Twilight cheats on her friends, again, in EqG2

Why? Because I have that constant fear that Twilight's friends will be useless and disposed of, thus rendering the show's friendship message meaningless.

So I made a comment here: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/05/rainbow-rocks-set-for-september-2014.html And, one of the people responded with this:

What point are we talking? EqGRR events can lie anywhere on the timeline; the only thing we can assume from the Rainbow Power stuff is that it's post-S4. By all in-universe accounts, the portal was accessible at least three times before S4 events (maybe even four, depending on the AFR - EqG time window), so it opening again after the birth of Twilight's Kingdom is hardly a stretch.

As for Twilight, Meghan's words seemed to hint that we're getting e1Twi. I don't necessarily expect a stolen McGuffin plot, though; Twilight may very likely go at Celestia's request to check on Sunset Shimmer.

In other words, Twilight is going to shove all of her friends by the sidelines like she always does, just to make way for their cheap, humanized rip-offs in Equestria Girls 2.

If anything, the Mane Five might as well be brutally murdered and unable to come back, while Twilight becomes the one and only main-protagonist who instantly resolves everything with her alicorn magic, because she has main-character powers and not her friends.

Oh... here we go again...

No, seriously!  You thought Spike was useless?  Try all five of Twilight's friends.  They might as well never exist in the show, and it wouldn't make much of a bucking difference, because they're that disposable!

Why is murder being brought up about a subtle kid's show? :'(

Twilight is the main character, you really can't blame her for having...um...the spotlight so to say. She's the princess, she's the element of Magic, she's the main protagonist. I have no clue what this rage against Twilight is lately. Not that the other elements are insignifigant in any way, in fact, they helped Twilight discover the magic of friendship. Twilight treasures her friends, or she wouldn't have given up the alicorn princess magic to Tirek in exchange for them, and Discord. Twilight has saved their butts many times, and without them, there would be no element of magic, and without Twilight, there would be no elements of harmony. If they really didn't care about each other the way they do than the elements wouldn't come to be! Luna would've took over Equestria with darkness, Discord would've made Equestria chaos, Chrysalis would feed off the love of others, Sombra would have the Crystal Empire and Tirek would have taken the magic of all the ponies and took over...well...everything!

Their FRIENDSHIP is what keeps Equestria together, and saves everypony from certain danger all the time. The other characters share the power as well, but not as strongly as Twilight, for her talent is magic, and she is the destined princess of magic. Hence her cutie mark.

I wouldn't take any of this to heart so frequently.

I once had to suffer that same problem in Dragon Ball Z, you know.  Too many supporting characters were reduced to extras and were frequently and brutally murdered to advance the story.  Meanwhile, Goku has to constantly go up one level of god-mode after another to defeat the equally-overpowered villain, even though it takes him over a million episodes to do so.

There's also a phrase that describes the huge majority of the DBZ supporting cast as well, even though they're mostly male and the phrase mostly applies to women.  It's called "Woman in the Refrigerator", and Twilight's friends might as well be amongst those stuffed in the refrigerator for the benefit of her story-arc.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about. I can't think of a single instance where Twilight has neglected her friends.

But you don't understand though, if her friends were to be taken off the show, than it would make a huge difference. THEN it would be all about Twilight.

DBZ is in no way related to MLP. Colorful ponies compared to aliens looking for dragon balls for whatever reason is just undeniably irrelevant to what's going on here. At least you don't have Twilight and the others going SUPER SAIYAN in every episode for climatic build up, only to have the super saiyan basically take up a whole entire episode, to realize that the super saiyan was unnecessary and a huge waste of time in the first place when they could have simply knocked the villain out for a loop...

I just don't see the comparison being made here.

Oh for the love of...

Twilight isn't going to abandon her friends! Just because they can't always be there doesn't mean anything! She's the main character, of course they focus on her a lot. Twilight doesn't always appear either, does that mean they're going to kill her off?

