Pony Drawing Requests

Over the past few weeks, we've had a large incoming amount of threads for requests in drawing other peoples OC's (Here are two examples just from today). I haven't really thought of a solution that could please everyone, but that's really because the people that requests these don't seem to understand the time and effort it takes to create such art. It's so time consuming that most people that do them on other websites charge rather large amounts of money to complete decent ones, and most members here don't seem into commissions anyways (personally, even if someone wanted to start a commissions thread I would be against it just because of the creed of "free art" started by the initial Avatar and Signature threads created by Nico long ago). I would just like people that want their OC to know that even someone with incredible artistic talent takes hours to create a good OC picture.

 

Any solutions to this would be welcomed.

I did ask about it cause I got curious and felt hesitant about making a thread but I didn't know if it's something people would be annoyed at or not, but it didnt seem like it would be an issue so I just decided to make a thread anyway cause it seemed ok. I know it takes some time and I'm pretty patient about it but I've seen threads about it and it seemed like something people do so I wanted to join in. That means it's not ok then...? Great now I feel guilty of something :

 

Should I just get the thread deleted or something then?

Not that I feel obliged to, it's just that we need a forum expectation on these. It's just awkward scrolling through a bunch of them with no responses.

Or just a big thread where it all can be? There's something like that one one of the boards I've been to.

The problem with that is nobody will do them. And the requests will just sit there forever. Everyone would want one (especially if the drawings were good quality) and it would be impossible to keep up with.

I'd say just make a separate board for requests, it can be for art, looking for group members, etc. This way it will help keep things a bit more organized.

 

...plus there are artists who are bored with free time who are willing to take on projects without expecting anything in return but a simple thanks in return, just saying. I know at one point I was always willing to make graphics in photoshop for people back when I had the motivation and time.
