"And what was taht advice she gave you?" He stomped forward, head held high like a dragon of authority over a hatchling, "Hmm? Did she give us any help on how to recover my wife? How to lower the sun?"

 

When he realized Seth was terrified of his presence and what was happening ot himself...he lowered his guard, sighed and turned towards the door. His mind swirled with confusion and questions. What really happened on that balcony with the two of them? What was Seth not telling him? Why didn't he not trust him with it? Is Lightning Bliss in danger? The questions continued to surge, to the point he snarled at them. He shook his head, and placed a hoof on his temple, feeing a stressful headach coming on.

 

"I've got to rest..." he said abruptly, not wanting to pester Seth anymore, nor get more questions out of him for now, "i'll be in the doctor's room with Bliss...if you are ready to talk afterwards...You let me know..." He walked out, slamming the door behind him.

Seth was speechless. It wasn't his place to deny anything about what happened to Bliss, but it was critical that he maintained the secret of the spectra. He would instantly lose their trust if they knew what he was. The wolf sighed, looking to the now empty room. It was... hard for him to accept all that was going on. Celestia had died, Bliss in a coma, Luna pushing herself away, and now Night Lights was distrusting of him.

 

With a second heavy sigh, he stood up and made his way to the throne room to work on the papers. There was also the matter of his first day court session that was about to begin. That was going to be rough. As he passed the halls, a pony approached him, one from the council.

 

"My lord," He said with a bow. "I wish to apologist for the council's abrupt choosing of you being the prince. With you knowing the laws of Equestria and your connections to the other lands, it seemed only right." The pony groveled. He was obviously the one who picked the short straw and had to give the apology.

 

"First off..." Seth said with a sigh. "I don't blame you for this. It was a sound idea. Second, don't call me by my title. It's... not necessary. My stature is only temporary, so I rather not get used to the throne. Just call me Seth."

 

"Thank you. my lea- Seth" He corrected. "As you probably know, Night Lights has returned to Bliss's side." Seth nodded in understanding. "I wanted to talk to you here... alone, in regards to the dragon. There are... roomers about him... that he distrusts you." He said with nervousness.

 

"Those aren't roomers." Seth corrected, still facing forward and walking. "He has his reasons though. Sound reasons. In a way, I would be surprised if he wasn't."
 

The pony squirmed for a second, hoping as to not mess up. "Well... I feel he is not trusting you with... Princess Lightning Bliss. I believe he feels that you two would be getting too... close... as you are on the throne with her."

 

"There is no reason for that mistrust. Night has a guard on her, and I respect him enough that I would never try to take his love." Seth reassured. The two reached the throne room stepped in. The pony nodded, seeing as his job was done, and parted.

He made his way with a grunt back to Blissy's room. Soon after the doctor permitted to have her moved to her courtiers knowing within a few days after nutrition treatment she'd wake. Nights agreed and helped with moving her to her prepped royal courtiers.

 

It was a well decored room just by looking at the doors before they opened. Old red oak, with golden large handled doors, with the engraved symbol of her cutiemark with a crown above it. The two unicorn guards keeping watch over her room opened the doors as the doctor pushed her gurty bed along with Nights in. He hadn't fully appreciated their accomodations since he stayed with her since they got there, but he had never taken the time to fully observe it till now. The bed was large, big enough to hold three Chimeras, with an over draft of white silk curtains. There were two windows with marble seals that overlooked one side of Canterlot city, while the other was a small balcony completed with soft outdoor chairs. The walls were heavily decored with the finest cyrstal frames, curtiousy of Princess Cadence as a offer and welcome to make her as well as himself, feel more appreciated that they had come on such sad conditions. There enlarged paintings of her and himself, made by the finest earth pony crafts, diamond lamps and of course...shelves upon shelves of some of their belongings and his favorite decor gems.

 

However as much as he awed the luxuory of their room, it wasn't their home...and more then anything he just wanted to take her home with him...But knowing they couldn't, and with her in the condition she was in...He slowly helped the doctor lower her into the bed. She gave a low whimper and sigh as they pulled the heavy red blanket over her, followed by the doctor fluffing her pillow to keep her head up.

 

"Be sure to keep her head elevated while she recooperates Mr. Lights," the doctor bowed to the great dragon, no longer afraid of him, but held him in highest respect, "and try not to worry...Ponies in comas can sense their surroundings sometimes...she'll sense your presence...Just be with her, and keep her in your heart like I know you do."

 

"Thank you doctor, I'll be sure to write about your heroic efforts to save my wife..." Nights nodded to him and placed a heartful hoof on his shoulder.

 

"It was my pleasure, I'm sure anypony else would do what I did if they could. Try to get some rest yourself," he shook hooves with Nights before leaving, "you look horrible..."

 

"I feel horrible... my head hurts."

 

"Ah, take this," he handed him a small blue pill that was translucent and sparkling inside, "it will relieve small pains and achs for awhile. Its more likely just stress, do get some rest. I'll be by to check on you two tomrrow." With that he left the room, giving Nights a small wink, the shut the door behind him.

 

Nights started at Blissy for a second, then growled at the exterior of the room. He then proceeded to fly up to the windows and block them out with their curtains, making the room dark and gloomy. "If this is gonna be our home for now...least it can look like a cave..." He sofetly landed back into the bed with Bliss, wrapping a hoof underneath her neck and holding her close, stroking her mane as he laid back, watching the doors, his teeth snarling as he did. "She's my mare...no matter what..." he growled to himself, "and no matter what anypony says...She doesn't belong to Seth...she never will...If anypony or wolf...tries anything on her...then they'll face my-"

 

He suddenly stopped as she heard her whimper again, slightly yawn, smile gently then leaned into him. He tighten his grip around her more possiessivly, then turned his attention to the door again..."She's mine Seth...Whatever happened on that balcony...changes nothing...she is mine..." He looked at her then, a gentle smile formed as she watched her chest go up and down, "I'll not let anypony or wolf...take you from me..."

