Notice: Your Favorite Pony Is A Dragon, And Always Was

It's so lucid, so vivid. I was looking at my favorites list. Who's moving down? This pony, that pony, blah blah blah. Who's moving up?

...Spike.

He's gotten the shittiest writing with ignored morals everywhere and backwards character development. HOW could he be climbing up above members of the Mane 6? What the crap? I definitely liked him more than Twilight. But also... Fluttershy. And then Pinkie Pie. And then Rarity. And then, well, I don't always like RD but I do always seem to root for Spike in his appearances nowadays. Even Applejack, frickin' Applejack, can be written poorly. But that dragon? He's had a TERRIBLE season and all it made me do was like him more!

...I like him more than Applejack.

...Oh my new dragon god, I'm a Spike fan.

A Pamphlet For The New Spikefan:

Intro By: Stellafera

Ideas By: Stellafera late at night after watching way too many episodes of Community

Actual Writing and Hard Work By: DashForever

Many many years ago, there was an intense and violent war between the pony fanbases. Friend battled friend. Loyal Dashfans battled determined AJ admirers, Rarity fanatics took on Luna lovers all across the land. It was all in all very pointless, but nobody would let up. In the end, the few survivors marched out onto the plain, knowing that each step was probably one of their last. And they were all right. Out of nowhere came something vicious and completely unexpected. The Spikefan

Months and years of neglect and the other groups forgetting they even existed had turned this poor person angry and more determined than ever. Swiftly putting that rage to good use, he wiped out the survivors. This humble Spikefan was amazed that they had actually won something . And now that they had inherited the earth, they were free to remake it in their image.

However this is only the beginning of the story. There is no need to fret, for the truth is that we are all The Spikefan. Look at this boy

He will always be there for you, even if you don't return his feelings.

He makes delicious snacks

He'll stay behind to watch your performance even if everyone else leaves, because he knows it's important to you

640px-Spike_%27Aw%2C_don%27t_mention_it%

He can have the best line in episodes where he only has one line

He has the restraint to not nibble on himself even while fully aware that as a crystal dragon, he's probably delicious

All of our favorite characters are nothing in front of this little dragon. The one the writers love to spit on. Spike gets written into the ground on a weekly basis but stays likable and lovable all throughout, because what makes him so special is his ability to power through obstacles. Not obstacles in the plot or with his character. Spike battles the writing itself. And wins. Spike is god and Morgan Freeman. Spike is love. Spike is a friend to the elves and has won Wimbledon. And Spike is best pony, even if he’s not a pony at all. And a part of you has known it all along.

Very few Bronies, even myself, saw his ways at first. There is no shame in admitting that you were once a Nondragonite or even an Antidragonite in your past.

Share your own stories of how you found Spike!

I think it all started when I saw Andy Murray's face for the first time. Never quite succeeding, crushed under the mountain of expectations of a country denied its proper place in history for decade after decade. And yet he never gave in, in spite of the entire world making him the punchline to whatever joke it was trying to tell. Nay, he teamed up with a retired Czech badass and retooled everything to take on the world and prove that he deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as other great champions. And I realized that he and Spike are much alike, in sense of humor and in how they are treated by the world.

Or maybe he's just been a likable and amazing little dude all this time and I've been too busy being distracted by the flashier, four-legged characters. In any case, from now on I know where my loyalties lie. I stand by Spike. Crawl on, purple dragon of glory.
