside of Equestrian control.

 

"I've been closely watching Big Shot's business transactions. I came into a bit of luck when one of my spies acquired a copy of this shipment list." He walked down the stairs and gave the document to Mythos. "Normally I wouldn't act on this information, but I came up with a plan. As luck would have it, three of the hostages on this list are of close relation to three individuals of talent, that's you three... I don't know why your loved ones are needed on the black market, but I do know that if they are shipped out, you will likely never see them again. And you want them back."

"There is only two reasons I could see a pony wanting Stardream on the blackmarket... I just hope it is not for the more dargerous reason," with such the stallion turns to his employer before asking in a tone tgat suggested business, "what to you have to offer us in way of information, that which would better lead us to taking your former parnter down?"

He's not getting away with slavery any longer, and he just picked the wrong slave to mess with this time." He finished

"You said earlier that you would kill the one responsible. That's what I want you to do." Rail said to Sole, "Infiltrate Big Shot's mansion, rescue your companions and kill him where he lies! That stallion is pure filth, his time of greedily draining this city is coming to a close."

 

Rail calmed his tone, then added, "Allow me the pleasure of a few more words and I will give you a warning. Big Shot knows I want him dead, and he has become very cautious. My spies discovered one other piece of vital information you need to know. He has hired a very dangerous group of mercenaries called The Yokai Seven. I trust you've heard of them."

Sole scoffed "the ones calming to be demons of 'superior power'? Yeah, they won't be a problem. If they get in my way they're going down." He said confidently, before sighing and trying to calm himself "so... Just give me directions and I'll do you a favor, but I'm not doing it for you... I'm doing it for my wife. When I get my revenge and save her I'm done, got it?" He said sternly

At this Mythos smiles widing, as if pleased with this reveal instead of afraid as would be a more... appropriate reaction. He offers with his horn glowing to show seven figures with an appearances likely exaggerations of their true forms, "Yes, the Manehatten demons, terrifying figures with seemingly supernatural abilities. Expensive yet effective... though it may sound foolish I have wanted to experiance a fight with these monsters."

Expensive yet effective... though it may sound foolish I have wanted to experiance a fight with these monsters."

"You may have to." said Rail. "Big Shot's mansion is surrounded by miles of forest. And there is no road leading up to it. He takes great measures to rid his land of intruders. You will find the forest in the hills south of town with his mansion in its center. If I could tell you more, I would."

"It's been a dull week for stealing anyway, and I haven't fought any strong opponents in a long time...so sure, I'm up for it. When can we start?" he asked.

The forest around Big's mansion was empty of any ponies or activity. A chill wind swept through the trees and their leaves.

As sole noticed the others were not following he turned to them before facetaloning. They couldn't fly. With a sigh he landed in front of them "alright, let's get going. We're wasting time that could be spent kicking ass." He said, before walking ahead eagerly.

Crimson turned to see that Rail was right, Sole went ahead, but came back soon after and eagerly told them to follow, before going on ahead once more, only this time on the ground. Crimson rolled his eyes and followed the eager griffin. "I swear, sometimes I envy winged creatures...walking is very Inconvenient...anyway, hey buddy, are ya coming, or what?" he asked Mythos, before trotting after Sole.

Mythos nodded before following with words, "Yes of course, just considering a plan of action for when we get to the forest. I feel it would be unwise to simply walk in without having an idea of what we may face." As he speaks the others may notice what seems to be a smile of amusement and for any perceptive enough they would realize he held that very same smile during the whole meeting.

Rail watched the doors shut close as the three left his estate. A butler offered him a small glass of champagne, which he happily accepted

 

"What if the plan doesn't work?" One of his senior guards asked.

 

"If the plan doesn't work, they'll be dead and I'll have to try again. That's the beauty of it. For once, I'm risking nothing."

After an uncountable time of walking, the small team of three vengeful stallions, could finally see the lining of the trees, leading into a massive and deep (lol) lush green forest. Where, somewhere deep inside, lies their destination for the mission. Crimson smiled and sighed in relief. "Finally! There it is!! So, are we just gonna jump in?" he asked.
