  1. See title. So I realized today is April 1st, you know what that means! I fairly recently discovered I can do a fairly convincing Mickey Mouse impression, I want to put it to use somehow, and I figured today would be a great day to try some prank phone calls. So anybody have any great ideas I can try? Bonus points if the idea includes dropping names of other Disney characters. Some ideas I have in mind so far include calling people at random saying they won a trip to Disneyland/World. Then another idea includes calling a tow truck and/or auto repair shop and having a wild story about how "...Goofy wrecked Donald's car, and now he is PISSED..." But if any of you have an even better idea, i'd love to hear it, and keep it clean and in good fun. I don't want Disney suing me for something like Mickey dropping an F bomb. I also plan to record it and stick it up on YT, i'll post the verdict in this thread. Even if it doesn't happen today, I WILL still do this regardless.
  2. ...this isn't something recent, but rather something i've been wanting to do ever since I realized its possible to make music using audio clips from TV shows or taking already existing songs and giving them a new spin. How long, you ask? I've always been inspired by artists like Enigma and Deep Forest. But back when I was a kid, during the days of Napster, I downloaded some Sailor Moon songs only to quickly realize they where something some average joe fan made at home. This meant *I* could do it myself, and ever since then, I've always been wanting to try it. These days, I've been wanting to do it more than ever, especially since technology has come such a long way and is much more commonplace compared to 10+ years ago. Currently, my main computer (its an older Mac) is busted and won't be fixed until I manage to get a job and have a steady source of income coming in (whenever THAT will be), but I figured in the meantime I can gather info/read up on it. Question time! -What are some great programs for beginners like me? What is their price tag? Is their any additional equipment I might need? -Is there any tutorials I can watch/read? (This should also help me determine if this endeavor is worth my time/would truly be interested in or not.) -What about Garage Band? I tinkered around with it a few times, but is it secretly some awesome remixing program with some cool hidden features I overlooked? ...thats a start, but yeah, any help would be appreciated. I've had ideas accumulating in the back of my mind for years that I want to get out. One idea from this past year combines the Twilight Zone theme, "Fly me to the Moon" from Evangelion, the Doctor Who theme, a couple tracks from Star Wars, and other iconic tracks from famous sci-fi films/shows. It sounds bizarre now, but man, if only I could get it together... TL;DR I'm a total noob, who has zero experience with making music remixes, really wants to start, but has no idea how. Where do I begin?
  3. Rarity isn't frilly enough, her outfit looks too plain, and Rainbow Dash and Applejack have GOT to loose the skirts. And they don't need their mark on their cheeks. I can see parents now..."These dolls are evil! They encourage young girls to get tramp stamps! etc. etc. blah, rant." Fluttershy looks adorable though. The saddest part? I've seen much better fan designs.
  4. The Crystal Empire: I really enjoyed this whole episode(s) (I even liked King Sombra). But the highlight? Shining's epic wife throw. Too Many Pinkie Pies: Lots of great Pinkie moments One Bad Apple: Dat song, and the moral of this episode is one of my favorites in the whole series. Magic Duel: I liked Twilight's plan to outsmart Trixie. Sleepless in Ponyville: Scootaloo gets her time in the spotlight (and more Luna too). Wonderbolts Academy: Finally seeing Dash getting one step closer to joining the Wonderbolts. Apple Family Reunion: Applejack gets her own song! Spike at Your Service: The only thing preventing me from completely hating this episode are those awesome Timberwolves. Keep Calm and Flutter On: DISCORD! Just For Sidekicks: I really like how the story intertwined with ep 11. Games Ponies Play: I liked seeing more of the Crystal Empire. Magical Mystery Cure: Celestia sings!
  5. I think they are a little creepy, yes, but they are no where near as terrifying as those creepy So-soft baby pony toys Hasbro keeps making: Have fun trying to sleep tonight. (BONUS: A really neat custom someone made that actually looks cuter than what you see above. )
  6. I had a feeling someone must've had the same ideas and made another thread already. Ah well, as stated, it was just a silly, wild idea.
  7. I will apologize for that first remark. I've always been fascinated with animation, and have been very familiar with how its such a time consuming process, so seeing people thinking that episodes are actually made in such a short time before they air just seemed downright silly to me, and forgot that there are people who are just as clueless as I once was. I bring up hand-drawn animation because I simply understand how the process of hand drawn animation works. I know some things about CGI and flash, and that the steps involved are similar to a hand-drawn project (like the planning/writing/voicing stages), but I have no idea how long it takes to animate with either. I was merely providing examples of how animating all large projects takes time. Dark Qiviut up there explained how things quite nicely and did it better than I ever could, flash animation-wise I mean. And I may be an advocate of hand-drawn animation (as I would hate to see the art form die off completely), but I don't think its superior to all CGI/Flash (as some hand-drawn animation I have seen is just as bad as the worst CGI). But lets save that debate for some another thread.
  8. I can live with people misspelling my name, because at least those people actually remember my real name. What irks me more is when people call me everything but my actual name. My name is Katrina but for some reason everyone keeps calling me "Katie" "Kathy" "Katelyn" "Kathrine" etc. It drives me nuts! So yeah, I'll take "Catrina" any day, because at least it *sounds* correct.
  9. Man, some people just do not understand how the animation industry works. This. I know for a fact in the days of hand-drawn animation it would take over a year (almost 2) for an animated movie to be completed from start to finish (and thats if theres no major changes or executive meddling involved, if that happens then the process can take longer). Independent self-funded projects can take even more time. But if there where plans for a video or theatrical release, always, ALWAYS, everything is completed long before the release date. Tv series where the same way. Episodes where written, animated, and voiced months before the show aired. The only animation studio I know of that actually animates their shows as they air is SHAFT, but thats because they are all a bunch of perfectionists who fail to organize thier time properly. So as a result some of the episodes they have aired on TV are incomplete even shoddy (Bakemonogatari is an excellent example), but they always clean up and fully finish all their projects for the DVD release, and the final result always looks gorgeous!