 

-- One Week Later --

 

Lightning Bliss had woken up some days later after the incident, and she was flustered with questions by the council, the guards, but especially of Night Lights about what happened. She did her best to explain to all of them in turn about her foolishness of attempting to move the sun herself...but all she could remember was a jolt of pain followed by darkness...that and a fadded dream about Princess Celestia. Aside from Night Lights, all the others accepted this explanation while reminder her at their darkest year, to be mindful of her safety and not do anything so dangerous in the future. She hummbly accepted this request...but didn't understand why Night Lights continued to ask her what happened, ever since she woke up.

 

"I'm simply trying to understand," he said when she snapped at him, "Seth was there and...something happened to him that he's not telling me, something involving his eye and your magic-"

 

"For the LAST TIME," she snorted then, "I don't know Night Lights! I didn't even know Seth was there! Why do you keep pestering me on this? Isn't it enough that I'm awake and alive? Isn't enough I did to SOME extent, lower the sun just enough that some ponies might get a bit of sleep?"

 

He stopped for a bit, then sighed and took her into his arms protectievly and affectionatly..."I'm sorry Blissy..." he nuzzled her mane, inhailing her scent.

 

"Nights...?" She sensed his turmoil, a storm was raging inside him, something he wasn't telling her, "what is wrong sweety?"

 

"It's just..." he sighed again, "Seth said something happened...he won't tell me the full story and... I'm just worried...Worried about you working with him... he might be dangerous and...Please..."

 

"Shhh," she pulled him away and kissed him, "He is our friend Nights...he's here to help us...not put us in danger...Relax? I'll go and talk to him now that I"m feeling ready to help him with the messages and scrolls. I'll ask him his side of the story and report back to you." She stood up then, walking away as he held on to her long as he could before she slipped out from under his hooves. "In the mean time...maybe you should get back to your guarding duties. Might help to take your mind off things."

 

"Ya..." he sighed again not fully agreeing with her, but stood up despite, "I am getting a bit rattled in this cage room...I'll see you tonight then?"

 

"Of course," she smiled to him, then left the room, not knowing he had darted his eyes, glaring sinisterly...In the back of his mind...he knew this was just an opprotunity for Seth to take advantage of the situation.

 

"No..." he sighed again, "Seth is our friend...and I trust my wife...Let it go you stupid dragon..." He left the room, slamming it behind him, trying to eat his words.

 

-- Throne room --

 

She levitated the doors open and spotted Seth instantly, sitting on the throne and going through the scrolls again. He seemed exhausted and skinner then usual, while she felt a bit brighter, not sure why. She couldn't pin point if it were the rest, the well made breakfast she's been getting (by doctors orders), or the fact inspite of the chaos, she felt she made some strides in doing something about it. She fluttered over to him as he was deep entranced in reading.

 

"Ahem," she spoke to catch his attention, "I'm back Prince Seth, and ready to get rolling of dealing with this crisis." She smiled to him and fluttered up to her own throne.

Seth sat in the throne room like he had for the past week, working on countless papers. He had tried to get sleep and grab a bite every so often. However, the nation came first. He had to deal with every letter and paper that came through the throne. He had gotten word from the wolves that the freezing was getting better. Because of Bliss's actions, the sun had a bit of an effect on the ice build up. It was still hard to deal with the fact that there were towns that were still untraceable from the first wave of snow and ice. The lack of anything good around had gotten to him. ever since the last talk with Night, Seth had tried not to talk to the pony. He regretted this as he wished he could just see Bliss once to make sure she was ok.

 

At the moment, he was reviewing the resources Equestria had available for relief efforts nation wide as well as allies that needed them. There was a water crisis due to the heat, as well as a predicted food drop within the next year.

 

The sound of the doors opening caused him to look up. What met him made him smile in the first time in roughly a week. "Lightning Bliss!" He exclaimed, wagging his tail. He stood at his throne, looking to the mare. "It's truly great to see you! How do you feel?"

She smiled greatfully and as she landed on her thrown, "I'm feeling alot better, though I can't say for Night Lights..." she looked away from him for a second, confusion about the whole thing with her and him, about what happened with her and Seth, still foggied her mind, but now wasn't the time. "But I"ll talk about that later," she retracted and focused on the issues at hand, the real crises she was here for, "what's the word on Equestria? Was there any improvement to the situation despite my risky efforts?"

 

She pulled a scroll out from a pile of of them Seth was looking into, it was the more rugged looing one with dirt covered all over it. She smelt it first, giving a face of disgust, but opened it knowing exactly where it came from. "Gods...even with my attempts there's still issues going on...not much imporvement. This is a message from one of the diamond dog leaders of the Everfree Forest...The soil is drying up where they are, so dry they can hardly dig for gems or make new homes for their families...They live under ground as their nature...If they are forced to live above ground...life won't be easy for them..."

 

She darted to another scroll that looked to be from Empress Nortica, it stated that the Empire was holding strong but the oceans were reacting to the unusual lunar activity now that its been stuck in the same location the same as the sun. Fishing was becoming more and more of a struggle and their food supply was running low. She sighed and began writing a letter back to Nortica, sending her deepest regards and immiedate assistance as soon as she and Seth can figure out where all the biggest concerns are happening within Equestria.

