Royal chariot pullers

forgive me if this goes somewhere else, but just something i was just thinking about.....it's been shown on more than one occasion that celestia and luna's royal chariot are pulled by pegasi, and what i wanna know is, why in the hay they have pegasi pulling the royal chariot or even have a royal chariot because, hello obvious alert, alicorns have wings of their own?

There is a sentence somewhere in The Song of Ice and Fire (too lazy to go find it) that summarizes why nicely. I don't remember the exact wording, but the general idea is that the trappings of power are a source of power. Much like Detective Butler said, the royal sisters would have chariots and chariot pullers as a symbol of power. The castle, the thrones, the chariots, these are all ways that they uphold their lofty status.

Why are the rich chauffeured around? Status and power. As we saw in Three's a Crowd the other princesses, if we go by Cadence, don't get much exercise.
