Thunder gently picked up Ariel and put her on his back. "We're gonna go back to the house." Rainbow stated. "Yeah, we'll catch you guys later." Blitz stated as he followed Rainbow and Storm out the bowling ally into another direction that Thunder wasn't going. Thunder then gathered some electricity and made his bowling stuff disappear. It reappeared inside his locker, which was already locked.

Ariel watched as Thunder used his abilities to teleport his bowling equipment away, again finding herself curious of that talent of his. Yes, she knew how it came to be - and the thought was still a little frightening to her - but it was still so fascinating to see that electricity could be used as magic like that; after all, it was that same ability that gave her these wings she had now, and the gift of flight along with them.

 

Her mind drifting from that, she couldn't help but be excited about going to the toy store and possibly even getting a toy. She bounced up and down a little, before realizing she was doing so and quickly forcing herself to be still.

"You know Ariel, even though ponies say that unicorns are the only ones who can use magic, pegasai and earth ponies can use magic too. Rainbow can walk on clouds with no problem, that's magic. Earth ponies can lift and carry things almost three times their weight, which is magic too! But here's the fun part, any other species of pony, besides unicorn, can learn basic telekinesis and telepathy." Thunder explained as he walked out of the bowling alley and towards the toy store.

Ariel paused to think about that for a few minutes. She hadn't really considered the inherent magic that each of the three races possessed; naturally, she only ever really thought about Unicorn magic because it was the most obvious, apparent kind. But she realized that he was right - each race of pony had some form of magic, whether it could be clearly seen or not.

 

Her ears then perked up in particular interest when Thunder mentioned telekinesis and telepathy. "R... Really? Anypony can learn to do that?"

"Oh yes, but it takes quite a bit of time to master. Tried to teach it to this young foal but he thought that you had to tell the object to move. He quit on me because he didn't believe. What he failed to do...was be patient. He was so quick to want to learn telekinesis, but always wanted to do it his way and not mine. Sadly, he went home without a single lesson on telekinesis." Thunder stated. They arrived at the toy store. "Well, here we are." Thunder stated.

Ariel went quiet for several minutes at the mention of patience. She remembered when she was with her previous parents, how they made her want to give up in nearly everything she did, they made her feel so worthless. All she could do, was be patient. Just be patient, and wait for their wrath to pass; wait until the night came so she could cry herself to sleep, only to fall into the realm of vicious night terrors when she closed her eyes; and wait until the morning, so that the process could repeat itself yet again. The day she had run away was the day she could take no more... the day she had had enough of being patient.

 

That was in the past now... but the memories were still there. She tried to tell herself that everything was okay now, now that she was living with her new family. Finally, she brought herself out of her thoughts when they arrived at the toy store.

"What would you like?" Thunder asked Ariel as he started to look around at the various toys. He saw a Wonderbolt action figure set for sale. "I wonder if Ariel would want that..." Thunder thought to himself as he continued to eye the toy set. It was the only one in stock.

Ariel eyed the Wonderbolt action figure set curiously, tilting her head. She didn't seem to recognize the ponies depicted by the figures, and seemed to notice only that each of them had wings and wore the same sort of outfit; so she assumed they were on a team of some sort. Action figures weren't of particular interest to her, anyway, but she was still curious, especially when Thunder was looking at the same set.

"Would you want that? Or would you rather want to take a look at the fillies section?" Thunder asked as he was about to move on the fillies section. Suddenly, a delivery pony came with a few more of the Wonderbolts action figure sets. Thunder waited patiently for Ariel's decision.

The delivery pony briefly glanced their way as he went about his work, giving them a smile, especially to the cute little filly. In a bout of timidity - and perhaps even somewhat out of habit - Ariel tried to hide herself when that happened, covering her face with her little wings as well as she could. She was still so anxious around new ponies, it seemed, even if they weren't interacting with her directly. She shyly nodded to Thunder, indicating that she indeed wanted to go to the fillies' section to look at the toys there.

"Okay." Thunder stated as he went to the filles section of the toy store. In this section, there were soft and cuddly animals. There were even ones that were battery powered and can interact with the player. Those were more expensive. There were also small make-up sets, tea sets and dress-up sets. "What would you like from here?" Thunder asked.

