Why I Like Rainbow Dash

Okay, so I have been asked by people why I like Rainbow Dash so much. Many people hate her with a fiery passion due to her arrogance and potential to be a complete bitch at times. First of all, I want to say that I completely admit that she acts like a bitch sometimes, mostly in season 2 and season 3 a little bit. I already made a rant about her being a bitch recently, so if you're interested you can go read that blog entry.

 

Anyway, I am now going to talk about why I like Rainbow Dash. Many of you might not know that my favorite pony was actually Twilight Sparkle when I first started watching the show. I always tend to like the main character of any show, book. movie, etc. the best because the main character usually receives the most screen time and is developed the most and whatnot. I also admired Twilight's intelligence, rationality, logic, etc. But enough of Twilight.

 

Anywho, when I was first getting into the show, I was watching a lot of pony videos on Youtube and I saw a lot of cool Rainbow Dash videos and I started thinking like "Wow Rainbow Dash is really awesome!!!" I think the video that really got me liking Rainbow Dash was the "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" PMV. Most of you have probably seen that, and if not, just look it up on Youtube.

 

So naturally, I grew more fond of Rainbow Dash, and by the time I was done watching the first season, Rainbow Dash was officially my favorite character. So at this point (around December of last year), I found MLP Forums and made an account. My love for Rainbow Dash was probably very obvious, considering her name was in my username and I used only RD avatars for the most part.

 

So back to what I was talking about at the beginning. People ask me, "How can you like RD? She's such a mega bitch!"

 

Well, here's the thing. I don't picture Rainbow Dash as a bitch, regardless of how she acts in the show sometimes. I like to imagine her having all those awesome qualities that she has without the negative bitchy qualities that she tends to sometimes have. I will admit that I had a pretty big crush on her several months ago. I liked to imagine her as being the kind of girl that I would be attracted to and would love to have as a girlfriend or whatever. I basically took the things that I would want in a girlfriend and attributed them to Rainbow Dash. That sounds kind of weird, but yeah.

 

So basically, I don't think of her as a bitch, but as an awesome girl (mare?) that can maybe be a bit cocky at times, but can still be an awesome, loyal friend and somepony whom I would love to be with.

 

So, there you have it. I probably didn't explain this very well. I've never been good at explaining things :/

I never said I like her just because of a pmv. And I already admitted that she has bad qualities, I just don't like to focus on them.

 

Also, I don't think you even understood the point I was trying to make.

 

I already said I'm terrible at explaining things, you don't have to be so hard on me.

You are not understanding the point of this blog entry. I wasn't trying to convince anyone to like Rainbow Dash, I was just sharing my personal reasons why I like her.

I don't care if you people like Rainbow Dash or not, I just wanted to try to explain my personal feelings towards her.

The only reason Rainbow Dash is even halfway up my list is because of My Little Dashie. Well, that and because Rarity and Applejack get so little attention. Canon Dash is pretty meh.

I like Twilight the best, but it you like Rainbow Dash, no problem, brother. It's your preference. There is no best pony. What is good qualities to one may not be to another.

You gave your opinion, and now other people are giving theirs. If you want people to respect your opinion, you must also respect theirs, even if you don't like it.

I don't know if my post contributed to that, but I apologize if it did. I think it's understandable why Rainbow Dash is so hated among the community (sad, really, given how popular she was first season). Her arrogance can be too much at times.

 

It's perfectly fine if you like her. Haters be damned. RD's actually my third favorite pony, so I definitely don't hate her.

The point of this blog wasn't to argue that Rainbow Dash is best pony or to convince anyone to like Rainbow Dash.

 

The point of it was to try to explain my personal feelings and why I like Rainbow Dash.

 

I didn't make this blog to receive hate or start any arguments. People are not understanding what the point of this blog entry was.

I also feel that Rainbow Dash is a love/hate character. Usually you like her or you don't. While not my favourite, I don't feel she is as liked as some claim. She was ranked 4th on the average mane 6 list about a year ago. I don't have much to say on her popularity during S1, because I wasn't here yet.

By the way, you obviously didn't read the second half of my blog entry. My reasons for liking RD have nothing to do with a pmv. I only mentioned the pmv because i thought it was a cool video.

You lot should try reading @@Kyronea's analysis on Rainbow Dash sometime. It'll clear up some misconceptions about what people might have against Rainbow Dash. Maybe you'll even see her in a new light!

 

As for bitchy qualities, it's difficult to give a person (or pony, in this case) any light of the day if they're as brash and bold as Rainbow is. For a long time she's demonstrated to not be as mature as the others, but then again, that's all relative. Take Pinkie Pie, for example. Her wild antics drove me crazy to begin with and it was quite annoying having to hear her speak every episode she was in when I first began my brony journey as it were. As time passed on, you begin to appreciate those same antics that once drove you mad and even start to think it's cute! Likewise, Rainbow's attitude and nature isn't necessarily the worst of all ponies. It takes an open mind to look past that in order to start appreciating the same qualities that could annoy you and make you deem that they're the worst of the pack.

 

Truth is, they're all the worst and best at the same time. They're so complex that it's hard to draw up a solid, stable conclusion on any of them, because after all, it does take one to know one. For example, you could conclude that Rarity is shallow, vain, conceited and only cares about fashion and her career, but we all know that's not really true. You can also say that Applejack is stereotypical of a farmgirl who can't speak "properly" to save her life, but that's not true either.

 

So you see folks, it's not a crime to like someone's dare-devilish attitudes towards things. It doesn't necessarily mean they're bad or anything - it just means that they're themselves which others are able to truly love and respect.

as weird as it seems you kept talking about negative things of her, and what people think of her. you talked about some awesome qualities that she has that made you have a crush on her...

 

which qualities? you haven't said any possitive quality that made you love her, you just focused on the negative part because you are aware of how much many people on here dislike her (me included).

 

I still think that you are a pretty cool dude, and that's not gonna change, unless you start to act like her or something. So you can feel completely confortable saying the things you like about her, I'm not gonna judge, I'm very open minded.

 

I suggest editing your blog, or make another entry.
