Please note that this is my opinion and may not apply to everybody.

 

 

1. The term has been overused and abused

 

2. It is becoming more of a term to determine how rabid you are

3. It's getting boring and old to call yourself that

 

4. It's easier to hate against a Brony, not an MLP fan

 

5. I don't like using it nowadays

 

6. The fanbase is messed up

 

7. People assume negative things about you.

 

8. It's easier to say I'm a fan of MLP, not a rabid idiot that woships it as the greatest thing ever made.

 

9. People seem to respect you a bit more if you say MLP fan, not Brony.

 

10. You feel a bit better about yourself

Well, I personally enjoy being called a "Brony". But, yeah, that's your opinion. So whatever you want to do is up to you. :)

I don't really like it, considering how downhill the fandom has gone.

Same as WheatleyCore here :) I dunno, I just like having some kind of titel I guess :P Feels like I'm a part of something bigger then. But sure, if you wanna be called MLP fan then that's up to you! :D

It is indeed so unnecessary to call yourself a Brony. I mean if you like the show then you like the show regardless of what your called. I don't like the term because of the negative stigma it has gotten and honestly it sounds so stupid. XD

But I agree though, it seems like Bronies are using the term like if it is their nationality or something

I used to not refer to myself as a brony either (or pegasister, if you prefer). But then I joined this forum and met some of the fanbase, and started loving the whole brony community, warts and all.

 

You do what you want to do, but for me, I'm quite proud to bear the title of Pegasister. ^^

 

((And by warts I mean freaky-as-hell grimdark and clopper art))

All of those reasons are why I don't refer to myself as a brony/pegasister too.