 

"There's something that's got to be done..." she said as she finished writing... "Seth...I know attempting to lower the sun on my own can be done...but obviously not alone...and I can't just keep trying and hope I get strong enough to do it.." She turned her eyes to his yellow golden ones then, "surely there's something we overlooked...ah an automatic spell perhaps?"

Seth sighed, looking over Bliss's shoulder. He had seen many smiler to it over the past days. He then turned to the letter in his paws. He began to read it over as he began to speak. "Well... I did look into it when I had the time... there is a way to start an auto-cycle function... but it takes more magic to just start up. Our best bet is to wait for Cadence and Shining Armor. They sent a letter saying they were delayed... but it was vague as to what." Seth explained. He put down the list of resources and turned to Bliss again. She seemed troubled not from the letters as much as something else. Something he couldn't see.

 

"I... am sorry for not helping you in the beginning. Even then I should have been there to help with the workflow." He said, resting a paw on her shoulder. "Bliss, thank you for being as strong as you have been. I owe it to you for taking the brunt of the paperwork when this began."

A small tear escaped her eye, realizing he was the first to fully comprehend the workload she had previously been under. She sniffed her nose, making a loud squeak from it, then rubbed it and turned her head away to clear her eyes before turning back to him again.

 

"I...don't want to complain but," she lowered her head, her bangs covering her eyes, "it was hard...and saddening, depressing to deal with all this paper work. I couldn't understand why the councilors didn't take on some of it...or Twilight getting the strength to..." She bit her lip for a second, "I know, I know...It's not fair of me to ask her, Celestia was her teacher...she was her closet pupil...but still..." She leaned into Seth's paw, scooting closer to his side of the thrown for support, "Here I am...an uneducated low ranked Princess...can't control her magic...and all the other royals expect me to know how to run this kingdom without teaching nor training? It's REDICOLOUS!"

 

She realized she blurted out the last word and bit her lip again, it quivering under her teeth without control. "Even Prince Blueblood wouldn't give me some advice on what it means to rule... He simple spoke about me looking my best...maybe even getting my hooves tripped..." she gestured by holding up one of her hooves for him to see, "or getting surgery on having my... "large ears" clipped..." She shrugged as she levitated the replying scroll for Empress Nortica...focused her magic and zapped it into a thin rainbow aura of smoke, which proceeded out the window towards it's reciver's desntination. "I'm just glad somepony else here cares what I"m going through...and is willing to help me... Even if that somepony happends to be a wolf." She smiled to him.

Seth smiled at the mare with warm eyes and a helping smile. He was glad to have somepony to talk to, as wall as a friend to bond with. "Bliss, you have nothing to be sorry for. I am only doing my duties, and you are doing yours. I owe you my life, Bliss. You saved me from a life as a werewolf, and accepted me when I was weak. I owe you more than anypony here. I just wish I could have prevented the coma. Your husband was worried about you to the point of near breakdown." The wolf said. He looked into the pony's tear-stained eyes with his own. He felt sympathy for the poor mare, hoping that this would be resolved quickly. She didn't deserve this punishment. She deserved to be away from palatial and cause for once in her life. One could say the same for Seth, but it didn't mater to him as much. She was still free and innocent. He was broken in and hardened. It was people like him to make sure that people like Bliss stayed innocent while the workers keep the hardened peace alive.

 

As he thought this, another impulse came to him. After a few seconds of starring at the alicorn, Seth leaned over to her and gave her a light hug. She felt warm and loving compared to his rough cold fur. It was a beautiful feeling to be close to another. Seth envied Night for the two's love. Night Lights!

 

With that thought, Seth backed out of the hug. It lasted only a second or two, but it was still improper for him to have done so. Still... it felt... needed.

The sudden embrace made her pupils diolate in shock as well as make her cheeks flush red...Even though it lasted a second she felt a strong emotion coming off Seth, a strong friendship she couldn't describe. When he pulled away seeming embrassed he hugged her, she started at him for a moment, still a shocked look on her face...She turned her face away to stare at a scroll, not sure what to say to this action...

 

"Um..." her ears went back, emphansizing her shock and blushing more, she was glowing, "*cough coughs* Thank you for...understanding me Seth..." She turned to him then, her eyes fading back to normal but her face was still red, "for having patience for my husband... He's...he's just so protective of me... It's not even so much that its his duty to do so...Maybe it's cause he's a dragon and...they-they take pride in defending their kin...I don't..." She paused then knowing she was trying to dodge the obvious scene of what that hug meant. "I am grateful...that you care about me...and are concerned for my wellbeing...just like..." She stared at him then, giving him a gentle nonhint smile, "like a brother...In these passed few years that I've known you... you've become more and more like a brother to me. You've come to my aid in my time of need...and even now you held me...just like my brother Jon Pryzim would do..."

 

She sniffed then thinking about her family, wondering how they were dealing with the crisies...They may even be worrying about her too. But regardless she knew she had to focus on the job at hand. She took his paw and held it between her hooves, "And as my brother...I know we'll get through this, together. We've just got to put our heads together. Come on," she released his paw and picked up another scroll, "let's get through these messages as quickly as possible, make the rest of Equestria and the empires know that we are doing our best to come up with solutions. We'll send aids to the most needed kingdoms and towns first. Let's get organizations together to come up with ideas to perserve food and rations." She really started cracking down, feeling a new form of confidence after his loving, strong hug.

Seth felt a little relief from the tension buildup as Bliss began to read the letter. He smiled at her new found enthusiasm. He then garbed a new letter and began to read.

 

Apparently the zebras were freezing for once, causing much distress. Some radical groups were blaming Equestria for the troubles of their nation. It was to the point where a small militia was beginning to form. It wasn't a serious threat, but it was destabilizing.

