Zyla Fae 5,405 February 20, 2014 Share February 20, 2014 Poster 1 "A good first post would explain the rules of the game" Poster 2 "But you're not going to do that are you?" Poster 3 "'Cause the game's simple enough, I thought I'd just give an example" Basically, just carry out the conversation, with each post starting with the letter that comes after the letter the last poster started with, after Z, loop back to A Alright, I'll start

Zyla Fae 5,405 February 20, 2014 Author Share February 20, 2014 Excellent! Here's a conversation starter then, if you could bring any pony into the real world, who would you pick?
I used to be a stranger 7,994 February 20, 2014 Share February 20, 2014 Firstly, one would have to consider the cartoon vs. ontological ramifications of that effect. Would they retain their cartoony effects? How big would my little pony be? Could Pinkie fly? Would the brought pony be abducted by a government body for scientific research? Would they be considered property because they were an animal?
cuteycindyhoney 13,308 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 Generally, it would depend on if Equestria followed physical laws that match those of Earth's universe. Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
I used to be a stranger 7,994 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 (edited) Hypothesize with me then: the amount of cartoon-ism imported from the Equestrian Universe is directly proportional to how awesome it would be. Thereby, for those people who think it would be not awesome, Rainbow Dash would be essentially a blue-skinned shetland with wings tatooed on her rump. For those who think it would be completely awesome, Rainbow Dash's proportions would look very similar to spatially dimensioned fluffy soft truncated round parts just like in the show, and be able to fly despite the physics that forbid it. For the sake of simplicity, therefore let us assume that everyone on this thread would simply think it awesome that a pony from MLP actually transferred to the real world. I don't have a strong enough opinion towards any specific pony as to which should come to this world, but I would find it an interesting entertainment if someone did thence choose one. AcaMelody 5 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 I for one, Think you have to factor in how they would act. If you have Pinkie Pie come in, then It would be extremely weird for a girl with party always on her mind to be in the real world.
cuteycindyhoney 13,308 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 Just because a girl has party on her mind all the time, doesn't make her weird! Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
TwitchyTail101 8 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 (edited) Kinda gotta agree with that... Zyla Fae 5,405 February 23, 2014 Author Share February 23, 2014 Lol, the topic doesn't have to stay the same through the entire thread, as long as you don't just jump to a new topic that has nothing to do with the above post
I used to be a stranger 7,994 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 Mentioning Pinkie Pie, much of what constitutes her unusualness is her ability to "play with the fourth wall", which probably would lose some of its potency if translated to reality. In fiction and artistic media, there is a thing called "The Fouth Wall" which conceptually separates what's happening 'in the world of the show' with reality. This is best explained where its name came from: in stage acting, actors did plays surrounded by four walls: the first three walls were the Background (the back of the stage), Stage Left and Right (between which they would act) and the invisible "Fourth Wall" which was an unmentioned barrier that would limit interaction between the actor and the audience, since the character the actor was playing "Isn't real". This is played with in modern media by having characters and such reference the fact that they are in a video game, or grabbing the camera even though within the Universe which we're seeing on screen, the camera "doesn't exist". Pinkie Pie's abilities are highly dependent on the Rule of Perception within Cinematography interplayed with the Fourth Wall: like walking off one side of the screen, and then entering back on the other. Many of these rules don't work as well or disappear when they are not constrained by the rules of perception as per the perception of a single '4th Wall Entity', namely a camera. Taking the example of walking out of the line of sight for the camera and reappearing on the left, as she does in Hearth's Warming Eve. In reality this could be accomplished by simply walking around someone in a clockwise fashion while they remain standing still: you leave their line of sight on the right, and reappear on the left. It would be quite anticlimactic for another observer. So her humor would depend upon her squashy stretchy abilities and sense of humor a lot more than we could trust something like her Pinkie sense.
