Harmonic Is The Voice of Reason

Harmonic Revelations

Harmonic is here today to talk to you about drama, specifically, the drama happening right this second, and why it needs to stop.

I'm going to go ahead and point out first of all that none of you understand the situation. You weren't in the conversation. Bans are between the staff and the user, not between the staff and say 20 or 30 users, and it's none of your business why it happened or whether or not it's permanent.

I view myself as an unbiased person. I can however say that I trust the staff enough to know that if they banned somebody, they had a good reason. If they didn't, the staff would resolve it themselves and you shouldn't spam as it is pointless and self-harming to your cause. You're not going to make the staff reverse their decision by breaking more rules.

I understand your concerns but you must realize that you're not going to change the staff team's mind by reacting like this. This is not a biased decision, he broke the rules, that's the end of it. I think Artemis made his reasons for banning him clear and concise, and I personally think that he made the right choice.

You complain when the staff doesn't do their job and now you're complaining because they are. This is something you shouldn't be doing, as it is extremely confusing and counterproductive.

Be reasonable, people. All you're doing by screaming and shouting about it is creating unnecessary drama that definitely will not help your cause. Please, just sit back and take a deep breath so we can sort this out like rational people.

MLPf is also just a privately owned site. People have absolutely no say in anything that goes on in terms of staff decisions.

If ever single admin were to be abusing their powers, it's not like you have any kind of say or influence to stop it. It's not your place in any way. If you don't like things that occur, leave. Otherwise, there's nothing to be done, regardless.

If the ban was justified, then fine. If not, then I think then people have a right to question it. I don't know the whole story, so I can't take a side, but it all comes down to whether or not it was fair and justified or not.

My problem with this, is that this forum is alive BECAUSE of members. Without donations, this site wouldn't be able to run in the first place, Feld0 himself said that. So, it isn't like we are just here for being here. We are the lifeblood of the community, literally.

But the forums are privately owned, Feld0 reserves the right do anything he wants. But in this case, I think the ban was deserved.

Yes, but admins should be fair to the users of their site, or else no one is going to want to be a part of the community. Not that I'm saying the admins on here aren't fair, I just mean in general.

It doesn't matter what you think or how right you are. You don't own the site or make the decisions in the end.

I'm most likely going to echo everything written in this blog, so I will just redirect you all to this post.

This incident was so sudden (in my eyes, anyway), I don't know the full extent of the damage that was caused but I can vividly see that some people are distressed. I also doubt that Artemis is having a good time, either, because it is really not fun banning people. Sadly, someone has to drop the hammer if someone else is being counterproductive. It doesn't even matter what the incident was; you just have to say the wrong thing(s) to get the boot.

But we as members are what keep the site alive, as I said. I am not saying that we should all be staff, but we damn sure shouldn't be ignored. Feld0 may 'own' the site, but he doesn't exactly pay anything for it. So, we are somewhat important I think. Basically just an echo of what I just said.

Yes, but no one wants to be on a site with admins who are unfair or abuse their power. And without the support of the users, the site is nothing.

>Implying it's more than like five or six people complaining.

These people are complaining for absolutely no good reason. The mods did their jobs right.

Yes, I'll agree that a lot of people were overreacting with the spam and stuff.

I'm very glad you posted this. However, we do know most of the story; At least, the people in the group do. You are absolutely right in not  making any assumptions, so thank you for that.

I wasn't talking about these forums specifically. I meant in general. Which is what I said earlier.

All this drama going on has nothing to do with me, I'm not gonna go overreacting about it like other people are. And I'm not gonna take a side until I know the whole story. Not that it's really my business anyway, I suppose.

That's all I wanted to say, I'm done now.

I wish this fandom wasn't so obsessed with drama, it feels like it loses its shit at the drop of a hat. It shouldn't take that much for one huge group of people to elbow their lid, and with every example (this, Twilicorn, EQG, etc.) it becomes more and more obnoxious.

Yes, albeit we're always dealing with different kinds of members of the fandom. Unfortunately, the drama heads are the one that get what they want: more attention. I'm thankful for the sane people like you, Ashley, that actually have common sense about this whole thing.

But, as long as these people have the freedom to make a scene, they will, they will do it when they get a chance. It wouldn't take much for everyone to get some common sense and learn how to deal with these situations, I really hope a lot ode people see this blog post and agree with it.

My main problem is someone getting banned for something that happened on Skype, if that is what happened. Not everyone is going to agree, that is what opinions are for.

I like how everyone claims they know the story, and that they've got it all figured out.

So let me get this straight. Your Artemis-Hate skype group, has collectively shared the story and decided that you all are in the right and know the full correct story, ultimately ending in Artemis deserving to be demoted.

Bias is a wonderful thing isn't it?

You can tug and pull and fight and flail all you want, but the ones clinging to their decisions don't budge. Both sides, for and against, are guilty of this, including myself. Earlier I was downright pissed off and angry with how the 'userbase' was reacting. Therefore I got angry with others around.

But let me ask you something; When you've made a mistake, when is it easier to admit to it? When everyone is freaking out at you and screaming bloody murder, or when they calmly respond and ask for a little more info and explanation? Put yourself in Artemis's shoes.

I for one agree with the final decision of banning this user. He was causing unnecessary trouble, abuse, and was crying about his warnings to people. (Including flaming and insulting Artemis.) Sure, perhaps allowing the Skype related part to be included in the ban reason shouldn't have happened, but I'm going to scream this to the heavens if I have to. If it still doesn't get through the deaf ears that pervert this fandom at times I will be very displeased.

The Skype trouble was not the only reason for Gary Oaks banning.