 

Grabbing a letter of his own, Seth began to write an apologetic letter to the high tribe elder. It described the tragedies that Equestria was facing, as well as the other nations. He elaborated on how even the throne was weak. He told them that as soon as Equestria could, they would restore the solar cycle.

 

Finishing the letter, Seth turned to Bliss. "Thank you Lighting. It means much to a wolf to be of one's kin. I just wish these were better time-"

 

Seth was cut off by the closing of the royal hall doors. It was subtle, but he could hear it with ease. He looked at the door, believing a mere wind couldn't move that heavy door. For several seconds, he watched it, wondering who would spy on them. After a minute, he gave it as just his paranoia. He shook his head and returned to Bliss. "Sorry, I... thought I head something."

Sleek Shard ran down the passageways until he came across the royal bed rooms. He had just hat a stroke of luck. He had the chance to see Seth actually hug Bliss and call her his kin. This was perfect for his plan. Running to Bliss's room, he knocked on the door. "Mr. Night Lights! I have... news. News regarding Seth and your wife."

Nights had just finished shining the armor the captain of the guards gave him when he first arrived by the captain's request since he knew Nights was going to stay here for awhile. He had agreed to help patrol the palace since he knew he'd be coped up with all the luxury, and having nothing to do would drive any dragon insane...He was used to his routine of mining for gems, taking flights with Blissy. He even missed teaching Dragon Lore back in Ponyville with the little foals.

 

He turned then when their doors burst open, it was councilor Sleek Shard, bowing to him hummbly and informing him about the news.

 

"What is it Councilor Shard, I'm late for my shift as it is..." he snarled a bit, already having a annoying morning as it was without having a councilor to pester him.

 

"Forgive me noble dragon..." he bowed again, "But there's a great deal of issues...um...concerns that I have amongst those that lead our kingdom...That I fear a dragon as yourself should know about...It has much to do with-"

 

"Spit it out already pony!" He snapped at the councilor. For some reason his stench was making Nights grow irritated. He wasn't sure why as Shard smelt like any other pony that roamed the castle...but he had this slimy hint of...swampyness about him that made him want to kick him out of his sight with disgust.

"Well..." The pony began, trying to find the best way to say this without: A. sounding like a perv, or B. not getting his head fire-breathed off by the dragon out of anger. He stepped back a bit in reassurance. "Bliss... your wife, was in the arms of... the wolf, Prince Seth. He also called her his... kin... which she more than agreed to..." He said, beginning to sweat for what was about to happen. "I wanted to inform you of this now... in case it escalated any further... without your knowing. They are in the throne room... if you are wanting to know..." The pony finished, running out of the room.

The councilor darted out the room, leaving Nights looking like a statue, with a dropped mouth hanging open...A shock to his system he wasn't expecting that the only way he could react to was to put his helmet on his head along with the rest of his armor. He slowly left the room, closing the door behind him. His head was down as the words ran through his mind... "Arms around her....his kin...she agreeing..."

 

"They were....bounding that's all..." he blurted the fake thought out to himself, "she's been under a great deal of stress and...I've done nothing but pressure her about what happened before her coma....He's just...comforting her...Bliss would never betray our union..."

 

He passed two guards as he began his patrols. The two white pegasi were eagered to get going with him and followed along side. But both sensed a steaming anger coming off him. They looked at each other for a moment, wondering if it was safe to be patrolling with an obviously stressed dragon.

 

"Um sir?" The first of the white Pegasus asked, Silver Feather, "is everything ok?"

 

"Fine..." Nights growled back in response... "let's just get this over with." He said as he bucked the outer doors open and leapt into the sky rapidly that both other pegasus struggled to keep up. "Silver Feather take the left...Ember Sky take the right..."

 

"Yes...sir?" Ember Sky darted to the right before stopping to ask, "Night Lights...are you sure your ok?"

 

"TAKE THE RIGHT EMBER SKY!" he roared at the pegasus, making him whinnie in panick and took off to his designated patrols. Nights sighed then, finally he was alone with his thoughts.

 

-- Throne Room --

 

After an hour at least of going through scrolls and putting them into piles of which were the more urgent, which were the least, as well as assemble of those scrolls that need Canterlot aid and supplies. She paused for a minute and sighed heavily.

 

"Feels like we've been doing this forever Seth," she grinned at him, stretching up her front hooves and wings to give her back some ease, when suddenly a loud rummble came from her stomach. It echoed the entire throne room. "Heh...looks like we have, I'm starving!" She looked at him for a moment to see if he was feeling the same then continued, "Maybe we should get some lunch before we continue? I wanted to have lunch with Night Lights but if you'd like to join us?"

Seth had forgotten and forced himself to neglect his hunger needs since the workflow began. Now that Bliss mentioned it, he found himself famished. "Wolves may be able to skip a few days without eating, but that doesn't mean we like it. Sure, I'll join you, that is if I'm not intruding." Seth said, lowering his last scroll. He then stood from the throne and fallowed Bliss out the door to the halls. As they walked, Seth began to notice he was rather light headed from the lack of... everything. He tried to ignore that fact and looked to Bliss for conversation.

 

"So, I can only assume your husband is on flight guard again?" The wolf asked, looking to the skys in an attempt to spot the black pony. He was unsuccessful. "Look, I'm sorry for not seeing you earlier or visiting you when you were out. I felt bad for not doing it, and I just wanted to tell you." He said, lowering his head in shame. As they walked, they had to take an outside walk to get to the banquet hall. As they did, a familiar black pony  was in view of them.

Nights spotted the two below him...not that he wasn't happy to see his mare...but she was accompany a so called Wolf, that made him growl. Before they had a chance to call him, he darted off, assuming to continue his patrols.

