Courageous Thunder Dash

Recommended Posts

@,

Ariel gently held on to Thunder as they headed down to Ponyville. By this point in time, she had grown to enjoy these little flights, and spread her own little wings to feel the breeze in her mane and in her feathers. Her wings weren't strong enough nor did she have the stamina to fly for extended periods of time yet, but she hoped that someday soon she would fly alongside her family or be able to fly about freely on her own.

@@Miss Reaper,

Thunder soon landed by the bowling alley. "Well, here we are." Thunder stated as he headed to the door. He then entered it followed by Rainbow Dash, Storm Rush and then Electra Blitz. Thunder then went to the locker area and got his bowling stuff out. He then came back and found a lane. "Score doesn't really matter here. Up in cities like Manehattan, everything is electronic and it's mandatory you put your name into a computer so it'll keep track." Thunder stated.

Ariel hopped off of Thunder's back, fluttering her wings to slow the short drop to the floor as she then looked around. Having never been in a bowling alley before, she was curious of just about everything she saw, wanting to examine everything she might be able to get her hooves on. Though of course, she restrained herself from wandering off or poking around where she possibly shouldn't; if only for fear of reprimand.

@@Miss Reaper,

"There's an available lane." Thunder stated pointing to a lane. "Come on Ariel. I'll get you a ball once we're all settled." Thunder stated as he walked over to the lane and put his things down. He took out his two bowling balls and laid them on the ball returner. Storm, Blitz and Rainbow went to get bowling balls off the rack. "Here, come with me." Thunder siad to Ariel.

Ariel was delayed in responding for a moment, still so fascinated by looking around at everything surrounding her. Then she turned towards Thunder and said, "Okay!" After which she would proceed to trot after him, still turning her head this way and that looking around.

@@Miss Reaper,

They went to the ball rack. Thunder reached and took a light 6 pound ball. "This is the lightest they've got. Is that too light for you?" Thunder asked. Meanwhile Rainbow, Storm and Blitz were still searching for bowling balls with weights that suited them.

Ariel perused the selection of bowling balls on the ball rack for herself, her eyes settling on a pink ball within her reach. She tugged it from the ball rack, it landing with a dull thud on the floor. It was one of the heavier bowling balls, almost definitely too heavy for a young foal like herself, but she wasn't quite aware of this. She butted the ball with her muzzle to see how easy it would be to move along, only to receive a painful surprise as she hit the heavy bowling ball; the ball barely budged, and she was left with a very sore nose. "Ow!" she cried, rubbing her muzzle as tears formed in her eyes.

@@Miss Reaper,

"It's okay. It's okay." Thunder stated giving Ariel's muzzle a little rub. He gathered some electricity and let a slow healing current run through. "All better? Make sure you don't butt the ball hard with your muzzle. You push it, not butt it." Thunder advised. He then demonstated by taking a ball from the rack and pushing it gently with his muzzle. "See?" He asked.

Ariel couldn't help but scrunch her muzzle when she felt the tingling healing current, but the pain did fade away. She looked to the pink bowling ball she had picked out, and tried to push it again a little more gently, only to find similar results - this time, without the painful part. The ball simply wouldn't move, for it was too heavy for a delicate little filly like her to move. She frowned a little; that ball had been her favorite color, but it would seem that she wouldn't be able to use that one.

@@Miss Reaper,

"Maybe that one's a little too heavy. Here, try this one." Thunder stated as he got out a ball that looked similar but was lighter. Meanwhile Rainbow Dash, Storm Rush and Electra Blitz were waiting patiently. It was no hurry since it wasn't that crowded on that day.

Ariel examined the other ball that Thunder picked out. It looked similar to the one she had picked, but it must have apparently been lighter than that one that wouldn't even budge from its place no matter how hard she tried. Carefully, she nudged this new ball with her muzzle, and was delighted to see that it at least moved. And it was also in her favorite color!

"Alright...looks like we're ready to go have some bowling fun!" Thunder stated. He then gathered some electricity and made Ariel's ball levitate so he could carry it to the ball return. This way, Ariel wouldn't tire herself out muzzling the ball all the way to the lane and ball returner.

Ariel followed after Thunder, watching him levitate the bowling ball with fascination. She still was quite amazed by how he could wield electricity as a form of magic; kind of like a Unicorn's magic, and yet he was a Pegasus! Eyes fixed on the levitating ball - and consequently not quite watching where she was going - she somehow managed to follow Thunder to the lane without tripping over something.

