blog-0793435001356902471.pngSo I've heard a few members around here, the highly respected CronaTheCritic and others, say they're disappointed in a perceived lack of "love and tolerance" in the fandom and they don't identify with other bronies like they used to. I understand why they might feel that way, but at the same time, I think a lot of us don't know how lucky we are to have this place.

 

Do I agree with everybody here? No. Have I run into a few members that made me happy to have an Ignore feature? Sure. Is "love and tolerate" an anachronistic meme, not a goal or an obligation? Fortunately, yes. Otherwise it wouldn't be so special when somepony goes out of their way to say something nice to me or brohoof a post I thought no one would like. What makes that stuff so valuable around here is the fact that it's not expected of us. We do it because we want to. And what's why I love you guys, because you go out of your way to be respectful and nice, and you inspire those things in me.

 

I am being 100% honest when I say this is the best community I've ever been a part of. Since I first trotted onto the Internet almost eight years ago, I have stumbled across some ornery, mean-spirited and downright awful groups. I was on a pro wrestling forum with a lot of good people, but it wasn't a fun atmosphere. Everyone thought they were smarter than everyone else and I didn't even know how bad it was until I came here. And this one Final Fantasy board that shall not be named...how do I describe it?

I won't post any examples from there for the sake of good taste and the rules, but my point is, this is the Internet, and we're in one of best parts of it. It gets so much worse than the occasional meanie you see here.

 

When you don't take the community too seriously--and I try not to--it's much easier to accept everything that comes with it. When you focus on the show, the good vibes will always drown out the bad.

I totally wanted to leave this place. For reasons I can hardly even explain.

However I totally missed this place after about, what... 10 days at most? Maybe not even that. I forgot how... horrible... everywhere else is. There's so many stupid, arrogant, ignorant, dummy faces out there, and this place has virtually none of that. 

 

I love this place and the people as well.

What was that word you used before, hikikomori? I know where you're coming from. I feel like I can only connect with people online, and even there I'm careful where I spend my time. But I feel like this place embraced me, somehow.

I kind of live here now because there are people like me who I can be open to about anything.

Also, ponies. Y'know, that's kind of a big deal too.

It's sad to say but I feel better chating on this site then other places on the internet and in real life. While sometimes people on here may appear to become too hostile I believe there are far more great Bronies then bad ones. In the real world there are many more people who can't have peaceful and calm debate's.

This place certainly isn't perfect. I get annoyed by some of the staff and some members get on my nerves. There are some things I wish would be much better (like the *cough* banner feature). 

 

Buuut it's a hundred times better than other places on the interwebz.

While I'm at it I have to shout out to some other good friends of mine, even if Dash isn't their favorite pony: *deep breath* Clarity, Stellafera, BatBrony, Dismajo, Nightfall, Artemis, Berry Pie, CloudFyre, Arcanel, Gone Airbourne, Night Shine, Kolth, Lightning Fluttershy, TheLoyalBrony, Rainbow Skywalker, Wingnut, Urdnot Pinkie Pie, ~Chaotic Harmony~, ~Chaotic Discord~ and more! *gasp, choke*  Spread the love.

I'm here for the community. I still enjoy MLP, but not as much as I used to. For awhile, I was only here to discuss new episodes as they came out, and to RP. I've since quite doing both for various reasons, but I still stay because I've made so many friends here, and even though it's sometimes hard to find, there's always at least one interesting conversation to be found here :)

Thanks. It means a lot to hear stuff like that. :D  I was on that old wrestling board for 6 1/2 years and racked up nearly 5000 active posts until I finally realized: (1) it wasn't a fun place, (2) I had very few friends there, (3) nobody cared if I stayed or left and (4) I wasn't really into wrestling anymore. xD

 

Then I come in here and I think, "Wow! So many people love this show as much as me? And they're smart and nice? And they like me??" :(  It was a whole new experience. I hope I can make a fraction of the difference in someone else's life online that all of you have made for me.