 

Meanwhile a certain councilor hidden in shadows grinned at the opprotunity he had just  caused...and suddenly transformed into a certain black exotic pony with similar armor and went behind the same tower just as Night Lights flew out of sight.

 

"Wait!" Bliss called out to Nights as he darted out of range, "huh," she looked at Seth, "I guess he didn't hear us. Oh well I'm sure he'll be by in a bit to come eat lunch. He's a dragon, he can barely go an hour without food." She turned around with Seth in toe, when suddenly Night Lights landed right in front of them.

 

He stood there for a second, darting suspicous eyes at the two of them for a second, before snorting in a hint of dissapointment. "Can I speak with you Blissy?" He asked firmly.

 

"Um...sure?" She turned to Seth giving him that 'i don't know what's wrong' look and encouraged him to follow.

 

"Just you...Bliss..." he hinted that he didn't want Seth anywhere near them while they spoke. He lead her back into the castle a few ways from the door, out of ear range of Seth, then turned to face her. "well?"

 

She stopped and looked at him strangely, just up and asking her a firm question out of the blue, "Well what? What's wrong Nights?"

 

"Did you speak to him? Did you have fun with your little puppy play time?" He spoke firmly and without mercy.

 

"Puppy play time? What has gotten into you Nights? If you mean have I spoken to him about his eye and...reactions... No i haven't...if you aren't aware we've got a crisis on our hands." She said back firmly trying to keep the conversation equal.

 

"Indeed we have," he strolled away from her, looking out the window, glaring at Seth firmly, "I can't even trust my wife to do one simple thing...Which was to ask why Seth was behaving so strangely...But you're too busy flirting with him aren't you?" He glared at her, a firm cheeky look of betrayl, with a smug grin formed on his face.

 

She stood back, flabergausted, insulted of the nerve, "How dare you!" She shoved her muzzle into his face, "you honestly think I'd have those kinds of feelings for Seth? After all we've been through together? What has gotten into you Night Lights? This isn't you at all!"

 

He backed away slightly, his ears down and out, but he held his stance and replied, "*Snorts* Say whatver you need to make you feel good about yourself then...But I'm not a fool, you just watch who you make friends with..." He walked passed her, and headed back towards the doors, "I'll see you tonight...And I better hear what you two while did during the day while I'm not around..." At that he flew away with her chasing after him, tears in her eyes.

 

"Night Lights! You get back here!" But he was gone soon as she reached the doors, leaving her standing at the door way in front of Seth...feeling alone and bad...like she did something wrong but didn't know what...cause he didn't even explain himself. She then looked at Seth...feeling awkward to even be with him after what Nights had said...but felt compelled to go to him...not knowing what else to do. She had to talk to somepony... "Um..." she sniffed at him... "Nights won't be eating with us...I ah...*stomach growls* I'd would say...I've lost my appitite but the doctor has told me not to skip meals...Lets just...go..."

The Fake Night Lights smiled to himself as he flew away from Lightning Bliss and hid in the trees to watch the scene unfold.

 

"Yes...sweat over your precious loved ones...soon Seth and Lightning Bliss...soon you'll be blinded with emotions...and you won't even see us coming"

Seth looked to the hurt Bliss. At what he heard, he felt terrible. "Listen Bliss... I... don't know exactly what happened, but I can assume what did happen. I... I'm sorry if I might have caused you two to have a fight..." He said looking away. "...I should know better than to step in between a lover's romance. I... I'm sorry. If you want... I'll explain myself to Nights." He said. He then turned to leave, but as he was about to move, a slash of pain jet through his brain. More visions. He fell to the floor as his weakened state couldn't take the overdoes of the mind fracture. "AHhhh!" The wolf yelled, gripping his head. This attach was one of the most potent, most likely due to him staying in close contact with Bliss.

"OH gods! Seth!" She galloped to his side as the crippled wolf held his head, riving in pain, "ah hold on! I'll teleport us to the doctor!" She then gripped around him, hugging him tightly as she could and focused her magic around them, then in a flash, they disappeared with a poof, only to reappear in the doctor's room, quite startling the poor fello.

 

"What in the name of Luna?" He turned around in a huff, he was clearly deep in filling out medical reports for other patients, when he realized who at appeared, "Oh my" he bowed immeidatly, "Prince Seth, Princess Lightning Bliss, forgive me I didn't realize..."

 

"No time for pleasentries doctor!" Bliss gently levitated Seth on to the bed, "Prince Seth needs medical attention now!"

 

"Understood," he got to work on using his horn to scan his body, then stuck IVs into his arm along with hooking him up to monitors and machines. "What happened Princess, explain as much as you can."

 

"I..." she paused for a second, feeling awkward and a sense of irony now that she was no longer the one on the doctor's bed, "we were outside, heading for lunch. We were going to ask my husband to join us...Then he collasped! He was gripping his head violently..."

 

"Hmm," he started focusing his horn on his head then, "is there anything else Princess? Anything will help."

 

"I..." She hesitated again remembering Nights suspicions, mentioning Seth's eye and behavior issues, "Night Lights mentioned something about Seth's behavior...that there's something wrong with his eye..."

 

"I see...hmm..." He stopped his use of magic and gently pressed his side against hers to escort her out, "your Highness I will do everything I can to help our newest Prince, rest assure on that. Try to relax and get yourself some lunch, remember your still recovering as well. Go on now, I need the privacy to work."

 

"Y-yes...sir..." she nodded to him obediently and left the office. She walked slowly down the hallways, evern now and then the guards would salut to her or bow, but she completely ignored them...merely focused on getting some food, and more likely going back to the throne room to work. "I can't...I can't dwell on him...not when there's a kingdom to run...Seth would want me to be strong and focused..."

