Commander_PonyShep 349 March 12, 2014 Share March 12, 2014 Since Rarity was the one who formed the Ponytones, and was the one who suggested that Fluttershy became Flutterguy to replace Big MacIntosh's hoarse (no pun intended) voice, does that mean that "Filli Vanilli" was a Rarity episode at the same time as a Fluttershy one? Or, was it entirely a Fluttershy episode, despite everything I said above? And what about "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils"? Since it focuses on Sweetie Belle's relationship with Rarity, does that mean it'll be a Rarity/Sweetie Bell episode, and not just Sweetie Belle alone? Chuckles4lyfe 441 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 To be honest, I felt that Filli Vanilli was more of a Fluttershy episode. Yes, Rarity was present but I felt that she was only there to help move the story along and didn't really learn a lesson unlike Flutters. Think about it: I think the only thing Rarity learned was that she can't push Fluttershy to do something that she isn't comfortable with. Like Flutters said she needs to take "baby steps" and will get there eventually. I can totally see where you're coming from about this ep being a Rarity/Fluttershy episode. But I felt that the focus was more on everyones favorite shy yellow pony, then the white marvelous mare . #Squadgoals "But that day...The day I discovered racing...I proved that the legends were true. Flutter's lover <3 8,210 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 It was purely a Fluttershy episode with Rarity there as a plot device.Though Them being best friends played a part in it as well.Rarity was there merely to help Fluttershy along. 1 Fluttershy's lover, she's my waifu. I'm in love and obsessed with her, she's given me shyabetes. *Hnnnng* Yellow Pink Squee Blogs | Ask one of Fluttershy's biggest fans | Official Fluttershy fanclub page! Commander_PonyShep 349 March 13, 2014 Author Share March 13, 2014 I believe I also asked about "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Tolls". Will it be a Rarity episode as well as a Sweetie Belle episode. Judging by the episode's summary, it seems it will focus on Rarity as well as Sweetie Belle and her relationship to Rarity.
Pixel Stick 927 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 Fluttershy was the main focus of the episode. Rarity and Zecora were merely catalysts, and I believe you can count Pinkie Pie as the main antagonist (though a weak one). Scootalove 10,692 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 It was a Fluttershy episode, since she was the character that said episode focused on. Rarity and the others were present just to be plot devices and move the story along. As for Whom The Sweetie Belle Toils, it will focus on Sweetie Belle but Rarity will be involved in it too. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Commander_PonyShep 349 March 13, 2014 Author Share March 13, 2014 As for Whom The Sweetie Belle Toils, it will focus on Sweetie Belle but Rarity will be involved in it too. Which is a problem, because that would mean that Rarity will still have two episodes of her own, while all of her friends receive three, and Applejack receives five, thus disrupting the balance of the Mane Six. I'd rather believe that it's a Sweetie Belle/Rarity episode, and not just a Sweetie Belle episode alone, because this will focus on Sweetie's connection to her sister, Rarity. But then, I'll have tons of people say, "This is a Sweetie Belle episode, not a Rarity one", and that would frustrate me even more than it already did. There's a simple solution to this: Don't keep score. Just enjoy the show and don't worry about whether somepony has had enough episodes focused on them. Application REJECTED! Courageous Thunder Dash 7,825 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Filli Vanilli was a Fluttershy episode because it continued on where Hurricane Fluttershy left off, overcoming your fears. Princess Lona 382 March 15, 2014 Share March 15, 2014 I think the only thing Rarity learned was that she can't push Fluttershy to do something that she isn't comfortable with. Like Flutters said she needs to take "baby steps" and will get there eventually. I would even say that Rarity didn't learn that lesson in Filli Vanilli. Within the first five minutes of the show Rarity asks Fluttershy to join the Ponytones, Fluttershy says no, and Rarity says "I respect your wishes". It was just a reiteration of the lesson Rarity learned in Green Isn't Your Colour. I actually found it quite refreshing to showcase character development by having a character understand something about friendship before the lesson of the episode is learned. My OC, Tabula. I know it might seem like an issue to you, but no matter how many episodes each of the Mane Six get we should know by now that they are not always consistent. I don't think it matters what kind of episode that focuses on the character, as long as the episode holds up as a whole then it wouldn't matter.