Also why do you keep going on about DBZ? You obviously don't like it, why obsess about a show you don't like?

I wouldn't mind the mane 6 dying off now, provided they had a newer cast that wasn't as trope filled and sailor moon rip off-y as the current mane 6 have become.

I would very much argue against this idea, as the ONLY reason Twilight is wear she is today is because of her friends. If they had never existed, Nightmare Moon would have succeeded in taking over Equestria and making it Eternal Night. Discord would have been able to take over Equestria with ease, and Queen Chrysalis could have also taken over Equestria. King Sombra, well the Crystal Empire would have been his without resistance.

Equestria would have gone to Tartarus many times over if it wasn't for Twilight's friends nor would she have even become an alicorn princess. As such I don't believe you know what your talking about, or at least your view is tainted by bias and negativity.

I see you're still partaking in the irrational argument brought forth by your own insecurities about an entirely unrelated show. I can't say that I'm surprised.

Are you still on about this fallacy that Twilight's friends are disposable?

We might not even be getting the same Twilight if this line from the first movie is to be believed.

Let me ask you something, when has Twilight EVER in the shows history, Comic included take care of a major threat to Equestria on her own?

Not while this tweet renders your argument almost invalid:

@MMeghanMcCarthy: “@twilicorn1: why would they go back to the human world? the end of EG solved everything #rainbowrocks” Did it? ;-)

How?  It hints that Classic Pony Twilight will return as the main-protagonist, and not be substituted by her alternate self.

I like how you ignored the actual argument again.

The question was:

"...when has Twilight EVER, in MLP's history (comics included), taken care of a major threat to Equestria on her own?"

Well, there was the Queen Chrysalis fight in the comics, where Twilight's friends are reduced to hostages/moral-support, while Twilight fought Queen Chrysalis alone.

Hell, if anything, the Twilight/Tirek fight was also probably a repeat of that aforementioned magic-fight in the comic as well.  Twilight's friends are all leverage to get Twilight to cooperate with the bad-guys.  In other words, they're damsels-in-distress, which Anita Sarkeesian spent three entire episodes of "Tropes vs. Women in Video Games" arguing against, and what Lauren Faust (and Meghan McCarthy in some ways) have been fighting against as well with MLP.

They helped Twilight in both those instances, and they aren't damsels in distress. Twilight needed help from the Mane 6 to reach Chrysalis's lair, and Tirek was defeated by the Mane 6's combined effort, correct? So how the hell are they damsels in distress?

TvTropes: "A character, usually female and nubile, is made helpless and put into immediate danger in order to put the cast in motion. Her plight unites the cast, causing them to put aside their differences and work together to save her."

The Mane 6 never fit this definition, because not only do they not act as a catalyst to the adventure, but they aren't helpless and very much contribute to the plot outside of just being a driving force. So then why is Twilight always the one who has to step in? It's simple, she's the most combat ready. Sure all the others have their physical prowess, but only Twilight can stay at a safe distance while attacking, and can block literally anything up close (force fields).

You constantly ignore the fact that this show is about character development, power is irrelevant outside of the extended specials, and even within these specials the theme is friendship always prevails. You need to stop this nonsense you're spouting, because that's what it is, nonsense.

You keep leaving out convenient details related to the conflicts at hand to make your own argument look better. "Twilight's ditching her friends like in EqG, again." Yea, she ditched 'em, I guess she never went back home saying that won't forget about the new friends she made in the human-world. She's just going stay in their world forever saying "Fuck those guys!"

As for your "brutally murdered" comment, I just have to say OCD or not that's pretty fucked up. I have a friend who has OCD. It's rough for him, I understand that, but that doesn't excuse this type of behavior. Why would the show even consider killing off Twilight's friends after giving them loads of character development? Hell, they shut up the "AJ is a background pony crowd" this season, and gave Rarity, Pinkie, and Spike ample screentime and some of their best episodes in the series. You need to relax, and go watch some anime.