 

She made herself a sunflower sandwitch with basil leaves and dressing, then made her way back ot the throne room, without saying a word to other ponies. Her mind was continuously fluttered with the fight from Night Lights...and Seth's wellbeing. Two of the most important males with her in this time of crises...implanted into the most important of her mind.

Seth was being forced between worlds: reality, and the mess of his fractured mind. Usually it was a clean transfer, but this was tearing him apart. One cold describe the mind-warping event as tying yourself between two ponies and telling them to run in opposite directions. His eyes were open and bloodshot, but they were empty. What Seth could perceive was a blank field. He was lying on the ground, the world both rebuilding and falling apart around him. This was his mind. Looking, he could see a few ponies of the spectra event talking among themselves, as well as  a single pony approaching him. It was one Seth hadn't seen before, although that didn't truly surprise him.

 

"Hello Eclipse. Welcome back to the refuge." He greeted. He was a pegasus with a grey coat and short white mane. "So, what brings you to our little piece of your mind?"

 

Seth was a little impressed that this pony was so up front about greeting him here. "I... I don't know... I was escorting Bliss for lunch... and... I..." Seth said, trying to remember. His memory was cloudy of the recent event.

 

"I remember there being a pony who wanted to talk to her..." The pony added.

 

"...Night Lights, Bliss's husband." Seth remembered. "He wanted to talk to her about something. Then, he left with fire in his eyes..."

 

"Isn't he a dragon?" The pony asked, putting a hoof to his chin. "You know... they have some magical properties. They do emit electrical-magic energy... He might have been able to trip that off and send you here."

 

"Why would he do that?" The wolf asked, unpleasant thoughts going to his head.

 

"Maybe he wanted to thin down the heard around his mare..." The pony suggested. "... maybe... he wanted one less wolf on this world..."

 

"You can't be ser... no, he wouldn't try to kill me. ...Would he?" Seth questioned.

 

"I don't know... It just fits..." The pony said before walking away. "Consider what I said, Eclipse." And with that, Seth was alone.

The doctor's horn extinguished, finishing the mind link with Seth. He smiled as licked his fangs with joy. "Now... to provoke the dragon... and our Queen will be avenged."

After 4hours of none stop flying and patrolling around the towers of the palace, to foot watching along the grounds, his stomach growing beyond description, he sighed and gazed towards the castle, where he could see the throne room window over yonder. He could spot his lovely wife, drifting away with her work on the scrolls, and for a while...felt guilty.

 

He had pressured her so much that morning about asking Seth about his personal vendettas, that he didn't once think about her and her time of need. From what he could assume, she was willowing away with all the work, and feeling lonely, maybe even hoping that he'd take the time to at least stop by. Suddenly he stomach rummbled again, making him make a spontanious idea.

 

"Guardian Night Lights?" One of the guards approached him, "alls clear on the east side of the castle, you wish to take over my part?"

 

"Afraid not Shining Cloud," Nights smiled to him, "I've been away from my wife long enough."

 

"Understood sir, you've done enough. I'll take your side and have somepony else take the east."

 

"Thank you Cloud, wish me luck!" He galloped back towards the castle, and didn't stop till he reached the throne room. He stood outside the doors for a moment, staring at the symbols of the Sun and Moon for a moment...wondering how to approach her...He rubbed his head thinking 'play it cool Nights...she'll understand...after all, a romantic dinner always gets her in a good mood. Prehaps a nice dinner out in the castle gardens...I'll ask the cook to make her favorite! Macoroni and Cheese!' He smiled at his full proof plan, then softly pushed the doors open and entered. He smiled to her thinking she'd raise her head any second to acknowledge him. The second passed...which surprised him when she didn't even flinch. He shut the doors behind him, and fluttered up to the front of the throne. He could clearly see she had many different piles of scrolls. Some were unread immiedate messages, others were replies. He glared at the pile, it being so tall, it stretched well above him, that it made him suddenly realize... Seth wasn't with her.

 

He took another step forward and cleared his throat obviously to get her attention. Her ears perked up, but she refused to give him a look, and continued levitating scrolls to their piles. "AHEM!" He called up to her once more.

 

"Mhmm?" She replied back without looking.

 

"I..." he pawed the ground, realizing she was annoyed if not angry from her firm response, "I'm sorry I must have missed you at lunch... But I was hoping her Highness would allow me to make up for it." She still didn't look at him and continued to go through the scrolls, making him feel more awkward, "I was...hoping you'd like to eat dinner with me, outside in the castle gardens. I even was going to have the cook make your favorite... Macoroni."

 

She lifted her head up out of the dust from the scrolls, gave him a firm glare as if 'you kidding right?' then darted her eyes back into the scrolls once more...The room felt colder. He sighed realizing he really must have struck a nerve, but didn't predict she'd be this mad at him.

 

"Where-where is Seth?" He finally asked her to change the topic.

 

"In the infermery..." she bluntly replied.

 

"What? When? How? What happened?" He perked up to her, showing true concern for the wolf's well being. "Why wasn't I told about this?"

 

"Dunno...maybe you were too busy with your worries about him and me being too close to one another..." She spite out of her mouth as she levitated, nearly tossing another scroll into the pile.

 

"What? What are you talking about Blissy?" He took a step on the throne stairs, "I'm not worried about that with you two at all! We've been over that before, I was concerned about his behavior with-"

 

"You got what you wanted for now..." she hissed at him again, "You didn't want us together, well now he's out for the count till the doctor says he's better." She suddenly looked up to him then and fluttered down to him, shoving her nose into his, "You said you wanted me to report to you about what we do together? What you want to hear that I asked of him? Well I'll TELL YOU!"

