Prom/Formal Experences

I was asked out by the cute Japanese foreign exchange student... I had a Battlebots project that I had been working on for over 5 months the same weekend. I went to the Battlebot competition and watched robots completely wreck shit for hours. One of my friends slapped me when I told her this fact though... She was all like, "It doesn't matter if you are being graded in a class )that is essential to learning engineering, the field you want to enter in after you graduate!) You should have blown it off and stood around awkwardly with the girl of your dreams (and made it the most dissapointing thing of her visit to America!)

I loved it (: My date and I sat around talking about our hopes for the season 4 finale the entire time, but still. I wouldn't have traded it for the world.

I thought prom was a stupid thing. Never went in High School, never desired to go, and still think it's stupid....Very few people I know have "good" memories of prom, and whenever anyone says "oh, you should have gone" or "it's part of the High School experience" I just say "why" or laugh and further explain how trite and frivolous Prom actually is.

First time wasn't so great, as proms typically aren't. Couldn't stand most of the people during school hours, so the last thing I wanted to do was spend time with them afterwards.Still, my curiosity compelled me to go. I partook of the refreshments, looked around the room for a while, and went home. The event and most of its attendees were pretty stupid. But that's high school for you.

I did not attend my own senior prom when that arrived, having learned a year prior how obnoxious it is. Instead I went to a Chinese place for dinner with a friend who was also skipping it, and then went home to play some games and watch some old wrestling tapes. That was far more enjoyable than prom.

I had a high school prom and it was totally awesome. I met my date the first day of school. We became friends on the first day of school, and on the second day, declared prom dates.

If Junior Prom counts, it went great I guess. I took a good friend as a date and we had a great time. Basically danced the whole time although I cant dance well :\ Didnt pull the trigger and ask her out/even kiss her afterward like I hoped I would because....... Im a giant coward. :( But regardless we had fun at the dance, went into the city after, and came home really early into the morning. Good times overall

I'm the random retard that everyone avoids at school, so I won't go to prom, unless I get a girlfriend. Usually a lot of girls are after me, until they realise that I'm not like everyone. So it's a maybe.

I only had one prom, and it sucked.

For starters, I was going to do a double-date thing, but my friend had to cancel because his date was graduating that day.

Second, since my family attends a Saturday church, I starting the evening off there.  My mom was going to be my ride, but she decided that she wanted to talk to some guy she had just met about one of the wars Israel was in during the Old Testament.  (I don't remember which one, though).  After bugging her for almost 2 hours, she decided to ask a friend of hers to be my chauffeur, so that she could carry on with her conversation.

To make things more interesting, we got lost.  The party was at Portland State University, which is in downtown; we went to the University of Portland first.

Now that particular weekend was during the annual Rose Festival, which meant driving and parking was nearly impossible.  There went about 20 minutes...

Oh, and to top it off, this was the first dance in who knows how long that ended at 11, rather than 12.

By the time we got inside, there was only about 25 minutes left to dance.  Most of my friends had already left, the king and queen had been crowned, the photo booth had already been packed up, and almost all of the snacks were gone!

Gimme some time to come up with something new, okay?  MUCH LOVES!!!

I don't think I'll go to prom. It seems like just a sort of a yawn of a party. Plus, I don't want to have to pay for it :P

Also, I'd much rather be playing any video game or watching TV than that.

I know some members here may not yet have had their first prom, but for those who have, how was it? ^^

Mine was pretty bad, my girlfriend and I had a huge fight in the middle of it, and it completely ruined the romantic feeling of the night. We left early, and broke up about...2 days later, I think. Things just weren't the same after that, so it didn't last long at all. ^^"

How about you all? :)

Sup, dawg. Turns out we have a thread about the same topic. I've merged yours with that one. Just a heads up, broseph.

My first, Junior prom was okay. I went with my then-boyfriend. Who wasn't very fun but meh. It was themed "Oriental Elegance" and we had Chinese food. Everything went fine. Nothing bad.

Second, senior year. I went with my girlfriends. I danced with different boys but I didn't take a date, despite being asked. It was themed "Manhattan Nights" and was city-themed looking. It was better than Junior prom.

My first dress was long, sparkly and purple/teal.

Second, senior dress was short/red.