  10. I'm half joking, yet also half serious here. Think about it for a sec. What does religion have in common with the brony community? Quite a bit actually. Both inspire people to do great things. Both inspire people in positive ways. Both inspire some to change for the better... Now I'm not sating we should suddenly start literally worshiping Celestia and Luna as our gods, make Twilight Sparkle Jesus Christ, Faust being the one who started writing the Bible, and the show staff being the ones who continue to add to it. But rather we should better organize the thoughts and ideals already in place, have several spokespersons (which would be ideal in keeping the community organized during future community disasters on the level of Derpygate, the Unicon financial meltdown, and the Twilicorn drama), and have it presentable and appealing in such a way so those who *aren't* pony fans would be willing to jump in and help spread such ideas. We should call it "The Church of Harmony", or "Friendship-ism". The best part? Friendship-ism accepts all those who believe in other religions. ....Just a wild idea thats been rolling around in my head for a while now that I somehow felt compelled to post at 4am while half asleep. Thoughts? Or should I have just kicked the thought into the back of my head and completely forget about it?
  11. I loved Angel Beats as well, and I friggin love the soundtrack! I like to turn up the volume when I have Girl's Dead Monster on and have my car windows rolled down. I think the reason why people "hate" it so much was the fact that it just ended so abruptly, I know I myself hated that. There was just so much potential story left, but sadly due to the lack of funding they had to cut it short. Such a shame really. I'd love to see KyoAni redo it and expand on the story, like what they did with Air, Kanon, and Clannad (which where all done by the same writer as AB).
  12. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Some people always seem to bash it, that hate was even worse before it even aired, and erupted into a heated argument between anime-only viewers and the manga readers ("The anime was perfect! Why another?!" "Shut up and just watch, it will be completely new and GOOD! Its based on the REAL story from the manga." ) As a fan of the manga, this saddens me greatly, that some people refuse to even try it, or unfairly diss it thinking its a copy of the first anime. Brotherhood stays much closer to the original story than the first anime, which dare I say, is better in so many ways! Yes, the first anime had its strong points, but also alot of "Wtf am I watching?!" moments as well. On the plus side, those who have watched both have now erupted into a new argument: which anime was better? I like Fairy Tail, and I greatly enjoy reading the manga, but I don't LOVE it, and I can understand people's criticisms. I absolutely adore One Piece. It has such an elaborate story that intertwines and connects. Beneath every story arc you can sense theres multiple ones brewing beneath it, which you can tell its creator has something very epic already planned for the ending of the series. Fairy Tail? It looks like One Piece, but it just doesn't feel like One Piece. Where One Piece you get the sense that Oda knows what he wants to do and where he wants to go with it, Mashima just seems to be making stuff up as he goes along. Like Fairy Tail, with Bleach, I enjoy it, but I don't LOVE it, and can understand people's criticisms as well. At one point, I did love Bleach...until it got past the Soul Society story line. I still love Kubo's art style, its almost...poetic...the way he lays out his panels, and manages to come up with some really fun, creative ideas (as proven in his other work, Zombie Powder), but the man does NOT know how to write a coherent story. I stopped watching the anime just before I started the 2nd filler story arc (ep 167-ish?), and stuck with the manga as I felt it cut the crap and moved at a faster pace (which it did). But even he manga has been dragging its heels, keeping it going for as long as possible.
  13. Vanilla Coke...on ice. Best. Drink. Ever! Then runner up is Sunkist orange soda, and when the mood strikes, then I love to mix it with Absolut brand vanilla flavored vodka.
  14. (No idea if I posted in this thread or not, but doing it anyways.) I prefer to refer to myself as "not straight", "bi" when people prefer I must have some kind of label they can understand. "Not straight" as its much easier to say than "someone who knows for sure she is not straight but is unsure is she is bi or a lesbian as she has never had a relationship with another girl and really wants to, but she lives in a rural area where its rather difficult to seek out a homosexual relationship with anyone and is also hesitant to seek out a relationship period with any girl after falling for a straight girl, which for the first time in her life she ever felt so crazy in love over someone before, and was falsely lead on thinking that she was willing to try a homosexual relationship, only to have her heart shattered as she fell for a guy, completely oblivious to her feelings, thus experiencing the most painful feeling she had ever felt in her whole life, then to add to confusion has finally, after all these years, have suddenly been finding some guys kinda attractive after so many years of finding them NOT attractive, they have all been bronies, which could be that the reason why she never found them attractive is because she never found the right guys until now, but she still refuses to persuade a relationship with another guy until she tries to have a relationship with another girl, as after so many years of being in the closet driven to madness of finding girls attractive, then to go throughout the rest of her life without even trying it would drive her insane even more...." ...perhaps I should go with "unsure" instead.
  15. I mostly prefer manga. With manga I feel it's MUCH easier to figure out the starting point of a series, vs American comics wheres theres decades upon decades of continuity. So it feels very intimidating for a new reader. Plus I find manga has a very nice...flow to it, and i like the wide variety of genres. As most American comics (the more commonly available ones anyways) are all about superheroes, it gets old really. *sees most of the comments of what manga series people have read being mostly Naruto and Bleach* Seriously? When theres hundreds of other titles out there? This saddens me greatly. Actually, they both developed separately if I recall correctly, but at one point some American comic artists where influenced by Japanese ones. But yes, manga IS pretty old.
  16. Harde's maybe? They are technically Carl's Jr with a different name afteral. (Carl's Jr is fairly common out here in AZ). I understand your delima though. A place you like to eat it doing things that you are so strongly against, and at the same you you would like to support those who are caught in the crossfire who only want a paycheck to support their own family. I say its up to you really. But for me its an easy choice, as the only Chick-fil-a's around me are in the major cities far away and I'd much rather spend my money at fast food places that are closer to home. ...and a brohoof for you being bi as well buddy. /) Huh, I didn't realize such a small percentage goes back to the main company. Learn something new everyday.
  17. I feel like i'm eating someone's science project. *eating multi-grain tortilla chips*