 

"Blissy...I..."

 

"He was worried about you, he didn't want to ruin our relationship with his issues, when he suddenly came down with an intense headeach. He was riving with pain, I don't know what caused it. I teleported him to the doctors office...and been in the throne room ever since. Trying to figure out how to save our world from this saddening disaster!" She paced back and forth stomping her hooves for a moment, then stared back at him one more time, "and what are you busy doing? Patrolling the castle while coming up with...these horrible ideas that ME AND SETH ARE A COUPLE! HOW COULD YOU THINK LIKE THAT OF ME?? You think I'd do such dishonor after I took YOUR VOWS? Gah..." she took a step back, feeling dizzy from all the work. He stretched a hoof towards her to help her balance, but she pushed it away, "I'm tired..."

 

"I...I'll get dinner ready then, we can eat in the dining room if that helps?" He tried to sound calm.

 

"No, I don't wish to eat, not with you or anypony...I..." She sniffed a bit, it was the first time she was legitametly angry with her husband.

 

"Blissy...I'm so sorry... I didn't..." he tried to reach out for her again.

 

"I'm done for the night... I shall turn in..." She then without another word teleport away from him and ended back in their bedroom, crying into the pillows, feeling both horrible for what she said and betrayed.

 

"Night Lights...what have you done..." He sat there in the throne room, and quietly cried to himself.

The veil of darkness began to fade from Seth's eyes as he began to notice a soft beeping noise from his side. Through the haze of his throbbing head, he began to become more aware of where he was. Although, he had no clue. When he opened his eyes, he was in a white sterile-looking room. He was in a bed, and apparently was hooked up to an I.V. He was in the inferiority. Slowly lifting his head, he looked around his privet room, wondering how he got here. Last thing Seth remembered was walking with Bliss... then he was out cold. He remembered talking to a pony in the eather... but... it was foggy.

 

"Oh good, your finally up!" A voice called from the doorway. Seth slowly moved his head over to see a tan unicorn stallion with a medical coat. "Hello, I'm chase." He said, levitating a clip board as he walked over to see how Seth was doing. Looking on the monitors, he wrote down something on the chart. "Well, you look rather good for a guy who went through the brain trauma you seemed to have developed. From what medical records we dug up... and that's not much for you... is this... normal?"

 

"More or less." Seth said in a tired tone. "Usually it's momentarily, but this one was something else. How long was I out?" he asked, noticing that there was light pouring through his window.

 

"Well, the entire time since the princess brought you in yesterday." The doctor said. "She was quite worried about you when you went out. The doctor on call then logged a few notes, but nothing to serious. I would suggest bed rest for the morning and into the mid afternoon if the headache persists-"

 

"No." Seth barked. "I need to get back to work. There is too many things to do for me to lie around a comfy bed all day and just sit here." The wolf argued. Taking out his I.V., he got out of bed and took a single step before falling to the ground in weakness.

 

"I'm sorry Price, but I can't let you hurt yourself more. As your doctor, I have the right to restrain you if it is medically in your favor." Chase said, levitating Seth back into bed.

 

"...Fine." Seth said in defeat. "I do ask one thing: ask on of the guards to get a few unanswered letters for me to work on while here. Also, thank Lightning Bliss for her care and comfort over the past day."

 

With a sigh, the doc agreed. Walking to the halls, he tracked down a random guard and gave him the message. However, it was instructed by the princess not to be disturbed. So, as any reasonable guard would do, he went to give the message to Night Lights.

Nights had been standing outside the balcony of his and Bliss's room the entire night, only getting a few winks of sleep when he couldn't stand, then would get up and continued. A sort of punishment he decided to inflict on himself...not barring the idea of going to see her when she was clearly upset and wanted to be left alone. "I am the last...creature she wants to see right now..." he sighed to himself as he contemplated on how he was going to fix this.

 

Meanwhile the guards were searching everywhere for him before one finally gave a clue that he had been guarding the Princess's bedroom all through the night. The guard thanked the others for their help and flew up to meet him, holding the message within to inform Night Lights about the Prince Seth.

 

"Guardian Night Lights?" The guard panted after searching all over the castle for him, "I...I bring...message from...*gasps*"

 

"Slow down pony..."  Nights repied heavily, he was clearly tired and low on patience, "what is it?"

 

"Forgive me," he took a deep breathe, then let it out, "I've been told to give a message...to you... Seth would like you to bring...some of the imediate scrolls to him, to the infermery...He's finally well enough that he's awake, but the doctor insists he stays in the infermory...But he wants to work on the scrolls and has asked you to bring them..."

 

Smoke then began to billow from his mouth...This whole fight between him and Bliss was about Seth...now the wolf was putting him in a position to go to the throne room where his enraged wife was to gather scrolls for him?? "He's probably trying to increase our anger on each other..." he spoke quietly to himself.

 

"Sir?" the pegasus asked.

 

"Ah..." he shook his head, "nevermind, I'll do as the Prince requests... your dismissed." He watched the guard nod to him in respect then fluttered back to his designated position while he too glided off the balcony, straight to the castle's throne room. He took a breath and entered quickly as possible. He spotted her once again going through the scrolls, though same as before, she didn't look up to acknowledge him. He could see she had a cup of coffee next to her and a small plate of food, so he was relieved she was eating. Quietly with a few gestures and grunts, he pointed he was merely there to gather some scrolls up. Once he got enough to carry in full, he flew back to the doors, stopped and landed to say one thing, "Thought you should know Princess..." he grunted, "Prince Seth is awake..."