Ariel seemed to take a special interest in the animal plushies right away. She looked at the selection of soft, fuzzy stuffed animals, her gaze settling on one in particular. She leaned and poked a toy that resembled a bear; as it turned out, that one was one of those that danced and sang, and had activated the moment Ariel touched it. The filly cried out in fright, badly startled as the toy had seemingly come to life so suddenly. She whimpered, starting to tremble as she stared at the toy with wide eyes.

"Shhh, shhh. It's okay. It won't hurt you. It's only a toy." Thunder stated as he hugged Ariel to comfort her. He then picked up a cat toy and snuggled it. It let out a little purring sound and a soft meow. "See, it won't hurt you." Thunder stated handing Ariel the soft cat toy.

Still trembling a little, Ariel stared at the cat toy that had been placed in her hooves. It did feel soft to the touch... very soft. She then gave the toy a snuggle, listening to it purr and meow, and thinking that it almost sounded like a real cat. She slowly smiled and hugged the toy cat tighter, deciding that she liked this one.

"I guess you like that one...eh?" Thunder asked as he waited. While he did, he put the bear toy back on the shelf making sure not to set it off again. He successfully put it back on the shelf without setting it off. "That cat toy only costs 3 bits. I have enough." Thunder stated.

Ariel looked up at him, giving him a little smile as she continued to hold the stuffed cat toy close. Her ears perked when he mentioned that he had enough bits to get the toy. "R-Really? That means I can keep it?" she asked, looking up at him with large eyes that glimmered with hope.

"Yep." Thunder said with a nod and a smile as he went to the front and waited for Ariel. He gathered some electricity and made his saddlebag appear from the blue. He took three bits out of it and prepared to pay the clerk once Ariel came with her new cat toy.

Ariel gave him a bright, happy smile as she cheered, "Yay! Thank you, Daddy!" Still holding the cat toy tightly, she fluttered her wings and lifted herself into the air about a foot or so, flying to Thunder and the clerk while carrying the toy. She seemed to almost exude energy,  she seemed so excited to have a new toy to call her own, and such a soft, cute, fluffy one at that.

"Soon, you'll be old enough to get a real pet of your own." Thunder stated as he handed the clerk the bits. "Thank you sir." The clerk said. Thunder then gently picked up Ariel and her toy cat and put her on his back. "Well...onward to home." Thunder stated as he exited the toy store.

Ariel tilted her head at the mention of a real pet... A toy was one thing, but she wasn't sure how to feel about live animals, if only because she had hardly had the chance to interact with them before. But, that was something to worry about later. For now, she happily snuggled her new cat plushie. "I'm gonna call him Mr. Sunshine!" she declared, already putting a name to the toy.

"That's a great name!" Thunder stated as he spread his wings and took to the skies. A paper suddenly flew and nearly hit Thunder in the face. Thunder happened to catch it. It read: "Free flight competition tommorrow. Winner takes home 10,000 bits." "Whoa! I'm so in." Thunder stated as he flew back home.

Ariel peeked over Thunder's shoulder at the paper, wondering where exactly it had come from before she briefly scanned its contents. "A... flight competition?" She tilted her head. "Like... a race or something?" she asked. She spread her own little wings, but only for a brief moment before she folded them again. She knew she was hardly capable of keeping herself in the air for more than a few minutes at a time, let alone fly at such high speeds in competition against pegasi with far more experience with flying; though the thought had indeed flitted across her mind, if only for an instant.

"Not exactly a race. It's more of aerobatics, or stunt flying. You do all sorts of crazy loops and such. You'll be judged and your score will depend of your performance. The highest score wins the competition and the large purse of ten thousand bits." Thunder stated.

"Oh." She paused to think on that for a minute or two. She almost certainly have couldn't managed such a course. Thunder, on the other hand... "So, you're gonna compete? I'm sure you could win it, Daddy!" she said encouragingly. "You can do just about anything!" Of course, this was a conclusion drawn from just a little observation; but the little filly indeed had a great admiration for him already.

"Sure I can." Thunder stated. They soon arrived home and Thunder put the paper on the table. "Well..." Thunder stated. "Ugh...I got work tomorrow. Flitter wants me to take her place." Storm stated. "Really? Is she still dating Thunderlane?" Thunder asked. "Yep...I think they've delclared coltfriend and fillyfriend." Blitz stated. "Ugh, couldn't she just have somepony else sub in? Storm already has WAY too much to do in that factory." Rainbow stated.