    1. ~Scootaloo

      ~Scootaloo

      Probably, because you are XD

  18. I have never eaten there, but due to the whole controversy I never will now. As someone who is bi who took forever to find the courage to come out of the closet, I refuse to support a company with such a strong, hateful, old-fashioned mind-set that could spend the money I gave them to spread such hate. Such a mind-set belongs back in the segregation era, not in 2013. And if you really want waffle fires, Carl's Jr has them.
  19. This, and this. When I first saw the S3 premiere, I was unimpressed by him, but after reading some people's in-depth analysis, i've grown to love the guy. Hes the Sauron of MLP. A dark, powerful, ever-watchful and cunning evil. You don't always need alot of dialogue or screentime to be a great villain. I really think the writers should bring him back, his horn seemed to survive the blast and all. Maybe have some storyline where he decides to get revenge against those who took the Crystal Empire away from him (and nearly succeed), but the powers of love and friendship save the day of course. ... want to see a fanfic of that now.
  20. That used to happen to me alot when I was younger and watched more TV, but these days its been with music. Example. Just the other day I had "Hungry like a Wolf" by Duran Duran randomly play in my head for the longest time. Later that day I had the radio on.... and "Hungry like a Wolf" plays.
  21. I'm loving your art style! Could you do my OC? I don't have a pic handy, but heres a description: Her name is Blue Marigold, shes a pegasus with a blue/orange color scheme (light blue body, dark blue mane with orange highlights*), and her cutie mark is a pair of marigolds. She has a friendly, cheerful personality. Her mane style your welcome to have fun with, maybe some fun, girly, anime-like hair-style? But as stated, I'll let you have fun with it (but no mohawks please, lol). *I know your images are in B&W but I figured i'd include it if you decided to shade it.
  22. Good lord kid. You do not need 3 threads asking the same thing. You can't always expect someone to magically appear in less than 24 hours willing to help you out with your writing project. I know your eager to get going but you need to be patient. I'm looking for an artist for a webcomic I want to do, but I know it might take time to find someone. In the meantime you can always start planning out ideas. Write out detailed profiles for any original characters, and summaries for some storylines. That way when someone does come along and they want to help you out, you have your ideas all laid out and ready to share.

Could you draw my OC? Her name is Blue Marigold, shes a Pegasus with a blue/orange color scheme (light blue for the main body, a darker blue with orange highlights for the mane). Her cutie mark is a pair of marigolds. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, and the mane style you're welcome to have fun with (just no mohawks please. lol!) Oh! And simple style please, thanks.
  24. Well, I did mention I am looking for "someone to help draw it". As for the writing aspect of this, I'm pretty confident I have a good handle on it, I thank you for your kind offer though. However, I have some fanfics lined up I would love to get a 2nd opinion on, especially critiques on what I can improve. One of which is a crossover I already started that I plan to do some major rewriting. Perhaps you can assist me with that? I
  25. North Korea fascinates me. I found myself watching a bunch of videos on YT of people's accounts about what they witnessed/people's lives there at some point last year. The whole idea of a nation, with crazed leaders, completely cut off from our 21st century world, still stuck in the 20th, just intrigues me. Its the short of thing that belongs in some novel like 1984. Its even inspired a book of my own I'd like to someday write.
