The vile "manchild" slur

I posted a status ranting about it, so I'll say it again here.

According to Wikipedia:

An archaic, derogatory term for an adult male; also to describe for a man that is physically an adult, but mentally/emotionally immature.

One word I absolutely hate its guts is "manchild." I've hated it since I entered this fandom in 2011, and I've grown to hate it more and more. Although it doesn't have the stinging power of "autism" or "retard," it's no less bigoted. "Manchild" is inherently an ad hominem attack; instead of attacking the argument, you're attacking the person on a really deep level. The second you use "manchild," you're throwing an extremely sexist slur towards men.

Just like any other slur (including the two already mentioned), "manchild" or any of its derivatives like "manchildren" is bigotry. Whether any of you like it or not, there's absolutely no excuse to use it under any circumstances, and you're deluding yourself if you think there is. You have absolutely no credibility in whatever you say anymore if you ever use it because you can't help but chip down to people on a personal level. Only bullies use "manchild." To use the slur makes you a bully.

And if you don't use it personally, yet support or embrace opinions containing the slur? In my opinion, you don't look any better than the people who use it.

some people need to act their age.

Thinking there's validation for it destroys the excuse even more because it opens up Pandora's Box to use not only that slur, but others, too.

I don't entirely agree with this, last time I checked a "manchild" was defined as a "grown man who acts very immature", so for example I believe that anti-bronies are manchildren, they are very immature and don't understand that in the real world not everything is how you think it should be, just my thoughts.

I'd be the first to admit... Given my emotional standpoint at least, I'm a total "manchild" in the regards to the actual content of the description of the word itself. But I agree here... To use the term as a means of insult or in a derogatory fashion is just obscene and unnecessary. Well...... Really anything used to emotionally insult or deter someone is wrong quite honestly... But, well... Yeah, this is just one of the many examples of a word that is oftenly used as such.

Well...... Maybe I wouldn't say I'm emotionally "Immature" as the term seems to be describing or used to describe as... But I mean this more in a sense of my very child-like personality... I don't know, maybe I'm getting things mixed up... Sorry. .-.

Because "manchild" is designed to insult and attack men.

You are aware that there exist a female form called "womanchild" which means the exact same thing?

Actually, no, I'm not aware of it. As far as I'm concerned, it's just as bigoted as man child.

Yeah, but this makes the "manchild" non sexist.

Quite the contrary. In fact, by attacking the people by gender, just as "manchild" is sexist towards man, "womanchild" is sexist toward women.

By that logic calling someone "king" or "queen" is sexist.

Completely big difference. "King" and "queen" are noble titles physically and emotionally. "King" and "queen" aren't words with demeaning implications.

"Manchild" and "womanchild" are sexist because the words are very demeaning. They have nasty implications and insult people at the core.