 

"What?" She lifted her head eagerly, only to dart her eyes away from him, "Oh...well...Good I'm glad to hear...If anymore news comes, please let me know Guardian..."

 

"I will......" he started to close the door behind him, a small tear of anger fell from his eye, "I...love you..." he said so faintly she could barely hear.

 

She sat there staring at the doors he left...feeling more lonely then ever now.

 

He approached the infermory and nearly broke the door off his hinges as he bardged in. "Prince...Seth?" Nights growled slightly and dropped the scrolls hotly on the floor, "I bring the scrolls you wanted...Anything else...?"

When the doctor returned from informing the guard, he came in with a plate of food. "The princess informed me that you were rather malnerished when you first arrived here." The pony said, placing the tray of assorted food on Seth's lap. The wolf smiled, nodding to the doctor as he filled out the chart and walked out.

 

As he began to eat he fresh meal, his body thanked him for finally eating after so long. He wolfed it down in a matter of minutes, not taking the time to saver the canterlot quazene. The wolf then prospered to lick the plate clean, seeing no point in waiting the good food. The doctor came back in wih a second plate. "I was wondering if you- did you already eat your first plate?"he asked, astonished.

 

"Well... You did give me biskets and gravy. That was meat gravy. Real meat is meat."he said with a sheepish smile. For a prince, he could be considered a pig by royal standards.

 

"Good thing I brought you seconds." Chase replied, placing the second plate down. Seth emediatly tore in to his feast, staroling Chase. Backing away from the hungry wolf, he left him alone.

 

After finishing the second round (which didn't take any time at all), Seth was about to go for a nap when the door opened again. Expecting the doc, Seth was rather suppressed by Night Lights' apperance. He could detect he anger in his posture and growle, but he couldn't phatme why. "Thank you very much. I'm sorry from keeping you from your wife. If you wish to go, far be it me to keep you. Oh, do tell her I say hi." Seth said with a smile, hoping not to anger the dragon more.

"Really?" Nights snorted at the wolf, finding it more that he was faking whatever illness he had, "I was thinking you probably were trying to get me out of the way..." He shrugged and turned around hotly...not wanting to speak to the wolf...only to realize he was sounding more like an infant then anything else...

 

"*Sighs* Look...I'm sorry...Seth..." Nights said without looking, "I didn't realize you were in bad shape...and I'm just...so FRUSTRATED *smoke coming out of his nose* that my wife is pushed to working with you that..." He looked back on him then, "no...not pushed...*sighs again* is made considered...to work with you and...it's throwing mixed feelings my way...She's acting... odd lately, frustrated...And I believe it was my fault..."

 

He sat down next to Seth and picked up the scrolls he tossed on the floor, "She snapped at me last night for not being considerate of you or her well being...for not considering you both have quite the amount of pressure on both your shoulders running this distraught kingdom...And all I can think about is..." He sat down after a moment of thinking, trying to get his words in order, "I asked her to check in on you...ask you whats going on with your ailement... You mentioned you reacted to her magic, and your eye...I was worried about her safety...worried about you having a violent reaction...Heh...now I'm having these silly suspicions that you and she are... having an-" He glared a firm diamond blue eye on Seth then, "you wouldn't do that to me....You wouldn't do that to her...She's my wife, and you're her friend..." He stood up then, asserting himself once more, "Heh I mean if you even tried to take her you'd be forcing a Dragonair. That's dragon fight for his harem if you're not aware..." He grinned cheekily.

"Night, I want to say I am sorry for any confusion. To be truthful, I wouldn't dare to get too close to Lightning Bliss. You are a great and powerful and honorable dragon. Plus, in the wolven kind, there is no worse dishonor than to court another wolf's mate. In my days back when I was in the military academy, you risked your life by even trying." He said, laughing. He sat up and patted night on the shoulder. "If you would like, I can talk to Bliss. You and I can go see her and explain it out. It would best for both of us to explain it." He said, getting up. He walked over to a wheel chair and rested his weak body.

 

"As for my condition... a pegasus by the name of Electron Volt rebuilt my leg and eye. Sadly, the method he used... had a side effect. It caused me to see visions. Visions of... ponies have infested my mind. Bliss's magical aura has caused the hallucinations to increase." He said, wheeling to the door. "Well, let's see Bliss."

Approaching the inferiority was the doctor (not chase). He was smiling, his fangs over his lip. "Time to see what it's like to be a mare." He said. With a shimmer of green, he turned into a familiar white mare. "Lets see what that little dragon thinks of me now..."

She sighed with frustration as soon as Nights left to address Seth. She felt guilty for staying as mad as she was at him for this long...but felt now wasn't a good time to go and talk to him, especially since she she wasn't in the happiest of moods. "I'll... I'll talk to him tonight. We both suffered enough sleeping alone for the first time..." Suddenly her stomach gave off a rough growl and she giggled at its nice presence of timing, "alright you naughty stomach. How about some daphil flowers with a bowl of ice cream?" Her stomach growled eagerly in response making her giggle a little as she stood up. Suddenly her ears perked up and she scanned the throne room. She thought she felt a breeze hit above her head and seem to dart upward, but she didn't see anything...An odd gut instinct made her  feel like she was being watched..."No...probably just a bird flew through the window that's all...Come on ol'Blissy before your stomach has a field day." She nodded to herself and trotted out of the throne room.

 

Meanwhile...the imposter white mare...who had been waiting patiently up in the rafters, sighed with relief. "That mare's hearing is better then I realized...I guess size does matter... Oh well, time to perform for some unfortunate male fools..." The false alicorn mare floated down to the throne room, and waited patiently for Seth and Night Lights to arrive.
