My Thoughts On MLP Generation 5 Ending

Sparklefan1234

This year hasn't been the best when it comes to cartoons that I enjoy watching.😥

First, Disney's "The Ghost and Molly McGee" ends early (For a Disney show.)

and now My Little Pony's fifth generation is being put out to pasture much sooner than I had expected it to.

I might not have loved everything about Gen 5 of MLP but I LOVE the characters, the "A New Generation" Netflix movie, YouTube's "Tell Your Tale" series

and the "My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure" video game's storyline because the game was a sort of follow-up to A New Generation.

The abrupt ending of G5 reminds me of Equestria Girls which is something else I LOVE that did not get a "real" conclusion and ended without an ending if that makes sense.

I feel like "we" (Fans of FiM or whatever the real issue was.) didn't give Gen 5 enough of a chance and Gen 5 failed as a result of that.

Short version: I'm sad that Generation 5 of My Little Pony is ending when I think that it still has more stories it can tell like, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls.

Cartoons have been going through a lot behind the scenes. The landscape of animation has really been changing.
But even though we are saying goodbye to G5, I hope the future clears the way for even better cartoons to take their place. :adorkable:

My favorite parts of G5 are the movie and MYM chapters 4-6. These are the parts where I had similar feelings when watching them as when watching FiM. I tried watching TYT, but it doesn't really get me emotionally involved, these are too short and silly for me to be taken seriously. So for me G5 practically ended when MYM ended.

I like the G5 characters, and I think there's still potential for more stories and world building, so I agree that it ends prematurely, and without a proper finale, just like Equestria Girls. G4 lasted for a decade and G5 only for a few years. Anyway, we'll see if Hasbro has anything interesting to offer for G6...

After having a blast on the New Generation movie I didn't like poor story telling and animation quality of MYM and TYT seemed too short and goofy to tell some real story. But later I found that character design is somewhat clever and music... Oh Gosh! That music! Charmed me so greatly that I can say, I love G5.

I don't think it's cancelled because of us. Let's admit, we, I mean adult fans, have never been target audience.

I personally think you and the other fans actually gave enough love for it, don't put yourself in the same group of people who weren't watching it or disliking it (like me), and even though I don't like the show (and as Silly Druid said, for me G5 it also ended with MyM), I really don't think it deserved to be cancelled, the show is cheap to be made, they should've finished the story, leaving a story to remain untold/incomplete is really bad, I can try to imagine the same happening to a show that I really enjoy, I would get really sad.

Anyway, I'll probably not be looking forward into G6, but I hope it will be good enough for you and other fans to enjoy it, Sparkle :coco:

Maybe the younger fans didn't like Gen 5 much because they preferred FiM since Discovery Family shows/showed(?) reruns all the time.

It's kinda difficult to get into a new generation of MLP when the older most popular version keeps drawing your attention.

Very disappointing. MYM was my favorite thing about G5 – at its best, a match for FIM and EqG. I never felt TYT would be able to carry the generation the same way MYM did, but the best episodes of it were enjoyable too. G5 deserved a lot better than the way both of its series ended.

I hope that video leaked a while ago isn't representative of the next MLP series... I'm sure the series itself would be fully animated unlike the clip, but storywise, there was nothing in that clip I found interesting. :sunny:

Putting the Gen 5 shows on different services didn't help get more eyes on the product like Hasbro thought it would either it just made things more confusing instead.🫤

Frankly with all these newer cartoons getting cut short (and probably several other factors), I feel like we're heading towards another dark age of animation. :unamused:

I'm sad when I enjoy watching something new from Disney and that's the one show out of __ that gets cut short.