@@Miss Reaper,

They arrived at the lane where Blitz, Storm and Rainbow were waiting. "Now, let's decide who wants to go first..." Thunder stated. "Ariel...it's your first time so...would you like to do the honor of going first?" Thunder asked. "No pressure." Rainbow stated. Thunder smiled at this remark.

"Okay!" she said brightly, retrieving her ball before proceeding to the lane. She stared down the bowling pins on the far end of the lane, narrowing her eyes as she tried to determine how she would get this bowling ball she had down the lane and into those pins. Then, once she was fairly certain about the alignment of the ball to the bowling pins, she gave the ball a push with her muzzle. With anticipation, she watched the ball roll down the lane... and into the left gutter. The filly pouted at this, disappointed that she hadn't hit any pins at all.

@@Miss Reaper,

"Hey, hey. Don't pout. We've got all the time here. You still have one more chance. Each person gets two rolls depending on how many pins they knock down." Thunder stated. "It took me a while to get the hang of it. It just takes time Ariel. It's normal for ponies who've never played before to get a gutter ball on their first roll." Rainbow stated.

Ariel looked at Thunder and Rainbow for a few moments, taking their words into consideration. Then she noticed her bowl in the ball return, and decided to go ahead with her second roll, retrieving her ball and setting it in front of the lane once more. Again, she stared down the pins for a good minute or two before she pushed the ball forward, using all of her might. And again, she watched as the ball rolled down the lane. This time it didn't sink straight into the gutter, reaching the end of the lane and knocking down a few pins in the process.

"Yay! Great job Ariel!" Thunder cheered. The pins were reset by a computer mechanism. "I'll go next." Rainbow stated. She then picked up her ball and placed it before the lane. She took a bucking position and pushed the ball with her right hind leg. The ball went down the lane and curved to the right. It knocked down 5 pins. "Not bad for a first ball." Thunder said clapping.

Moving aside, Ariel watched as Rainbow prepared for her first roll. She thought for a moment about following Rainbow's example and using her hind legs come time for her next turn, but she dismissed the idea, thinking that she didn't have enough strength in her little legs for that. When Rainbow had succeeded in knocking down 5 pins, the filly followed Thunder's example and clapped for her as well.

@@Miss Reaper,

"Try to get a spare Rainbow." Thunder stated. "Oh I will." Rainbow stated as she set up for her next ball. She then kicked it and the ball went for the pins. However, at the last second, it curved and only knocked down 2 of the five. "Ugh, why does it always curve like that at the last second?" Rainbow asked a little disappointed that she missed. "That's because when you kick it, you'e not hitting it dead on." Thunder stated. He then got up and went to get his bowling ball.

Ariel kept on watching, making a note that kicking the ball somehow didn't seem as effective - or rather, accurate. In fact, she recalled that Thunder had mentioned something along those lines sometime earlier. Well, it didn't make much of a difference to her; she was going to keep to the muzzle method. She looked at Thunder, watching closely to see what his technique would be.

@@Miss Reaper,

Thunder got up on his hind legs and stood all the way upright, perfectly balanced. He then picked up his ball. He then took three steps as he swung the ball back and rolled it very hard down the lane with a two-hoofed swing. The ball curved on the outside, and was ground against the gutter's edge. "Get in there!" Thunder shouted. The ball hooked in sharply, hit the pocket and there was an explosion of pins flying everywhere. No pin was left up. "Yeah! That's the way we get it done!" Thunder said happily as Rainbow, Storm and Blitz gave him a high-hoof. He then extended his hoof to Ariel for a low-hoof.

"Way to go, Daddy!" she cheered as she bumped her hoof against Thunder's, giving him a low-hoof. She also giggled happily, glad to see that she was able to witness such an amazing strike from him. She hoped that maybe she would be able to learn that technique of his; that was, if she could learn to stand upright on her hind legs for more than a few seconds without falling over.

@@Miss Reaper,

"Someday Ariel, you will be able to balance on your hind legs. It just takes practice." Thunder stated. Storm went next. He picked up his ball and went for the bucking style. The ball rolled and curved. It missed the pocket and hit some pins. 3 pins were left up. "Ugh...missed the pocket..." Storm grumbled. "But you'll get it Storm." Rainbow encouraged.

As Storm had his turn, Ariel was trying to practice standing up on her hind legs, spreading her little wings and trying her hardest to keep her balance. She stayed up for what she thought was at least a few seconds longer before she lost balance and fell back into a sitting position. Then the filly resumed watching the game, waiting until it was her turn again.
